I got one about a week ago, put 50 rounds through it and the front sight fell off. Sent it back and it should be fixed, getting it tomorrow but even the first 50 rounds was no problem.
Did you do a full review on this gun? I just did a trade for one that had 50 rounds through it and I like to hear what you think on it. Great vid and music.
Good shooting. I purchased a 1911 GI Expert from Para USA about 3 months ago. It was a little hesitant to feed certain types of ammo until after the first 300 rounds or so. Now I trust it it with my life. I have even mixed different types of ammo in the mags (factory) and it wont jam. Yea the finish might get worn down from your holster, but so will any other finish in time.. Besides, guns aren't meant to be babied. Unless its an Ed Brown. :)
peacemaker181 I carry a Glock 19 for ccw, and before that a Springfield XD, and before that a Kel Tec P11... Non of which have a manual safety, so I have to constantly remind myself that a 1911 isn't a grab a squeeze gun.. sometimes I forget lol...
I just can't get used to these Poly-whatsit wonders. I need to feel a little weight in my hands and for that, nothing beats a good old fashioned Slabside.
@TrustkillProductionz polymer has it's place in the gun world also, lighter for all day carry ;) It's just a matter of personal preference, I carry a Glock 30SF for CCW, i've carried 1911's also in the past, just a tad bit heavy and big fo IWB carrying IMO
@ThatHmoobGuy price is right around $500 even, and the mags it comes with are garbage, get some Wilsons or Chips, and it will be as reliable as a Kimber
@jtbolyard88 Well if you want to carry IWB, use a Crossbreed Supertuck holster best IWB holster you can buy IMO. OWB, use a Galco leather holster, those work great too :)
I checked one of these out at a gun show a few weeks back and I really want one. I've heard horror stories about the Para-Kote, so I'm gonna hold out til I can get a stainless one. The one I handled was the stainless version, and fit and finish were amazing for a $500-600 gun. The slide/ frame fit was perfect with absolutely no rattle and the action was smooth as butter. I can't wait to get one.
i bought one about a month ago and its awesome, i just got the hogue grips and now its even better, but the paracote sucks, it seems like every time i touch it, some of the finish comes off, but the pistol works perfect every time (wich is the absolute most important)...
@Rubengt303 Yeah the parakote really isn't the best finish, but the weapon itself is like a clock :) I traded mine for my Panther AR-15 And i really do miss it! I'm thinking about getting another
I'm in that video I was using Winchester White Box, (for the range of course) But if i carry this weapon for personal protection I use Federal Hydra Shok
Well I got my tax money, and sold the hi point C9 for $135.00. My C9 was a jewel a heavy one tough. After seeing all the reviews and reading about it online. I bought a Ruger P95. Also bought a Armscor 206 38 Slp, a Bersa 380 for my wife, and placed a mint condition Rem 870 12ga shotgun on layaway. Only $239.00. a still. Also bought my 5 foot wife a 1500 king cab chevy silverado. Used but mint condtion. Also bought lots of ammo. I stimulated the gun, ammo and the used car business.
LOOLZ yeah i blew some of my tax money on guns too, Bought my wife a Walther P22 for plinking, and i bought a Remington 770 720W, and a folding stock for my Mossburg XD, The rest went to catching up on bills and stuff :) Didn't need another car, i already have 2 XD (good job on selling that High Point, two BIG thumbs up!!!) Ruger's are awsome firearms, i'm planning on getting one soon
WOW there are a lot of armchair operators in here. You'll get it dude. Everyone has to start somewhere. I'm sure these guys are awesome at clearing stoppages......on modern warfare.
@sailor4freedom, I know right, i don't remember putting the words "Tactical" or "How To Clear Stoppages" anywhere in my video description.... Lolz I sure can make a video about that kind of thing though if people are that concerned
Nice vid...I personally prefer DA/SA firearms...but since I'm always on a budget...this is one of the 1911s that I would get if I have the money to burn on .45 ammo.
@ Mrbeanutube, the Para Kote is pretty durable, however if you practice drawing from a leather holster like I do, then after a while parts of it will start to wear. Not too worried, if i ever feel the need i can bring it to a gunshop and have them Dura Coat it for pretty cheap.
I am on my 2nd Para and find the Para cote to suck.On my GI Expert the finish is worn all most never holstered, and they missed lots of areas on pistol totaly with Para cote. I did a video on it.Thanks for the reply
Safety First. Don't put you'r thumb near the slider on the top of the firearm.. id like to see you get major pinching on your thumb while trying to shoot an uncocked pistol!
I just got one of these used from a gun show. Im in love. Its the first Semiauto handgun I can call mine. So far I run maybe 200 rounds through it. the only time it didnt feed was with a reloaded cartridge that was too long. I plan on gettin some McCormick mags, and a .400 corbon barrel.
I had a few buddies that bought these in a group when they were deployed and got a good deal. So once we got back we went to Guns Plus and shot them. I was disappointed with the performance of the Para 1911s vs my Springfield Armory TRP Operator.
The Para had some jams, so we cleaned it and lubed it and still had some issues. It wasnt like it jammed every other shot but it was about every 4th or 5th mag one or two would jam. We started using the Wilson ETM and had no issues So I would say if you were interested in Para please get Wilson ETM (Elite Tactical Magazine) to prevent any issues of jamming. Over all Para makes quailty weapons especially 1911s.
We had several jams right out of the box and the it is wants the GI Expert it was the P14 and Im not sure how you could even compare the GIA to the TRP Operator its like comparing a Kia and a Corvette.
Not really, lots of weapons have a "break in period" you can expect some jams during this time, But in all honesty the Para magazines are crap, i use Chip Mcormick in mine, no more jams at all :)
Just picked up a Para GI Expert today. You can't beat it for the price and I've loved every Para I've ever fired. I'm leaving the Benning area tomorrow to head to my buddy's range about an hour from here (1000 yards). He has a Ciener .22 LR conversion kit. We'll see if it works. Not all 1911's are the same and, consequently, the conversion kits for the 1911 aren't universal. I'll post back here if my buddy's works with the GI Expert.
I just headed about 50 miles south of Benning and shot on my buddy's range. The Ciener .22 LR conversion kit for the 1911 does NOT fit the Para GI Expert. The Ejector is slightly off so the slide doesn't even get past it.
Just picked mine up the other day and absolutely LOVE IT!!!! Affordable, full sized, basic G.I. setup but with a few modern parts like the skeletonized hammer, lowered and scalloped ejection port, and chamber check hole.
my brother and i bought 2 of them and took them shooting last week. all i can say is they shot really well. put 100 rounds through each pistol. only malfuntion was caused by a magazine. more of a magazine failure than a gun failure which caused a jam. i have to give this gun a 10 out of 10. the price is cheap, the accuracy is suprising and the did i mention the price is cheap. get the para GI expert if your looking for a cheap accurate 1911
would you consider doing a tabletop review on the GI expert. my next gun is going to be a 1911 and since im not at a 1911 expert and it will be my first 1911 ive been researching this gun, rock island arms, the springfield GI .45, the Charles Daly, and the Taurus. im still leaning towards the Para but all i can find is written reviews. Yours is just about the only video of the GI expert i can find...
Bleed and Jared, i would love to do a tabletop review on the Para GI Expert, but i am currently deployed right now, and the Army wouldn't let me take it with me :( So as soon as i get back, i'll do a review for you guys ;P
you don't even live in America - you're profile says you live in the UK -gun's aren't the problem they are just tools people can easily kill other people with knives, shovels, bats, ropes, power tools, cars.. you gonna ban those too, people need to change and become responsible and good natured toward one another, society needs to change... guns never hurt anyone, ever! they only do what their master's bid them to do... so short answer: your not even from this country -fuck off!
if i was flinching, my shot groups would be all over the target, seeming as most of my groups are touching at a range of 30 feet, i doubt if you could call that "flinching"
Yes, it was clearly flinching. At least twice, you flinched when it didn't fire. And you should know the drill to clear any malfunction, including what to do when you first pull the trigger and it doesn't fire. Tap rack go?
hey i am 15 and geting in to target shooting and i have been shooting with my dad glock and a .22 what do you think about this gun for me? cheepist 1911 i can find
The Para GI Expert 1911 is a great entry lvl 1911, upgradeable, accurate, reliable. AWSOME weapon for the price, and comes with a lifetime warrenty! (Only down side is .45 ACP ammo costs a lot : I highly recommend this weapon to anyone!
You can get a 22lr conversion kit for it. If you were to take that to a tactical training class where you go through over 1000 rounds a day that kit would more than pay for its self. It wouldn't simulate the recoil, but same point and shoot on a familiar platform.
Break in takes about 500 rounds, for the most part the Para GI Expert won't give you any problems, yes it's a new weapon, so you can expect a little fussyness over different kinds of ammo, and yes i highly reccomend it.
Blazer seems to work pretty good, don't use Independant, it likes to stovepipe (rounds are a little longer than most) on the flipside Federal Hydra Shoks work perfectly ;P
