a beautiful movie. a very talented, young cast, proving, again, the developing strength of romanian cinema. as to content - revolution can never be 'tidy'. the romanian people were living under an all powerful tyrant. what happened is a tribute to their bravery. thank you so much for the subtitles. i do wish the two boys had survived.

but i am pretty sure the people shouting at ceausescu during his last speech were more than a charade of iliescu. by the way i see not the point why the soldiers killed each other for no more reason than a wrong password. seems they saw traitors and treachery in everyone and everything (so the securitate must have done a quite good job at demoralizing and threathening romanian people through the years)

it started with the bulshit about so called terorists(ceausescu's secret mercenaries) trying to seize power and save ceausescu. the reality is that in fact the people from securitate were the ones who spreaded thismisleading information which then resulted in bloodshed. Iliescu was one of them, with deep connections in state security, educated in moscow to be a master in desinforming and controlling the crowds.

well I dont know if you were familiar with what happened in this so called revolution but after 20 it turned out that all the killing was a result of misunderstanding between various army groups.

Moreover it seems that the wrong information was deliberately! sent to army groups by the people trying to take the power. As a consequence the soldiers killed one another because of missunderstanding. So the "revolution" was nothing but a charade dictated by people like iliescu. Final count 4000 people died and nobody was held accountable for it. This is the truth about the romanian coup of december 89....

...and the consequence was that in fact iliescu together with all state security guys took the power thus stealing the revolution from the people. They are responsable for more than a half of the deaths and funny enough they never answered for this. Now indeed the very starting moments of the events in timisoara were a genuine revolution even though the population was highly influienced (even instigated) by radio broadcasts such as 'free europe' etc.
