They're the origonal songs by Trent Reznor and NIN, remixed by other people like Olof Dreijer and Saul Williams. Saul Williams puts some of his own lyrics into it because he works closely with NIN on many of their songs.

the linkin park remix album was called Reanimation. the jay z and linkin park album was a combinaiton of their songs, not remixes of LP songs, as they had jay z beats and lyrics in about half.

I still haven't heard the whole remix album, but what I've heard so far is great! Although I personally liked the original Survivalism a bit better, this one's a bit too rap-ish for my tastes, but it's not bad! Can't wait to hear the rest of the cd...

Honestly, I like the sound of rap (which is more-or-less techno, for the most part). It's the idiotic lyrics and subject matter of most rap that turns me off. I'm not saying this is better than the original Survivalism, it's like comparing apples and oranges. I do think this one shines, though.
