I used this little baby here to record all of the songs live of my group "Joy Diesel Jumpers". I basically stopped recording when track 2 of the recorder (the volume control resistor) crapped out. we have a number of songs on Sounclick
I'm in a band and looking for a way to record. We have recorded onto a computer using audacity and a two input interface, but I would like to record the band live and also get a more analog sound. I know a lot of lo fi bands use 4 track cassette recorders. How does one go about recording a band on this thing. I realize there are only 4 mic inputs for this. That would not be enough for 2 guitars, a bass, vocals, and a multiple miced drum kit. What would we need to do this with a fourtrack, amixer?
@hunt1622 We recorded my bands demo on this, and the way we did it was first recording drums (since that took the most inputs) and recorded them into the computer (using Logic and Garageband). Then we went back, recorded bass, then went back and did all guitars, and then finally vocals. basically, every section one at a time. It can be a bit of a hassle, but at the end of the day it cost us nothing, haha.
You're gonna need an RCA to 1/6 inch cable. It won't let me post links but you can google to see what it looks like. Plug the RCA cables into the L & R 'line out' on the Tascam, and then the 1/6 inch end into the mic input on the laptop (probably next to the headphone one). From then on it'll depend on what programs you're using.
anybody know where I can get this?

hey the tapes that are recorded on it...
1.can they be played on a normal cassette player??
2.and can it be used as a normal cassette player??
please tell me!!
GIIGF 1 year ago
@GIIGF No to both. It records using both sides' stereo tracks as the four tracks, as well as at double the speed of a normal cassette deck.

@johnchaos Yea, as long as you record well AND USE GOOD BRAND TAPES! (tdk, maxell, sony). I use type 1 and type 2 tapes all the time.
