I think I get the line of thought behind moving the frets like that. The catch seems to be that no matter where the frets are,fretting stretches the string and changes the pitch slightly.How about a fretless guitar? then someone who plays by ear anyhow can match the pitch intuitively.

@thema6ician Haha, that's a Beneteau... hand-built by Marc Beneteau. It's thousands of dollars. Even if you could find a 7 string acoustic somewhere, it wouldn't be fanned.

I'm one of Craig's students and he was kind enough to let me try out his guitars... amazing instruments.
