hahaha he did light up the NYc skyline...plus it take an amazing player when the mean yankee fans start chanting a texas rangers players last name.. hamilton hamilton hamilton,,,
Perhaps the most amazing moment of my life happened when josh hamilton stepped up to the plate in the 2008 homerun derby! I was watching at home on tv and at the time had no idea who josh hamilton was and I pointed to the tv and said this guy is gonna put on a show and when I said it a chill ran through my body as if somehow in the moments before he took his first swing I knew what was about to happen! I will remember josh hamilton and that moment the rest of my life!
Hamilton could win the triple crown this year and he's focused, that's why he skipped the derby this year. Last year he struggled with striking out on outside pitches, now he takes those to left field all the time. The guy is ridiculous, I get to watch the Rangers every night, fun to watch...
josh hamilton, ur one of my favorite players, and i still think ur awesome even though ur w/ the rangers now. i just wish u would go back 2 the reds. keep playing well.
yeah winner or not, morneau still plays for the twins... thats enough right there to be upset about. at least hamilton is going to carry his team deep into the playoffs. morneau shmorneau
Morneau's numbers speak for themselves. Hamilton had one good season, but look at it this year. He was impressive during the derby in 2008, but unfortunately for him they couldn't change the rules about not carrying homers over into the final round. Saying he should've won is like saying a team that scores the most runs in one inning of a game should win regarless of the final score. Tell you what, you keep Hamiliton, we will keep Morneau and be more then happy about it.
@MoFo0311 I have no regrets for the comment, nor will I ever. Doesn't look like Hamilton helped his team win the World Series any more than Morneau did. Besides the comment was aimed at the home run derby. I would rather be a loyal fan to my team and its players, when Morneau is hurt I still won't sell him out. He wasn't the only one hurt this year, and a much more serious injury than a couple of ribs.
congrats, i've actually found one person that knows jamilton won. i appreciate it. even in the commercials on espn, it says he won the whole thing last year
Josh"Home-Run King"Hamilton was robbed. I mean it stupid how the hell are the first to round HR counts linked but then you reset for the final round thats stupid.
man , josh hamilton to me is a great person and baseball player, you cant judge a person on who wins a HR derby, he didnt care, josh hamilton is a stand up guy.
The video clearly states that Josh made his major league debut with the Reds in '07. He's been clean and sober since '05. No discrepency.
And plonsky24, Josh has not asked for any credit from the homerun derby. Morneau won and no one attempts to take that away from him. But the show that Hamilton put on in the first round may never be topped, and it was just the cherry on top of the most miraculous, wonderful and inspirational comeback in major league history.
This is a terrible picture/video. It shows him playing for the reds while they talk about his drug use. HE NEVER PLAYED IN THE MAJORS until he sobered up. Nice job AP.
he could not beat him in the final round cause he was so freakin tired from the first! 28 hrs where lots of them were 500+feet. i would like to see morneau do that
well, then maybe he should have played with a little strategy. he knew the rules, total homeruns doesn't mean anything other than a record. morneau is one of the most underrated players in the league, and you obviously haven't watched him plant a 480 foot homer in the upper deck during a game.
See what can happen when you take ownership for your mistakes, pull yourself up by your bootstraps and work your way back. Congratulations Josh Hamilton, you are an inspiration to many!!!!
Wow give Morneau some credit he did win the damn thing
