I don't want to come across as insensitive, but I am amazed that more people weren't killed in this tornado. The videos are unbelievable. The true story here might not be that 141 people have died... it may be that thounsands and thousands were able to survive this. It is some of the worst damage I've seen.
I dont think thats insensitive at all. Our house was damaged to the point that we have to have it torn down, several people said it was a miracle that we all walked out of it unharmed (no physical damage to us) but after seeing other houses that were just piles of wood it made me so sad for those families that were more exposed to the storm than we were. There were 2 rooms still untouched in our house and the closet we were all in was one of them
@js30blackhawks2010 but even our local papers say that while its sad that over 100 people died, its amazing that soo many people made it alive in such a dangerous storm. This tornado was a nightmare come to life for sure, but the outpouring of wishes and thoughts, donations, prayers etc has made us strong. The shock has just left me in the last 24 hours so I am finally able to watch these videos and appreciate our lives that were saved! :)

Why are you so focused on the race of the town, maybe we should be applauding Joplin because after the tornado (which you can not pin point where its going to touch down days before it happens) they were out looking for people and beginning the efforts to rebuild, they did not ask for handouts, you don't hear them whining that they need more money. Most of the damage was caused by cement levees breaking indirectly from the winds of the hurricane. Obviously something happen there that affected you, possibly directly that I think it would be good if you talked it out with other NOLA victims. Let the anger and its ugly cousin subside. I don't want to come across as insensitive, but I am amazed that more people weren't killed in this tornado. The videos are unbelievable. The true story here might not be that 141 people have died... it may be that thounsands and thousands were able to survive this. It is some of the worst damage I've seen.

Our house was damaged to the point that we have to have it torn down, several people said it was a miracle that we all walked out of it unharmed (no physical damage to us) but after seeing other houses that were just piles of wood it made me so sad for those families that were more exposed to the storm than we were. There were 2 rooms still untouched in our house and the closet we were all in was one of them

@js30blackhawks2010 but even our local papers say that while its sad that over 100 people died, its amazing that soo many people made it alive in such a dangerous storm. This tornado was a nightmare come to life for sure, but the outpouring of wishes and thoughts, donations, prayers etc has made us strong. The shock has just left me in the last 24 hours so I am finally able to watch these videos and appreciate our lives that were saved! :)

Why are you so focused on the race of the town, maybe we should be applauding Joplin because after the tornado (which you can not pin point where its going to touch down days before it happens) they were out looking for people and beginning the efforts to rebuild, they did not ask for handouts, you don't hear them whining that they need more money. They are greatful for being alive and thankful for every thing that has been donated.

@NinerGreen There are humans in NOLA. NOLA WAS FRENCH, after all. NOLA is far from the rest of the south, and is considered the center of culture. Had you lived or spent much time in the region to actually know what you are talking about, you probably wouldn't have posted that. Ah... but you strike me as the type who farts their opinion first, and smells is second. I knjow CA politics. I don't need instruction in it by YOU. Yet, OC does vote their country over their party, when needed.

I have spent much time in NOLA, in Memphis, and in fact traveled all over the south since I first hitchhiked it at age 16. I know the poeple. I know the politics. I know NOLA has far more HUMANE people, and therefore HUMAN people in it, and is far more representative of the US than some 91% white haven (Joplin). That is clear, based on the demographics alone

You're equating an entire city's population with one political party and one view on life. Do you know every single person in Joplin? Have you interviewed each of them on their views? MONGOloid help me with my geography and cement engineering. Is NOLA not in the South (more south than Missouri)? Most of the damage was caused by cement levees breaking indirectly from the winds of the hurricane. Obviously something happen there that affected you, possibly directly that I think it would be good if you talked it out with other NOLA victims. Let the anger and its ugly cousin subside. Hug it out.

@TraquilFuse It's in the south... yet, it has far more humans, per capita, than the rest of the south. It was French before America purchased it, after all. I shave spent much time in the region, in NOLA, and throughout the Gulf states and the Bible belt region. NOLA is MUCH different. That is why the neighboring redneck trash come to NOLA for Mardi Gras. It is the only civilization in that part of the world.
