Greece has one of the highest populations of gypsies in the world, i think just behind Turkey. Im Greek and I think my grandmothers side has gypsy bloodline. People mistake me sometimes for Persian or Lebanese, which is the case with many Greeks. Gypsy (Γυφτοι) is a Greek word which comes from the word Aigyptos (Αιγυπτος) meaning Egypt, because in Greece gypsies were first thought to come from Egypt, which isnt the case all the time. The may originate from north India or Persia.
