The 5200 version of Pac-Man is hard. Even on an emulator, the ghosts are fast and relentless; a good joystick still won't help you. You're better off just clearing the maze instead of going for perfect scores.
@lustyhitter Yea it is & that's what I do too (clear maze). Aren't emulators awesome? I have emulators for nearly every classic/vintage consoles/PC ever made, & practically every game/ROM for them all. (over 60,000 total). Many emulators have Kaillera Client support, for free netplay/online gaming. Online I've played MAME, Commodore 64, NES & Intellivision, but I can't find anybody to play Atari 5200 (or 400/800). What emulator do you have? Atari800Win+? Wanna try playing online sometime?
@gjc82071 - I bought a new laptop and some of the emulators I used on my old PC are not compatible with Windows 7. I used Kat5200 to play Atari 5200 games. I have MAME running. I have Nestopia but can't seem to get it to recognize my Xbox 360 PC controller.
@lustyhitter Hey, I am going to send a message to your inbox. It's just a little (but not much) too long to post here. I may be able to help with some of your controller, Win7, etc issues.
I remember I wanted this on the Intellivision so bad I had trouble sleeping some nights. I also wanted a version that I could use the apple pattern on.
All I had was the 2600 version that a friend gave to me. It sucked so bad that it was given to me a few hours after it was released and the friend no longer wanted it.
you have NO idea how difficult this game is to master... especially at an arcade where the joystick was friggin greasy from everyone else playing! This was the ORIGINAL arcade game
My friend had this next door and we would play this after school. I remember how cool star raiders looked on this and pac man looked as close to the original as i've seen on a console. MAME is the best thing ever now to play all these golden age games.
I wonder what would happened if Atari came back into the console wars? Would the market be big enough to support 4 home consoles? Interesting to think about.
@KingRetro1985 Absolutely impossible, the company Atari we see today is not the company from 1982, it just has the same name. Atari are now a french company.
@KingRetro1985 Sadly yes, the company divisions that made games and systems for Atari have been sold off to different companies. The only 'Atari' left is the naming rights and it's owned by a french company who renamed themselves Atari after buying the rights.
Fun Fact: Activision Blizzard is also owned by a french company!

The 5200 had some awesome games, but it delivered nothing that you couldn't already get on the Atari 400 or 800 home computers. That, coupled with its low-build-quality controller, is why it failed.
atari 5200 was to fuggin bulky and the controller was weak, literally. but this pacman version wasn't bad at all. overall, i give the atari 5200 a D+.
FYI if it wasn't for the 2600 the NES, Genesis, SNES, Xbox, Playstation, Wii, Xbox 360, and PS3 would never have existed, the 2600 didn't cause the VGI Crash, it was people creating pirated 2600s, System Changers, and baddly made 3rd Party games after Activision got the green light to make 3rd Party games for the 2600
@datcrip258 fuck you, stupid fucking cunt, what don't you get, the I? the was? or joking? Ya, I fail? Well apparently you can't fucking read, stupid dick licking cunt..........

I was one of the lucky few that never had any problems with the Controllers and loved them , to me the controllers worked for all the games I had and one my all time Favs for the Atari 5200 was H.E.R.O , man I love that game .....lol .....

I was one of the lucky few that never had any problems with the Controllers and loved them , to me the controllers worked for all the games I had and one my all time Favs for the Atari 5200 was H.E.R.O , man I love that game .....lol .....
