every growing crystal release heat while growing, i do not know about sodium acetate, if you can solve it and cristallize it rapidly then there is a good chance it works, some salts are hard to solve and crystallize slowly so then it will not work, for example potassium alum will not give such an hot ice block
At the beginning it's about 15 up to 20 celsius, and then while cristallizing it become up to 30 celsius, so it is hot but not very hot, it is amazing that cristallization release heat, this is why i have to mix constantly the liquid for alum crystals, in this video the heating crystals produce heat and move water with that heat ! and no mixting water system needed
wow cool, thanks, you know your crystals, i myself are making my own crystals lol salt crystals that is very beginner too haha any tips for growing salt crystals?
if you want small crystals of NaCl salt you can do as i do i my seed crystal video, to get bigger crystal you'll have to get the solution move with a propeller, cover the container to keep humidity over the solution, and then if you got something like a cube then you can do as my mini lab in my others videos with injection of hot solution while growing your crystal, good luck from the simple way (seed) to the crystal generator, to a simple container going to a mini lab, see my other videos
lol yeh i make them the old-school way just hot water make saturated solution with salt get button orsomething tie it to the end of the string and wait. lol haha but recently i have been using a salt crystal as a 'seed'. question i boil the water while dissolving the salt then a small crusty layer of salt crystals form while boiling should i leave that in when i put it in a jar or take it out?
take it out or put the liquid part in an another container, let cooling the solution and put the seed before complete cooling, if you put it too late then it will be many crystal everywhere in the container, the seed have to dissolve a little bit before growing while the cooling is complete, too soon the seed will dissolve too much
i never bought a crystal growing kit, i have learned how to do this by myself, the most difficult thing to do is to growing one perfect crystal at a time, and you will see that in most of my others videos
