@foolclip its the owner that trained the dog dipshit no breeds are dangerous its all about the person that trained them my neighbour has a pitbull who regularly plays with my 3 year old step brother. The dog that attacked you was obviously trained poorly or abused
This comment has received too many negative votesshow
I'd never let kids play with big dogs like this.. every year almost 3-5 kids are mauled to death by the rottweilers.. My neighbours kid 3 yrs old got mauled last week.. her fingers and left limbs have been chewed.. Horrifying.. ...
Dog looked freindly to me at first.. ..they are animals and cannot be trusted with todlers..
@techjack76 i had a rottie when i was a baby up until he passed away of old age and he was the sweetest ever&he was huge at almost 135 lbs and huge skull he was the gentlest thing ever.I now have a rottie pitbull mix and she was around my brother when he was just a baby too its all how they are raised and trained not the breed. only idiots abuse/neglect them or teach them to fight because then bad things happen no not all big dogs are bad&i have had 4huge dogs all around me&my siblings as babies
this is why i want a Rottweiler people seem to misunderstand them, they can be gentle and at the same time they could protect you if that moment were to come up and then you would be glad you had a Rottweiler. Same thing goes for my moms German Shepard "Duke", he gets chased around by my moms Pug but if he wanted to be serious i am more than confident that he would be a hell of a guard dog
Rottweilers are awsome, i am 14 and mine has never bit anyone. Why do people assume all rotties are dangerous. They are only dangerous if you train them like that. But no one does they are a great breed and so soft. People misunderstand them, they only bark or growl when they think their owners are in danger. They are loyal and their1st prioroty is their owner and will always defend them. AND NO NOT BY BEING VIOLENT. R.I.P. Gibson
Its amazing how gentle he is with the baby. You did great training him, you should be proud of urself. The world needs more people like you training their dogs properly!! Way to go!!
hello DuhhDogsrule14. I dont think the owners trained this dog to be nice. These dogs are wonderful and for some reason know how to act in certain situations. It's kind of baffeling actually. i have two, brother and sister, and they are extremely gentle with kids. I never trained them or anything. of course I was cautious at first but now i know for sure i can trust them around the little ones including babies =+)
Absolutely true. They were bred for centuries to be herd protectors. They are not aggressive in comparison the the majority of breeds out there. In conjunction with their breeding, it's a matter of them being large enough to not feel threatened by much of anything.
It's too bad some municipalities (and the British) are willing to consider banning these dogs without consulting centuries worth of breed character information. They're just pandering to a loud minority i guess.
Why? Im only suggesting what an animal expert would say - if you have ever seen any animal documentaries? Animals work in hierarchies... plus i would hate to hear of any baby being torn apart, and there have PLENTY here in the UK. But its not my kid so i'm sorry for not saying how proud you all should be of yourselves. Great responsible behaviour of course indeed.
That true what you said.. Dogs do get jealous of babies.. That why the parents have to be around them to keep a watchful eyes on them but other than that the rott are the greatest and have so much love for you in the family.. :)
I have subtly (not nastily) suggested the notion of being careful with dogs... any animal looks for weaknesses in other animals (even humans do it). That is not my fault, its just a fact of many animals (especially pack animals e.g. dogs), and because of that fact, many people have been bitten and kids killed because of human complacency. But carry on at your own leisure... and hopefully wash your hands before you eat your dinner
True, you should be careful with dogs. And never let the dog near a baby if you dont trust the dog 100%. But in this video it seems like the dog is treating Kaleb with respect and the dog acts more like a follower than a packleader. I personally think its good for a child to grow up with an animal in the family. :)
that rott knows the baby is fragile, its knows its a young member of the pack that needs to be cared for. it does not see the baby as a theat. plus, a dog with a proper leader will not struggle with the other pack members for dominance because that leadership role has already been filled. there are two roles with dogs, leader and follower, the followers dont fight the other followers to be higher on the list of followers. they fight the leader to be the leader. healthy dogs that is. like this 1
@jrowe6 That is exactly why people fail with large, agressive breeds. They don't have a strong enough personality to handle them. I love Mastiffs, and a Mastiff is much like a Rottweiler in that they will always want to assume control of the pack. Being a strong personality, my Mastiffs will defer to me. I once rescued a Mastiff that was labelled "not good with kids or other animals". Three weeks and he was fine with my two cats and 4-month-old puppy.
@theAlphaDeranged Actually, the thing of it is--small dogs are usually harder to put in line. It's ironic, I know, but smaller dogs tend to compensate for their size with overly aggressive behavior. I love my Mastiff and I could take food from his bowl without him guarding within a few days of training. My Chihuahua though? Took months of work to not to growl and show deference.
You just usually don't hear about small dogs because their attacks aren't very dangerous, even if they are aggressive
@rjboni People dont always realize how their behavior changes with little dogs. Even subtle body language differences will affect your dogs. We don't protect bigger dogs like we do little dogs. Because little dogs can be hurt easier than a large one. Monitor your behaviors between your big vs little dogs, you'll see it. If you think it's not there, look harder. It is. You'll naturally want to protect your little dog, which will change how it reacts to training.
@jrowe6 umm i disagree with that my mom is the leader of the pack an we have german shepereds. my male dog likes to fight my other male cat to be dominate so yes a dog will fight another follower of the pack to move higher in the rank. but luckly my mom wont let him since my male cat was the first pet here.
lool the baby is like crawling in a army outfit just like if he was in the army :) really cute and well trained dog. i'm getting one for my best friend :D
I got a rottie too, Zeus, he is the same way, cautious but playful. Great video, we need more like this to show how rotties really are with the proper care and attention.
You can tell Diesel is cautious with the baby, backs up and shows no excitement, which is good around children, very gentle personality. He waits for the baby to throw the ball and drops it back for the baby to pick it up. Nice video.
I like Diesel, he's so sensitive and considerate. It seems like the male Rotties are more sensitive than the female. My sister had two female Rotties and when they played they would land right on top of the children and just lay on top of them like "what I do?" Where as the male Rottie that her boyfriend had was HUGE and very strong with a powerful jaw but he was very careful with children and puppies. Deisel is a very fine specimen.
really smart. he rolls the ball with his leg then he took it with his mouth. i want to get a dog too. i'm thinking of a dobermann or rottweiler. excuse my english.
the rotty is a new bread rottweiler they have longer faces the old breed have shorter faces and shirter legs as this one here has longer legs and a longer face
This is Hilarious!! The personality on the dog reminds me SOOOO much of my rott with my 8 month old! Once she brings the ball she will continue to back away from it cause she wants me to "throw it throw it, I don't want to just take it, throw it!" lol Are they great with kids? My girls LOVES my little boy to pieces!
No thats not being kind, that is a great train dog. He knows the babies space and has been trained to respect it. Awesome job by the owners, thanks for saharing..
he's not "afraid" of the baby nor of hurting it, but through a daily conditioning in respect and thanx with his owners, he understands that he must give the baby his space.
thats not strange thats the dog wanting the ball thrown and not wanting to step on or hurt the baby its giving the kid space and waiting for him to get the ball i dont like rotti's but great job on training him!
I am amazed at what a great exercise this is for your baby boy. He is doing such a good job of crawling to that ball, throwing it for the dog. It is obviously very motivating to include your darling rotty because the baby is really going after that ball to throw for the dog. You are a very good Momma to think of such a good "game" for your baby!
