  • one of my alltime favourites

  • Like them.....OR!!!!!!! FCUK OFF!!!!!!....

  • There's a lot of magic in this song, Depeche mode is greatest band of all.

  • danke.

  • Every DM album is soo important and so beatiful. :) some more, some less... but years ago PTA teached me how to compose music.. and SOTU then teached me how to compose lyrics.. And now in 2012 im sure that music would be my future, thanks to GREAT DEPECHE MODE.

  • This song makes sense for the album, since Vince left the band and things had to change. Vince got tired of playing the same game over and over again. Yet, DM evolved into something greater than Vince could even fathom without him.

  • things must change,we must rearanged them...prophetic...!!!

  • Depeche mode forever!!!

  • I love this song!!!

  • Thumbs up if you think Depeche Mode were huge stoners

  • stupenda canzone : ) però pochi remix : ( by depecheman

  • I think A Broken Frame is a specific album. And a beauty at that.

  • Depeche 4 Ever*

  • love this song. so good

  • nigdy nie zapomnę...

  • Depress Mode - but I loves it!

  • You're the one I like best, you retain my interest...

    Unpredictable like the sun

    Beautiful lyrics, amazing song

  • questo è il loro album più bello, thisi is thier best album!

  • Одна из лучших песен в альбоме A Broken Frame.

  • Nice video and great song. I guess i should pay more attention to this band hehe

  • the best song premier

  • This is one of my absolute favorite tracks from Depeche Mode - the sweet melody and the sad lyrics combine here perfectly. This track is one of the best ending titles ever made for an album.

  • Hammer Hammer Hammer ....

    thank´s for this Video

  • I enjoy every second of this song

  • my favourite DM album! Martin Gore should be the first to admit that almost everything the did after songs of faith and devotion is shit.

  • Wooooooowwwww!!!

    I'm a fan number 18.000.000 from DP

  • Probably my favorite song on the album. I remember being an exchange student in France in '88. This was one of the cassettes that I had with me. Dang near worn it out...

  • indeed, because the "worst" from a genius such as Martin Gore would still eclipse the best from other bands. Love this track!

  • grandissimi come sempre

  • I think CTA is a great album but deffinalty a turing point for DM. From a dancey synth-pop to a Industrial almost sounding DM.

  • makes me sad but i still love this song

  • Simply beautiful

  • Martin Gore often said that A broken frame was their worst album, but considering that that album had songs like these (leave in silence, see you, my secret garden and this deep, innovative and pure tune), how can he use 'worst' for this album!! They also set up their dark sound with this album,

  • @BlackSkyThunder Id say CTA is the worst.

  • @Nakian I can' t say "their worst albums" because they are all masterpieces, but I think the least beautiful is definitely Exciter. The singles from that album are not up to their discography

  • @Nakian ABF and CTA are my two absolute favourite MODE albums!!!

  • @Nakian I disagree with out on that, CTA has the wonderful Everything Counts and Love, In Itself, two wonderful masterpieces of DM. Also, Get the balance right

  • @SuperSaladEaterz get the balance right is not on it, even tho it is my fave dm tune

  • @Nakian hard to say 'cos worst is not a word i would use for dm albums in the 80s, they got worse in the 00s

  • @BlackSkyThunder If Martin really said this is there worst album, I feel sorry for him. This is the most geniune song I've ever heard...

  • @BlackSkyThunder If Martin said this is there worst album, I feel sorry for him. This is the most geniune song I've ever heard....

  • @BlackSkyThunder really ? Martin Gore should give himself credit . he is a gifted musical writer

  • @BlackSkyThunder really ? Martin Gore should give himself credit . he is a gifted musical writer :)

  • @BlackSkyThunder totally agree this is one of my most favorite DM tracks. still listen to the album even now.

  • @BlackSkyThunder its one of there best, pure emotion......its the first album i ever heard of theres and i was blown away!

  • @BlackSkyThunder

Maybe most devoted fans dislike me, but in my opinion the SOTU album is the worst, because there is no ground or something styleforming sound. Except "Wrong" is a hard sound like "Barrel of a gun" or something.

From that case "A Broken Frame" is the better album, because they were younger and without the influnce and groundbreaking work of Alan Wilder!

Just the opinion of a devotee since 1982...;-)

  • @moments242 What do you mean there is no ground? Depeche mode is all about innovation and that's what SOTU is, and they already have reached such high standard you can't simply say that they don't have ''something styleforming sound'' listen to wrong, peace, miles away, corrupt, in chains and in simpathy THAT'S MATURITY!!!

  • @moments242 For me, there's no worst album. Less favorite, but not worst.

  • @moments242 Kinda new to the DM scene and kicking myself for it, but i find SOTU to be pretty solid, when i compare them to a band like U2, SOTU is incredibly original and relevant for a band thats been around so long. Ive been mostly sticking to earlier DM, but SOTU sounds more cohesive and interesting to me than Ultra & Exciter. The opening of In Chains, Hole To Fee & Wrong especially. I cant think of any band that can make something that interesting at this stage of their career

  • @BlackSkyThunder Exciter is the worst in my humble opinion, SOTU is next....

  • @BlackSkyThunder I think Martin said that because he had to do almost all of the work and was just getting his feet wet as a song writer, it must have been a stressful time for him after Vince Clarke left the band.

  • How could u dislike this?

  • 28 Dislikes?? Die you 28 dislikers you! ;)

  • Love this song...I remember hearing this song on my bed..I was 19 yrs ..34 now :-)

  • This is my all time favourite from DM. But must state here that even the music wasn't original, there was some kind of Polka layer that do not exist in album version. It really did not suite well.

  • Just enjoy these angels creating magic!

  • I love this song!

  • does anyone know the meaning of the woman with the sickle?

  • this is my summer's song

  • cant stop playing it :D

  • my all time favourite from Depeche Mode! Thank you for posting!

  • God I fucking adore this song, the jesus mix is great too

  • I have EVERY DM CD made,I think, lol. Have been a fan since the early 80's. I am now 39 oh and 1/2 years old, hahaha. This music never goes out of style and ALWAYS sounds fresh as the day it came out!! LOVE DM!

  • "You're the one I like best you retain my interest" how about "I'm eating beans on toast it's the meal I like most" I think my atempt was equally as good of not better!! lol.

  • I want this at my funeral, it's beautiful. Either this or 'Time' by Culture Club.

  • I´m so glad to live with this music for 10 yrs by now..and I´m the happiest girl to live with them till I die...

  • @efkagore

Glad to Live and lOVE them for 28 years now. First ever heard was "See You". First i bought "Everything Counts".

The last i heard "In Chains" ALAN WILDER REMIX.

    sELECTED.2011.

  • i beleive this rocks

  • Ein schöner Song... wie so viele von DM... love it

es gibt nur einen, den ich nicht mag... das ist "Just can´t get enough"

  • what a voice

  • Thing Song Always hitz home thank U Demode!!!!!!!!!!

  • Perfect Song! Perfect Band! Perfect life! Perfect DEPECHE MODE!

  • There is something so haunting about the image at 1:47 and the emotional melody that accompanies it. I can almost feel the strife that woman experiences.

  • DM '81-'92 ...... i love their albums ... from Speak & Spell to Violator martin gore ... i like his solo album .. COUNTERFEIT

  • @charlemagne321

    I agree.

The move towards more rock with "Songs of Faith and Devotion" put an end to DM's Golden Age.

  • Amooo esa canción!!!

  • beautiful, very, very very beautiful MASTERPIECE i love depeche mode new wave synthpop 80s tunes

  • no auto tune, no (c)rap... just plain good, innovative music and lyrics that had a meaning. The good old days will be missed.

  • @MrPittsburghJ It's funny how the firsts to say autotune is bad are the ones to say music made with electronic instruments only is "plain good". Not sure if trolling...

  • @BassAmbassada - So you think using electronic instruments (aka-keyboards) to create their music sounds... piano, drums, violins, bass, even rolling a fucking rock on a metal thing and recording it is the same as SINGING through Auto-tune throughout an entire song?! You are delirious buddy. & I was also referring to the WORDS. More than "slap a nigga, hoe bitch betta have muh money" shit

  • @MrPittsburghJ I answered to the "word" part first, 'cause it's the easier point to debate. If we hear that alot nowadays it's because the music industry believes it's what people wanna hear right now. I don't like it either but since i'm not an english speaker, I mean, I wasn't born in an english country so when I'm listenning to music, I can separate their meaning from their melody because most of the time the accent is so bad I don't understand. So I just focus on the singing or the flow.

  • @MrPittsburghJ The "autotune" part. It's boring now because it's overused and mainstream tends to go to "acoustic" vibes. But the wonderful thing is that autotuning the voice, t's just the begning of something else, like fake voices from little samples of your own voice, or things like Melodyne DNA wich can make you singing in tune, or tune your music AFTER playing... And the "best" part is that you won't hear any fucking difference. And that fake music started in 80's with those keyboards

  • @MrPittsburghJ So "using electronic instruments (aka-keyboards) to create their music sounds and recording it is the same as SINGING through Auto-tune ?" Yes, there's a link between those 2 things. And it's the same "logic" of faking the sounds you have.

I'm not sayin it's good or bad (I'm a musician, we like to experience sound), but I'm sayin that if you think autotune's bad, so you should think the same about the whole thing of faking sounds, even using a simple distortion pedal... peace !

  • @MrPittsburghJ Amen. ;)

  • beautiful song.

  • omg from the begining dm was inspired in such a complicated topic but anyway came such amazing result ....l love them...nice song!!!

  • Deeper than deep...has everything.

  • pleasure!!!!

  • ive been to see them live lots of times..they dont play the out of the way stuff even though the songs are brilliant .shame realy

  • i love this song

  • IL a vraiment un don , quelque chose.....c'' est au fond de lui ...et quand il chante.....le temps s ' arrete ....et ZUT DE ZUT ET RE-ZUT que c' est BON? divinement BON

  • read A comment on utube the other day that made me realize rock/pop music has changed and its sad, maybe its good i dont know as yet. music used to be cool (dont know the in word for cool, sic, dosnt do it for me.) this kid said, regarding some band "me and my dad are going to see them tonite". u c.. remember when music was elitest, parents dont get it, listen to the right sort of music. it's sad as kids have nada of their own anymore, few still hangin on, but fading. but its good 4 great music

  • beautiful, i love this not heard it before, i can defo hear this being remixed in NEW WAVE and DARK WAVE beautiful tune

  • "but there's too many Depeche Mode fans who turn a deaf ear to anything before Black Celebration"

Really? People don't know Speak and Spell? Crazy - most folk know "Just Can't get Enough"

  • I agree with the comment that said this is the best song from "A broken frame." This and "My secret garden" really make that album exceptional, though it is not among the most widely known DM albums. Supposedly this song was a catalyst for Alan Wilder leaving the band in '95, as he wanted to revive it on tour and Gahan and Gore did not.

  • @cubbiie I think that "leave in silence" is the best song on the album... but this one and "My Secret garden" are excellent... all of them could easily be updated (the synths are a little tinny in places).

  • hell of tune!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • This song IS truly excellent. Very emotional.

  • la mejor canción del disco... que la cante Martin con el piano en la próxima gira!!!

  • i love this song...but i'm still looking for the original video...is there any?

  • @medenillama Nope.

  • @Nakian first i thought this is original video lol

  • @basketballchickensod Thats the purpose of it i guess.

  • @medenillama

no, there is no original video

  • @medenillama this was never released as a single so no music video was made for it.

  • Gorgeous song, and a great video to go with it, congrats to its maker.

I admit it's only when I got older than I came to really appreciate the sadness behind this song.

  • este tema es genial!!!!!!deberian volver a tocarlo!!

  • Where is this version from? Amazing. x

  • Magic song, DM is the best !! =)

  • ATXville - I have quite a few DM 7"and 12" singles on vinyl.

However, I was a late starter to the band, I have only been a fan since New Life came out as a single.

  • I miss Alan...

  • KOcham to

  • ohh yes...

  • My all time favorite Depeche Mode song. This song never received the recognition it deserved.

  • Oh these remambrance!

I say only first dance, first kiss

    Never forget DM!

  • super video, magnifique montage, bravo!

  • Broken Frame Wow!!! Great Album..... Classic, classic Depeche....

  • C EST VERY BON

  • I find this song peaceful, very relaxing

  • Comment removed

  • this is my favorite track from a broken frame

  • Fletch is great

  • Does the audio come from the 5.1 mix?

  • @MrStolt YES!

  • @Nakian & Mr Stolt :

    5.1 ?

    Are you kidding?

This record was made on vynil, in f*cking good stereo.

    What else ?

  • nay dobrite ! this is the best of the bestand not only that song ,the whole album is great and i love it whit all of my heart

  • da kann auch dominatrix nichs ausrichten.orginal geht über alles.

  • the best DM song off alllll time

  • Depeche Mode means quick fashion.

  • @TheMagicianOfTime....Well Quick and last forever fashion.....

  • I think it was the naivete that made them so great - simplicity.

  • I miss DM parties anyone throw one in L.A. please contact me.

  • moja ulubiona piosenka <3333333

    pozDrawiaM

    kc..!

  • As much as i like this song (it's one of my fave d.m. songs) and the video you created for it is great, i must tell you this is not the original version from the album... I like the original tune better. You can hear it from 0:45-0:59 for example. Still great video creation.

  • @Virablatira WRONG!

  • @Nakian No, actually Mr. Stolt is correct. This is not the original album version, but rather a remix.

  • @cubbiie It is the 5.1 mix, in that sense its a remix yes.But its the remixed album version.

  • @cubbiie But it is close compared to the other remixes. I was very dissapointed at all the remixes here on youtube and so I found this one and said to myself , hey this is how it used to sound, and now you say it is a remix. ..... well, heck, I am not looking for any remixes I want the orriginal, but this one is pretty close to the original.

  • @Virablatira This is not the album version.

  • So good.I'm not sure Dave would remember the vocals right away though LOL

  • So good.

  • the first song i ever heard by depeche mode when it first came out. (yeah...i'm old...:-) ) still my very favorite, thanks for uploading this!

  • why do they bother making new songs when the classics are so good?

  • @niswel

    Because they can.

  • Simply the best ever DM track!!!

  • Einer der "Insiderhits".

  • GREAT SONG!!!

  • the best song from "a broken frame" album

  • @78maliniak I AGREE .SHOULD HAVE BEEN RELEASED AS ASINGLE WHAT AWASTE. BRILLIANT ALBUM UNDER RATED.

  • @deancook07

A Broken Frame is indeed underrated. Although many of the songs are naivistic it is still good pop, and this particular one is one of the best of their early songs.

  • @McLarenMercedes best album of DM for me...

  • A Broken Frame is GREAT CLASSICS!!!

  • "A broken frame" ! An album so good and atmospheric from the first to the last track! one of my favourites by D.M. and i really can't understand that it flopped! i will always love it :-)))

  • What can I say more? Exceptional, timeless piece of Synth-Pop...............

  • Definitely one of my all time DM faves... kinda lingering and melancholy, I thought it was a fitting end to the album.

  • a song lost in time

  • He de confesar, mi rola favorita del album, lo que me gusto de la edición, es la simboligía de la portada les quedó muy bien y con una presentación en vivo, vaya de 10. la parte que más me gusta ¨You´re the one i like best, you retrain my interest, you´re the only one¨

  • danke danke danke..DEMO..is very great!!! der song dazu..erinnert mich an die schönste zeit meiner jugend!!!;-)))))

  • SUPER SUPER DEPECHE MODE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!1

  • Someone won't call.. .

  • @Btelgeuse Same here :D

  • Ahhhhh, Classic Synth!!!! Sounds soooo good. One of my favs!

  • super video, clasic on all DM party's :)

  • @soultaker242 What does that mean?

  • @Nakian Depeche Mode maybeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee -.-

  • this is music!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!:)

  • Best song on the "A Broken Frame" album.

As a matter of fact one of their best early songs. Should be played live, but there's too many Depeche Mode fans who turn a deaf ear to anything before Black Celebration. Such a shame.

  • @McLarenMercedes So true!! This is song is just....there are no words for this moving song...it is my favorite of favorite DM songs...I just recently got into them so I dont care if its b4 Black Celebration.. I hope one day I can see them live and playing this song ^_^

  • @ingrata74

Seen them live 4 times. The 3rd time was by far the best. Although they did play3-4 of their early songs the 3rd time I saw them, they didn't play this. Anyway, a Martin Gore acoustic version of "Leave in Silence" was good enough.

The first time I heard "The Sun and the Rainfall" it didn't make much impression on me. Felt kinda odd ending the album which such a long song. Over time it grew on me, and now I really like it.

Here's to your wish coming true.

  • @McLarenMercedes True ! This is among the best ones from this long-play. Some used to say that they got their worst work with that long- play .What about me, I don't think so - was really remarkable one .

  • @McLarenMercedes should DM play all great songs, they did until today, in a live show, it would take probably a whole day to complete the show..............there are too many Great DM songs...out there!

  • @McLarenMercedes I turn a deaf ear AFTER Black Celebration!

  • @SKOTP69 Do you like any songs from Music for the Masses or Violator?

    Shake the Disease?

    Policy of Truth?

    The Things You Said?

    Enjoy the Silence?

  • @DunedanRanger I bought on of the first import copies of Black Celebration in Melbourne in early 1986, and that record so encapsulated many of my thoughts and feelings at that time. Depeche Mode were very big to me then. A year later, in early 1987, I bought one of the first, maybe the first, import copies of Music For The Masses. It didn't grab me as much. 'Never Let Me Down' and 'Strangelove' I liked, but the rest of the album seemed to empty and oblique. I did like 'Enjoy The Silence' and
