@OneNationUnderGodUSA Do you mean the "good ole days" of racial segregation? The "good ole days" when the world was at war, and there was a little thing called the holocaust. Are they the same "good ole days" when lots of childen were crippled with polio? Those "good ole days?"
Brought back a lot of memories - we used to sing on our school bus, along with Goodnight Irene, You won't see Maggie again (ancient tunes I know) but were great then....thanks for the post and the memories...I told my daughter about this when we watched his Disney movies.
Ah, When music was fun and lyrics were upbeat and positive! Today we drown in darkened computer generated realities and have music with lyrics that would have had Grandma washing your mouth out with soap, if we said them as kids!
@01musicfan I'm disappointed, I thought for sure the person that uploaded this vid would know what was in that box. To be honest, I doubt if the person that wrote the song even knows what's in that damn box :)
@01musicfan A live hand would be neat to some people but terryfying to others, it's funny I dreamed that someone FINALLY revieled what it was and it was a Freddy's Krueger glove that was ALIVE! lol
This original recording of ''The Thing'' by Phil Harris hit no. 1 on the charts the fourth week of November 1950 -- and stayed in the no. 1 spot for four consecutive weeks.
How fun!! I remember this and would never have remembered without your post.! Thank you!! Love it!! When music was FUN!! Things were so much happier then!

It was 'inspired(?)' by the movie "The Thing", starring a young James Arness.
I agree, one of Phil Harris's best records, along with "That's What I Like About The South".

@copnite12342 Yes, the same dude, he did several Disney films. Maybe it's a bill from the IRS, or an audit notification.

The clues are all there in the song. "The thing" is what the Americans call "a social disease".
