Juka and Tohru left the band and I think Seth sounds better then Juka did. I like Malice Mizer they were the first band I had ever heard and I don't think it's right for people to judge other people if they have never seen them before or now what they are like. Moi Dix Mois don't even sound a bit like symphonic metal. For some songs, the scales and chords did reference to classical music a bit, but that doesn't make them symphonic metal

I like the general sound of this cover, but the instrumentals seem a bit messy... And I think it would sound better if Asagi sang more aggressively to match the heavier instrumentals, as opposed to the original which is more melodic. Nonetheless this is a pretty good cover.

@shaw1 I don't see what you're trying to say actually. Gackt and Asagi are comparable vocally, and I'd say Asagi is actually more skilled. This song's PV was based off of Castlevania, and Recently there was harmony of despair which the BGM was heavy rock versions of the Songs through various Castlevania games, as the original always reminded me of Castlevania, this version reminds me of Harmony of Despair

@Majiwaru if you're aiming for making diverse and interesting music (which EVERY musician should) you have to have some skill for it to turn out good. your inability to play holds you back and all you can do is repeat the same stuff over and over, so yes, some skill is required to make music, in the long run.
Look at my channel, i've covered Merciless cult and Kodou by Dir en grey, i learned them the first 3 months i played guitar and are VERY easy and yet superb songs.
@Twiggyay I respect that tastes are different, but if you’re so much of a music connoisseur as you claim to be I’m surprised that you don’t see the similarities between Malice Mizer and Versailles. I love Versailles, but a lot of what they do is inspired by other people’s ideas, especially MM and Anne Rice. For example, the intro to Princess sounds like a sample from Bara no seidou and some of their costumes are almost direct copies of MM costumes. You can also hear good bit of Lareine in V.
@Twiggyay Since you put so much emphasis on skill I’m surprised that you think Dis Infernal is MdM’s best album because in terms of skill and execution it is the most basic. As for the arrogant image Mana has outside Japan, this is half based on how Gackt leaving MM was interpreted by fans who live at the other end of the world and don’t read Japanese. And half based on the fact that he is shy and has chosen a weird ass way of deflecting questions, i.e. not speaking in public.
@Twiggyay The way I see it, they created a signature sound with DI and then created variations of that sound with the CDs that followed. Very much like Versailles, actually. With both bands you pretty much know what you will get with every new release. Comforting for fans, irksome for haters. I like both bands, so I'm fine with it. D are much more unpredictable style-wise. I may not like everything they release, but I like most and for the rest I admire their courage and sense of adventure.

I love how they took the Classic-French / Pop tune, and turned it into Melodic Metal. ASAGI even manages to keep almost 100% of the melody's integrity! I am VERY impressed... not to mention dying of fangasm. XD

I think the way in which this cover is done, it loses the romance of the original but fair play to them for giving it a shot. I honestly would not of taken on a MALICE MIZER song if I was to cover a 90's v-rock song! Its like trying to fix something that isn't broken to me! ^^;

Asagi's vocals are slightly better than the original, since he's always had a better range than Gackt. The music is just a mess. Totally destroyed the classic MM sound.
I think this is an amazing cover, I fell in love with it when I first listened to it. And I'm not saying that just because I'm a D fan. I don't know why people are complaining that it doesn't sound similar to MM's original. It's not supposed to, they're both different bands that have different style in their music. So these two versions are unique and amazing in their own way.

@Twiggyay I kind of dislike comments like these, because I do think those bands cannot be compared. They are different from style and stuff. Yea. That's just what I wanted to say.
I do prefer D over Mizer, but I would not say who is better. I do prefer Asagi's vocal skills over Gackt's, since we're commenting to a song of the Gackt Era being covered.

I think Malice is overdoing the whole thing, it's too much visual compared to the music quality, (in my opinion).
And i just hate Mana, he's an arrogant douche who can't play guitar even though he's been doing it for 20 or so years.

Hmm. I thought it was quite even for Mizer, in my opinion.
I always saw Gackt as the arrogant type though, which is why I preferred Klaha's era. Since Gackt got kicked because of his arrogance. xD;
After all, Mana never had guitar lessons, so you might be right. I take that you dislike Moi Dix Mois then too?

@SchoolMiri Moi Dix Mois had one good album, then they repeated the same stuff over and over, and they kicked Juka, what the hell.
The Metalcore-ish riffs all revolve around semi notes and is generally VERY easy and simple.
Dix infernal was okay, then it went downhill for me, i thought maybe the new album would be more creative but it's just the same rearanged songs.

Was Juka really kicked? I thought he left. Yea, I don't know much about Moi Dix Mois actually.
I guess Mana is just a simple man. XD He keeps his mind on other stuff way more than music. I do think his clothes are beautiful, but sooo expensive. :/
Ah well. I just stick with my favourite two bands anyway. XD D and Versailles.

@Twiggyay Hate Malice Mizer... like Versailles, I'm sorry but Versailles openly admit to being inspired by Malice Mizer, Kamijo was a roadie for Malice Mizer, Mana funded Lareine and HGP. Learn the roots of your music... anyway what do you know about Malice Mizer, if you understood the cultural significance they had in Japan, you would shut your mouth on this matter, I know thousand of girls who would shut it for you. Also your personal dislike of Mana should not affect how you feel about MM.

@blingadingading I've backed up my dislike for MM. and i know Kamijo was a roadie for them. the visual side of Versailles may be inspired a tiny bit by MM but musically they're just worlds apart.
I know Malice had a really big impact on not just the VK in Japan, but i don't really care about that.
Why should i follow the herd blindly because a bunch of people says it is genious, i'm not like that.

@blingadingading And also, Mana apparantly funded Lareine and HGP (he could've dropped Lareine, just awful as Malice mizer). That doesn't make a difference, giving money to a project doesn't make the music.

@Majiwaru if you're aiming for making diverse and interesting music (which EVERY musician should) you have to have some skill for it to turn out good. your inability to play holds you back and all you can do is repeat the same stuff over and over, so yes, some skill is required to make music, in the long run.
Look at my channel, i've covered Merciless cult and Kodou by Dir en grey, i learned them the first 3 months i played guitar and are VERY easy and yet superb songs.

Mana should be a difficult person to live together or work.
Juka was not the first to abandon their projects, and neither was the last haha
at least, the career of both is still very good,
I still think that good music do not need to come from the complexity.
Mana has simplified her music since Malice Mizer and I confess that admire him now for what it was.
Also, I like to hear the opinion of persons with similar tastes

@Twiggyay I respect that tastes are different, but if you’re so much of a music connoisseur as you claim to be I’m surprised that you don’t see the similarities between Malice Mizer and Versailles. I love Versailles, but a lot of what they do is inspired by other people’s ideas, especially MM and Anne Rice. For example, the intro to Princess sounds like a sample from Bara no seidou and some of their costumes are almost direct copies of MM costumes. You can also hear good bit of Lareine in V.

@Twiggyay Since you put so much emphasis on skill I’m surprised that you think Dis Infernal is MdM’s best album because in terms of skill and execution it is the most basic. As for the arrogant image Mana has outside Japan, this is half based on how Gackt leaving MM was interpreted by fans who live at the other end of the world and don’t read Japanese. And half based on the fact that he is shy and has chosen a weird ass way of deflecting questions, i.e. not speaking in public.

@Twiggyay The way I see it, they created a signature sound with DI and then created variations of that sound with the CDs that followed. Very much like Versailles, actually. With both bands you pretty much know what you will get with every new release. Comforting for fans, irksome for haters. I like both bands, so I'm fine with it. D are much more unpredictable style-wise. I may not like everything they release, but I like most and for the rest I admire their courage and sense of adventure.

in my opinion the original one is still the best, but this cover is not bad. it was hard to imagine a metal version of malice mizer's song, but now that i know what it sounds like... it's not bad.

My favorite band (of present day), D, did a cover of a song from MALICE MIZER (My very first favorite)!
I love how they took the Classic-French / Pop tune, and turned it into Melodic Metal. ASAGI even manages to keep almost 100% of the melody's integrity! I am VERY impressed... not to mention dying of fangasm. XD
I wonder what Mana-sama and Kozi are thinking about D's work? They at least had to give D the O.K to do this. <3

世界観に合った音じゃない。まったくの別物ですね。
カバーするのなら原型というかクラシカルな部分をもう少し残してほしかった。
ハードロックにアレンジするならこれ以外の曲でもよかったんじゃないか…

I think the way in which this cover is done, it loses the romance of the original but fair play to them for giving it a shot. I honestly would not of taken on a MALICE MIZER song if I was to cover a 90's v-rock song! Its like trying to fix something that isn't broken to me! ^^;

今は、交流があるのでしょう。衣装がどこか似ていたりするし。
サウンドは、しっかりハードロックアレンジしてるとおもいます。
HIROKIクンのドラム、重くていいです。
骨太な月下の夜想曲。幻想的ではなく、激しいですね。
独特なASAGIクンの癖はあるし生きてるけど、不思議なのは、Gacktの声と何処となく似てる。
Mana様の作る曲は、男性の美しい低音域や、中音域など、計算の上で作られるから、似るのでしょうか?
Moi dix Mois Ⅱ期が一番好きなのですが、低音は、Sethも少し似るところがあるなあと。
曲選び、仕上がりは、私としては満足です。素敵。

Asagi's vocals are slightly better than the original, since he's always had a better range than Gackt. The music is just a mess. Totally destroyed the classic MM sound.

I think this is an amazing cover, I fell in love with it when I first listened to it. And I'm not saying that just because I'm a D fan. I don't know why people are complaining that it doesn't sound similar to MM's original. It's not supposed to, they're both different bands that have different style in their music. So these two versions are unique and amazing in their own way.

they took the original meaning out of it, i think. the original was like...adventurous and cute and whimsical. like, well, dolls. 'cause that's what it was about.
d's version is good, but i think they killed the meaning. i love asagi's voice and their guitarness, they heavy things really did them justice. but geez.
