Exactly how old is this video taken? Very interesting stuff... the real carriers of Hmong dialect in China......... ? ... at least compared to the Hmong dialect from people in Laos, Thailand, and the US (etc.)... :)
Miao is the official name used in China for Hmong/Mong,Hmu,AHmao,Qho Xiong. The term Miao can't be taken away for these few reasons:1,Miao is already used as an official name for our group. 2, Miao has long been writen in history referrence to our group and to keep that history we must keep Miao. And there are l a lot more reasons but there is not enough space to list them here. So the easiest way is to keep it as is and add your subgroup. i.e. Miaohmong,Miaohmu,MiaoAhmao, Miaoqhoxiong.

You were right, I experienced similar feelings that was why I decided to bridge that gap through a marriage. Now I have six lovely children with a Hmong Chinese woman.
Wow! She has a very beautiful voice, almost identical to Mim Haam. I enjoyed this song very much. The lyrics are heart-warming yet very sad too.
Am impressed that Wang Li and Ling Lee can sing (speak) the Western Hmong dialect so well. I can understand both completely unlike other Miao artists - Mim Haam and Ayouduo.
Yes Hmong people we must love each others regardless where we live, where we are, keep in mind we are Hmong! I would welcome any hmong from anywhere into my home.
anotherzly, i don't think it is the same music. Wang Li just sing it like Keev Laam Koj Yog Ib Rev Paaj. i don't think she is White too. i still hear her green dialect in singing. maybe she was influnced by white hmong who help her produce her music and turn it to white. in the west, hmong hardly sing green dialect because of the market. unless you know Wang Li personally.
Very sweet and melodious voice. Thanx for posting! Do you have any mv of Ntxhiav Mim Lis (Chinese Hmong singer, too)? I can't remember the title but there's this one song where she sings in gratitude to her mom. It was a beautiful song. Thanks.
Sorry for the misunderstanding. When I said Mab Sua's version, I meant the one of her alone, without Tub. I've seen the one with Tub once only, so I won't say much. Why people dislike her version? I guess everyone has different taste or standard. I don't think she can hit the high notes that well. It just doesn't sound as pleasing as when Mim Haam does it. Again, everyone has their own opinions, and no one's right or wrong.
Yes, there is. My dad has a DVD of her singing a bunch of Mim Haam's songs including the one we're talking about. I thought there was a video of Mab Sua's version of the song on Youtube. I thought I saw it long ago.

I seem to be in tears. remembering our true origin make me very emotional as the song details the circumstances which forced us out of china.

The White dialect, in China, is a mixture of other dialect. There are many type of Hmong/Mong/Miao in China. Some of I know are:
White Hmong, Mong Sib, Mong Xauv, Mong Pua, Mong Peg, Mong Sib, Mong black, Mong Leng, Mong Green. Their dialects and their singings are different.
Ntxhiav Mis Lis is Mong Xauv Xeem Lis. She married to husband Hmong White Xeem Yang. So, she sings in White Hmong.

Sorry I only hear White dialect with a touch of hua zu accent I don't hear nothing in leng dialect thats my take.

sang good, but I prefer not to change the words from original version

I prefer the original lyrics by Mee Hang. Wang Li sang well though, much much much better than Mab Sua (who in my opinion killed the song).

Why so many people hate Mab Sua's version... I don't think that's that bad, at least we can enjoy Tub's voice...lol.
