Lol, "alien attacks". I'm on my 4th rugby. The hinge on the right side cracked after 1 1/2 years on my recent one. Dropped the 2nd one in a pitcher of beer on accident which finally killed it after many submersions. The 1st shit the bed after after the wire harness on the charger came loose and wouldn't charge anymore. I agree with you on the "torture proof" phone. It's got limitations like everything else.

Very true. We had a guy come in and speak to an engineering class that was recruiting for automobile parts manufacture/design so that they would fall apart withing about 100 miles of predicted failure. Talk about a bunch of thieves really. By the way, I received my Rugby 2 and it is much easier to text on with the larger numbers and seems to have better battery life.

Mine has survived an extreme amount of abuse. But I can understand why the screen cracked, that's is its weak point. I have kicked mine against a concrete wall, talked on it in the shower, and dropped it more times than I can count. But I got pissed about a bad call and punched it. The screen cracked on me too. Love everything else.

@autofixation Well as stated above the lady at the AT&T store said the screens aren't construction grade. My reply was then the phone's not rugged. My BIL got the Sonim XP3 Quest , supposedly the worlds toughest phone and his LCD's all scratched. Once again not the rugged tank it's made out to be.

Glad you made this. I bought this about 6 months ago and haven't had any issues yet. Awesome to know I can get spare parts if something dooes happen to it though. It has come flyin' ouit of my pocket and dropped on the concrete many times and it has held up nicely. Has a battered look now, but I dig that.

@JGCSOUND Thanks. When I called Samsung with my complaints they didn't have much to say in their defense except " were sorry for your frustrations " . When I mentioned the Klenexx incident they said well the LCD screen is the only thing on that phone that's not construction grade. I was like oh golly gee LOL that's the most important thing because the screen is what catches the most hell.

There are many plastics out there such as Polycarbonate that are scratch proof. I don't know why cell phone companies don't use them
