I knew aboutthe Drifters in my early 20s and really liked them but when I heard this song it brought a whole new meaning to my life. I cannot express what this song does to me. Possibly greatest drifters song ever. Thanks for posting I just love it!
I love Ben E. king and the drifters this music is the best the melody is great combined with his voice and the harmony is sensational. I wish that they still wrote music like this. @chip10289 I love susie q it's one of my favorite disney movies I have'nt seen it in years. whoever dislikes this song does'nt know shit from shinola.
I am going on 71, and have always loved the music from the 50's to 70's maybe a few in the early part of the 80's The groups that sang so great, all so dressed properly.
Conjure-up the image of that "special someone" from long ago, from another time. Let your memory take you back... and there you are. Entwine your arms around your one-and-only, as you glide through the crowd... you're there again, and the Drifters are singing -- everything that was perfect is just so again!
They were the first doo wop group to record with a symphony orchestra , I remember Ben E. King saying that in an interview , no other doo wop group sounded like them and their sound really stood out
Yes it is hard to find, when you search it usually gives you the Save the last Dance tune. There goes my baby was a good movie, I really like the movies that are set back in the 50's with the cars and music. Disney had a film called Susie Q and if you get a chance it has a ton of great Doo wop songs....bad news it was never released to VHS or DVD yet, but you tube has the movie in all its parts :)

schwarzfalk 1 year ago
@schwarzfalk No. They don't have a best hit. They have best hitS, they were masters and you can't pick a single best, only the ten best.

@SoloPilot6 mm you're absitively right. perhaps I meant - and should've said - "my favourite of their hits" ^^
and btw the Drifters totally own the Platters

I've loved the Drifters since the mid 50s. they are like my oldest friends. and still are.
Will there ever be anything like them again? Sadly we lost a few. like Johnny Moore.
Being a singer Myself , I still love to sing their songs. Thanks Carlosc2170. Frisco Kid
