I live in Boston, Ma and I can't tell you how angry I am how there is practically no African population around where I live. no dance clubs, no groups, parties, community, nothing. If there is, its a needle in a haystack, you aint finding it. @praia29 exactly, that's all I ever hear about Cape Verdeans when asked about their origins. They are so quick to point out the "Portuguese" heritage and NEVER anything about being Africans. I am Haitian and there are some Light Skinned Haitians in our culture, im sure you know that, but you will never really hear them say that they are of French heritage. That slavery effect and independence from them is why Haitians would not really associate themselves as being French tho we could speak it.
