What an embarrassment. Sounds like a paper written by a high school freshman. The delivery is so patronizing I can't tell if there's anything of actual value here. Hire professionals next time.
Marketing, marketing, marketing. You really can't take this video seriously, showing with rendered animations how the thing is performing. When it got to the point of showing half the laptop's resources were used for displaying pics I just had to stop it.
Forgive me if I'm wrong, and don't take this as me saying that this chip isn't impressive (it is), but isn't this really just a CPU with a scalable architecture?
the zii in essence is a audio chip a video card and a normal processor all in one chip. so it it is doing a video, it will put all the power into the video, instead of in puting the power into being a normal processor, but than if you swich to a processor intensive thing it will put the power it put into video processing to being a normal cpu.
I do believe that this is a very interesting chip. It is really powerful for mobile applications, but we wont see a ZII PC for sale anytime soon. But this movie is obviously from a marketing company, intended for the public to create a hype. Words as 'quantum leap', 'hypercomputing', etc. etc. Are marketing words and should be considered at such.
Kudos for the marketing company for explaining this programmable multi processor chip as being 'stemcell computing'. Nice find.
The comparisons where proabably against something 5 years ago... Like his 1.7Ghz Unit i still have verses something filled with everything a pc today can handle... 3.6Ghz and extra's.
thats not a 5 year old processor dude, its completely actual. I work at this things and processors today are like that one, let me say that this zii procesor is awesome. And i believe the game was just a demo of the 3D technology, its not showing the real potential...
Oh come now, Some one with a 2.5Ghz Cpu (cheap in todays market) Isn't going to experiance any noticable problems untill they reach HD (and It has to be a rediculous Resolution at that) and High end gaming. Moreover they're forgetting other factors that will effect performance like amounr of RAM available and Graphical memory.
Although a morphing CPU does sound like a good idea, I don't think i'll support it untill they do some realistic comparison, but thats marketing for you.
It's peculiar that they used H-L1... A game I FREQUENTLY play on my older 1.7Ghz computer... But if they done a different comparison blowing the actual difference out of proportion, Like the HD vision... I've tried watching YT videos in HD and such.. its not that bad. I can play games such as H-L2 and variants, even Garrys mod with minor problems. It's still disgustingly OTT on how poorly an older system MAY perform and how one WILL perform.
This chip is an ARM based chip - ie its a development of the chips used in mobile phones. It's not designed to compete with high end chips found in PCs - you couldn't use a 3 year old Intel processor in a mobile phone even though it would be just as powerful. Also the price has to be much cheaper with very low energy use.
"if you want to use Zii to calculate the decay rate of your nuclear arsenal you'll have to look elsewhere" - ie it's not a super computer 'in nano size' - it's not even nano size and it has nothing to do with stem cells . this is like the marketing you get from Scientology.
You're missing the point. Stemcells are cells that turn into different organs when the embryo develops. Zii "morphs" into a "different shape" depending on what it's programmed to be used for, it's like a CPU, graphics card, audio card, network card etc. in one chip. That's where they draw the stemcell comparison from. If you weren't retarded you would've understood that.
How can you make that assumption? The components inside are probably nano sized. And where are stem cells mentioned in that statement? Yes it may be marketing hype, but base your logic in fact.
I don't doubt they have a functioning and useful chip, but any company that uses word like stemcell, nano, ii, supercomputer etc is trying to obfuscate and trick the uneducated viewer. A company like intel would never do that as their products speak for themselves.
How is nano a marketing term? It's made up of small parts. Yes it's a cool word and Intel probably brought it in to public use. The other terms are clearly explained in the video.
The chip is the ZMS-05. The Creative Zii is the consumer version of the Zii Egg. The Zii Egg is intended for rebranding.
It's ok though, I can't keep up either ;-)

This sounds similar to the IBM Cell Processor used by the Playstation 3

Essentially, on the most basic form, Yes. It also, as he said, It's much smaller.

Only if they come up with a zii remote

wow 1 chip = 10 G flops
my qx6700 oc 3.2 is only 22 G flops
that thing dosnt even give off any heat !!!!
when i have the cash ill get 16 blades for F@h
they said it was cheap soo lets hope i can get it

can it run math
prime F@M etc
because he said it cant calculate the rate of decay
so can it run math ?

Is that a Text-to-Speech engine they used for that guys voice? Most obviously evident in the pronunciation of the word "chasis"
