Copaxone Injections - MS

I'm going on month 4 with copaxone and my thighs are an issue! I noticed in this video you said you didn't inject there, What do you do instead?

I am afraid to use the autoinject device. I think the anxiety and anticipation of waiting for contact scares me. Thanks for the arm crossing idea. I was way off, too...more on my shoulder. I get welts. Stomach is the easiest.

Ive also been on Copaxone for about 3 months now. And Im getting on with it pretty well. The only problems I did come across was quite a large welt where I had injected myself but when discussed with Helen, my very nice MS nurse, it was suggested that perhaps the needle was not going in deep enough. Ive now adjusted it up to 10 rather than 8 so it goes in deeper and now, no welts!

PS- Thank goodness for the UK and the NHS and free meds in Wales otherwise I would go bankrupt very quickly!

My Fiancee has MS and he takes Copaxone and sometimes it's not painful but some days it is. It's hard to watch him take these shots...I pray you find strength to get through this as well!

@r3gr3ssor what do you mean oh no i take copaxone but havent got the neve up to do the thigh. i used to inject avonex into the thigh but heck no nom more. so im gona have problems with the thigh? i inject copaxone everywhere else and i love it copared to the others. what should i expect

I too am on Copaxone. It is garbage. I rarely take it though. Have you had the reaction where you feel like you're having a heart attack? It's pretty scary. If you inject it into muscle that really seems to hurt. Butt is where your largest muscle on your body is located. Lastly, neurologists are WORTHLESS. They can't help us and just wait till you mention CCSVI to this new neuro. He will dismiss it entirely or know nothing about it. Guaranteed. They want you on the $3k a month Copaxone forever!

Thanks for the advice. And yes, I'm using the Autoject. I don't think I could do it if it wasn't for that.

I WISH I had zero body fat. LOL! I've tried the ice prior to the injections and the heat after. Neither made enough of a difference to make it worth the extra 10 minutes or so I spent doing both.

Since you are so new to this I wanted to make sure you try and find other areas to rotate,

After you have been on it a while you will probably start getting some lumps and dents in your skin.

Without more areas to inject and rotate you might have more of that since you are limiting where you are doing them.

Have you tried icing the area first?. That can really help take the sting out.

I just came accorss this video. I was on Copaxone for 3 1/2 years. You look like a pretty small person with zero body fat!

I has plenty of meat on me so I could do my shots pretty much anywhere. Which helps since you have to rotate them.

I could do the shots up higher on my arms as well as the backside. I did do my thighs mostly on the outside never the indside.

The upper hip area and close to the butt.

Hi, I was on copaxzone my nurse that showed me some great tips! If you use an auto injector?

I also due to calcium depoists in the thighs could not do my legs.

If you have an autojet take one of those heavy duty rubberbands to the bottom of the jet twist over 1 time and place at the top of the jet.. this by passing the safety button, you can reach everywhere LOL and in the bum just count to 10 works.

I just hold my arm up like waving hello with the rubberband on and done really helps!
