  • That speak and Spell is all fun and games till the batteries run down. The voice pitch gets *higher*, stati noises fill the background, and the whole thing goes loco and the power of does not even work when it gets to that point! that kid would be screaming bloody murder.

  • m&m commercial... nahhh was that a commodore 64 i just saw? or a really odd shaped mac computer lol

  • I had a Speak N Spell computer when I was a kid.

  • I am going to trade in my ROCKSTAR edition Etnies for a pair of Zips!

  • I remember those bubble yums they were good

  • The guy doing the voice-over for Zips is the guy who played "Big Fig" in the classic Fig Newton ads. Love that York ad: "Lovely, Arthur, you win a silver. Now don't ever put your fuckin' feet on my coffee table ever again!" Drag King - isn't that what they call the guy who wins on "RuPaul's Drag Race"? Very convincing read of her lines by Lauralee Bell . . . just kidding, she's awful. No feeling whatsoever. The robot girl from "Small Wonder" was a better actress than her.

  • I learned how spell using the red speak n spell. It was so much fun.

  • 5:24 ....nice poses hahahaaaaa...they sure knew what was cool back then

  • "I asked her for Adidas and she bought me ZIPS!"

  • wow.

  • OMG I had the speak and spell! I had the math one and another that was yellow...

  • 0:14 SPECIAL KID SHOOSS

  • Commercials have lost their wholesomeness and make no sense today!

  • Oh my gosh!!! I forgot all about that York peppermint patty commercial. I miss the older commercials.

  • I dont remember drag kings... but i wonder how funny they looked with the vermont plates...

ho hum... solid bright green plate with lame white txt....

Oh and Bubble Yum = Best gum atleast for me.

The Legend of Zelda comercial wasn't that the guy from Ghost Busters 2 that played the lead art curator or whatever

  • I'm illiterate today thanks to the scary white-haired man who made me afraid of books.

  • You can't beat my Chrysler Reliant with Wyoming plates!

  • @pinnaclelwf Or my Dodge Dart with Florida plates. I'm quite the hit at the retirement village in my sweet ride (LOL).

  • I remember thinking Zips would make me run faster. Those and Wildcats! Those commercials were always on WPIX, channel 11(11 alive)

  • I remember wanting that damn robot soooooo bad!

  • wait....that sounded like Casey Kasem doing the voice of Robin in that create-a-villain commercial. Odd.

  • That's Casey, all right. He was the voice of Robin in various Hanna Barbera "Super Friends" series for years -- circa 1970s and 1980s. Others heard in this commercial include Danny Dark and Olan Soule. What their connection was to Post cereal, I don't know.

  • Let's see here...commercials are supposed to make you WANT to buy the product, right? Maybe the reason why I didn't have The Legend of Zelda for the NES when I was a kid is because of the annoying commercial with the eraserhead kid yelling ZELDA!! Little did I know the game was great, but how could you tell? The ads were just obnoxious.

  • I want the car with the "drag king" license plate!!

  • Wow today Velcro shoes are only worn by seniors and those with motor skill deficits.

  • I never ate Alpha Bits, ever. No particular reason, just never got around to it I guess.

  • Wow, the shoe commericial. Its terrible how lazy they were trying to make us BACK THEN.

  • I still remember the words to most of these.

  • Does anyone remember the Checkermint Bubble Yum commercial.

  • "It's a Double Decker Mint"... sending you a PM

  • millions will enter and....um.... you'll all get puffy stickers! YEAH, go get em puffy stickers...

  • puffy stickers... why did they always smell funny? i found some "mr. t" ones and put them on my guitar amp. lol

  • Zelda! LORL!!

  • wow quite a few psa's! :) omg pat sajack was so young and looked so different! i love him haha and ill never stop loving m&ms my favv! SUPERMAN and the JUSTIC LEAGUE TOO!! bill cosby for speak n' spell ! <33haha im getting too excited!

  • Thanks for posting ...

laugh, i loved my nintendo but even i didn't know each of the enemies names in zelda lol. I only got nintendo power for awhile and as a kid i didn't read manuals heh...

So which villian was created based on the contest? :)

I think i have a old speak and spell somewhere too. Didn't it say anything including curse words heh.... gonna watch your other installments next...

  • In modern commercials, the Peppermint Pattie commercial wife would be disgusted by the husband's behaviour, not play along.

I agree that the Zelda commercial could have been way better.

  • Ah the Regan Years before POLITICAL CORRECTNESS destroyed america (ugh!)

  • The Zelda guy was a riot. I wonder who got the idea to make a loony advertise the video game.

  • Do they still make puffy stickers? I remember I had a cabbage patch kids book that you decorated with puffy stickers. I cut my nail beds on the edges of them and got super cross when the puffy part would tear off of the backing and wreck the sticker.

  • The puffy part causes cancer.
