  • @84joycey

09 and later are 265BHP with a Cobb Stage 1 its only 7HP less than an STI.

  • who gives a fuck about km

  • @84joycey it's also 230lbs heavier. Put two 200lbs adults in an sti and watch it do 0-60 in about 6.5 seconds.

wrx is the best bang for the buck. 40k sti? you're crazy, get a g37awd sedan for that money.

  • @Digitalfiendscom

just a word of advice for future reference

its not good to open up your car like that when its under 3,000 miles

then you will have seals go bad and bearings spin off.

just saying what do i know im not ase certified or nothing

  • @chrisios Both cars had well over 10,000km at the time of this video. You're just seeing the trip A counter. Either way, all my STIs have been broken in semi-aggressively from 500km and I've never had any problems engine wise.

  • @chrisios The break in procedure is 1,000 miles. Lots of owners "open" up their cars after the break in procedure and an oil change to get rid of all of the filings from the break in and have no issues.

  • @chrisios If you read teh meter, it says he is on trip A, which means that's not his actual mileage. Just saying.. What do I know, I don't have common sense or anything.

  • @wrightdesigns1 you must be missing common sense considering i had already discussed that with the owner of this vehicle, you can read right? i had watched this on a cell phone which is why i didnt see it. but since you want to come in here with attitude acting like a who F@ggot. lets all stop what were doing and pay attention to this kid

  • @84joycey no no sti is like a sports term for thier cars, they have sti foresters too, the new two door is just subaru and toyotas bond in one car which to toyota is called ft-86, subaru is just trying to kinda bring back thier two door models, like the svx and previous cars... i think its a terrible idea for them cuz they subaru isnt planning on putting money into the project so itll only be rear wheel drive. ruining the tradition of a post 85 subaru AWD.

  • New sedan looks impresive, but I love me the 04-07 body style....08 looks good, but they fucked up with the tail lights....nice cars man!!!

  • @84joycey You must be american.. because in japan. The wrx and sti are very simillar cars. Basically the only difference is power options, intercoolers, and gearboxes.

  • I have a chipped mk6 gti and I kinda have that same thing with the accel. I was told it was the computer managing boost levels to a safer level.

  • @84joycey This is not a standard 230 bhp 08 WRX or WRX-s, this is the north american 09 WRX with 265 bhp standard, probably the same sort of accelleration you get in a WRX PPP, and thats quick.

  • @XXdriver2000XX you are right! in north america WRX are faster 0-60 than the STI...and the only thing that is better in the STI is the tranny(undestructible) + the Diff settings..so..you can hardly justified 10K more for an STI..anyway,,i'm pretty sure some smart mouth will flame me for what I just said but things are as they are(Oh and before anyone start any stupid conversation...my friend have an 09 STI and I have an 10' WRX and we have raced together and that's the result that we had...

  • and...we do have racing liscence(Jim Russel)(before anyone cry that we dont know how to drive/shift/launch

  • My 2 cents. : Yes, the sti's have all the goodies but since the 09 wrx's came out it's hard to spend the extra 10k (new) on a new STi, especially when the WRX's are easily modified/bang for your buck quality parts...

  • Sedan is back for 2011

  • @stevemaclaren40 I can't say I really like how it looks but the the '11 WRX also gets the widebody from the STI, which is awesome. Someone on NASIOC is running low 12s @ 111 mph with a stage 2 '10 WRX. That's nuts.

  • @Digitalfiendscom Someone is running high 12's in a stock 2010 wrx

  • @moredotsmore Doesn't surprise me one bit. :)

  • i love subaru's impreza's wrx sti but i want one in a 4 door no hatchback does any body know if subaru is bringing the sti back in 4door cars for 2010 2011 or 2012 please commet if u have any infomation on this

  • i love both cars, i own a 2010 wrx i was gonna go for the sti, but i read on car and driver that the wrx is faster to 60 than the sti so i decided to keep the extra 10000 !

  • With a great launch the WRX can easily match the STI. Honestly though, I have no issues launching my STI but I'm way too hesitant to abuse my wife's car the same way. The gearbox just doesn't feel as stout.

Regardless, the WRX is insane for the price and the power-mod path is virtually the same as the STI. You can have a very quick, capable car for not much money.

  • You only have to shift 1st to 2nd to get to 60 in the wrx, you have to get to 3rd (at 57mph) to get to 60. in the STI. What about a 0-130?

  • @olgaa30 yeah that's because the sti has an extra shift during a 0-60 run, because of the close-ratio 6 speed. the real difference between the wrx and sti is the drivetrain, brakes, and suspension. the 6-speed and the limited-slip differs that the sti has really set it apart once you get into the twisties... but yeah if you're really only concerned about straight-line performance there isn't much difference.

  • dang i wish you could do a side by side roll race between the 09 wrx and sti.. that would really be a true comparison

  • I doubt my wife would go for that. :)

  • not that bad

  • are you saying that the gear changes/pauses in the Sti evened out the playing field between a stock 09 WRX and a stage 2 Sti?

  • Not completely, obviously, per-gear my STI is faster due to power and gearing but the extra shifting, plus that slight "stall" (no better way to describe it) seems to sap a few tenths here or there.

The other problem is that Cobb's Stage 2 91 map isn't a lot stronger than stock up top. My new map, tuned for 93/94, and based on a combination of my Protune and Cobb's Stage 2 93 v1.02 map is a lot smoother and faster. I just haven't had time to put up a video.

  • I am curious why didn't you stick to AMR Stages? they seem best...

  • Unfortunately, I had a bad experience with my AMR downpipe/intermediate pipe. The first unit they shipped me had the cat up near the bellmouth and hit the firewall - no clearance. The replacement unit hit the tranny crossmember, which I had to have reformed for clearance. Then I discovered a pinhole leak in the DP-bellmouth connection. The metal that the DP was made from was poor quality and the final straw was the intermediate pipe hitting the driveshaft knuckle. AMR never fixed the issue.

  • (continued)

Still, everytime I drive my wife's 09 WRX, I keep thinking to myself, man this car is quick for 265hp. Off the line though there is no competition with STI, as the shorter gearing and much greater torque makes a huge difference.

Subaru did a fantastic job with the 09 WRX. There are quite a few people running mid-13s @ 101+ with 09 WRXs; heck one guy ran a 12.9 @ 104, stock.

I'd still never give up my STI though, as it is so much more than just power. :)

  • i agree. can't compare the two in overall performance. i own an MY09 Rex. just put some front and rear sway bars in. the feel through corners and on unveven surfaces is unbelievable. feels like a completely different car. cheap mods too. highly recommended to your wife if she finds the car too unsettled and bouncing around too much.
