If you did, then you would know that this is not their only rendition of this song. Are we not to make a joyful noise unto the Lord? The etymology of Hymns are fascinating.

In 1873, A laywer's 4 daughters died when the ship they were on with their mother collided with another. The mother was spared and the lawyer boarded a ship to bring her home. On the way, Captain called the lawyer to the bridge and explained that this very spot is where the ship sank that killed his 4 daughters. The Lawyer returned to his bunk and penned the words to this hymn.
