My ex-husband worked with Cagney, Jr. in Newport, RI in 1980. I was surprised to hear that he passed away at age 44 a few years before James Cagney did. I did not know that they had been estranged. You might be surprised to know that his adoptive son was a welder for Newport Shipyard.

I loved this man. No other actors can compare to the likes of Cagney and Bogie, hell count in more than that.

Back then, they made real movies, it wasn't all special effects, and you had to play so many different roles. You couldn't pull an Arnold Schwarzenegger and play the same dumbass role in every movie without becoming a flop back then.

Hey, James Cagney said that he never did say "You dirty rat." But I see here in the first scene of this compilation that he DID say it!....Okay, so actually he says "You dirty yellow bellied rat", but does that really disqualify it?

@yowzephyr yup. its the joke that everyone thought his thing was specifically saying "You dirty rat" (the comedians did it in their impressions) but he never actually said it despite his talent for name calling :P

Hey, years ago I used to record sound bytes from Cagney films, and there is one film that I cannot think of the name of but it involved him saying things like: "Book talk, that's a lot of muhaha", "Me, I don't like globes...", and some scene where he shoots a coin??? If anyone knows you should, after recording loads of clips. Any ideas would be welcome. Thanks

Is 3:36-28 a blooper that went to the final cut of the film? He slams the door on someone and the blinds fall; he looks DIRECTLY at the camera with a "OOPS!" look and chuckles off.

Haha! It PRETTY bad, I'm warning you right now. I've been sorta leaning towards the idea of finally putting it up here though. Just to throw all high respect for poor Cagney out the window, lol. But actually, I'm in the process of making a second perverted Cagney moments vid, (don't ask me why), and I may want to re-edit parts of the FIRST one into part 2, so once I do all that, I'll think about sticking them on YouTube.
