  • A classic scene

  • @CassiePaff It was.

  • Hopefully that isn't concrete flooring!! Lol.

  • Everybody looks at me so weird when I tell them about how I love these musicals and this time period (I'm only 15) and I'm like "what the hell are you talking about! THIS IS ENTERTAINMENT AND MUSIC!" Donald O'Conner, Gene Kelly all of them. What has gone wrong in todays world?

  • Amazing!! :D

  • There is not an actor alive that can match/beat what Donald O'Connor did on this scene.

  • Love it! Can't get enough of it.

  • BUSTER KEATON!!!

  • was cocaine legal back then? cause seriously he musta been on it for all that energy! :O

  • this. cracks. me. up. now this is comedy. (coming from an 18 year old.. i was so born in the wrong time)

  • I love this video

  • I'm watching singing in the rain in my class for the first time and I was completely blown away by this scene. I just had to look it up as soon as possible.

  • I wish that was my job

  • 100 years since the birth of this extraordinarily talented man Gene Kelly.

  • WOW!! Donald o Connor is AMAZING in this!!!!

  • Awesome ROFL COPTER at 3:19.

  • he was in the hospital for a week after he did this scene , he was smoking a box of cigarets a day when they where filming this movie. it must hurt to throw yourself down like that on concrete (theres concrete under that carpet)

  • @IsabelleOldies Donald was not in the hospital...he just needed a few days rest...as he said in an interview, the floor was concrete and his body just had to absorb this tremendous shock. He did have to redo it because the film was fogged...he said it was better the 2nd time....Donald is the BEST!!

  • Our school is doing the play of this. Tryin out for cosmo. dang i want this part! So Hilarious! And I even play the piano and im a spaz! ha!

  • There is no scene even now that can compare to this genius piece of art that Gene Kelly and Donald O'Connor came up with! In a word: Hilarious!

  • @superstarkirblondie This was all Donald....he came up with it all...as Kelly said this number was all Donald - brilliant!!!!!!! Such an incredible talent and such an ADORABLE man - he won the Golden Globe for this!!!!

  • this movie is still my favorite!good morning good morning!

  • בני זונות כוס אמא שלכם

  • Crack cocaine in the 50's

  • Red Bull. It gives you wings!!

  • I love glee but they raped this song

  • I love this!!!! it is the best

  • 102 people don't know how to laugh....

  • DONALD O'CONNOR GREAT!!!

  • One of the most amazing parts in a move, ever!!!! 2:00

  • Which the real name of the movie?.

  • @Skarlis Muchas Gracias

  • @TheGuilhermeHF Singing in the rain

  • 2:46 at 3:30 Breakdance õ/ xD

  • 102 people prefer digital to dolby

  • luv it

  • Someone should do this for X Factor/Britain's Got Talent! Would be a GREAT performance. Obviously not up to Donald's standard though!

  • I Just watched this in theater today, I LOVE IT! Cosmo's hot... just sayin

  • 101 people can't laugh

  • 101 people have no sense of humour...

  • This was filmed in one take!

  • @Thydudedruid non a 1.15 sa chemise sort d'un coté seulement...plan suivant elle sort completement...ce qui n'enleve rien,bien sur, a la performance...d'ailleurs le film entier est une performance :o)

  • @Thydudedruid not true

  • @Thydudedruid amazing take!

  • @Thydudedruid It actually almost killed Donald O'Connor. He smoked 4 packs a day, and he was so exhausted after doing this, he had to go to the hospital. Even worse, the original take was ruined by an accident, so he had to do it all over again after getting out. A true professional, they don't make them like that anymore.

  • @Thydudedruid The camera cuts 11 times; it's probably not one take.

  • @WormsParty There could be 9 cameras and 33 cuts and still be "one take".

  • @Thydudedruid thats all it takes

  • @Thydudedruid There's a cut at 1:14 1:28 1:45 1:59 2:21 2:37 3:13 3:29 etc... Does this make it any less impressive? No.

  • @Thydudedruid Donald O'Connor had to take a week's bedrest during the filming of this scene because of the somersault.

  • I read that he bad 3 days bed rest after this sequence. I don't blame him! This is one of my favorite songs from my favorite movie!!!

  • Why don't they do this anymore? :(

  • @Uhhhh58 have faith

  • now..this is what I call talent.

  • This makes all those urban dance movies today look like retards dry humping.

  • God used a special kind of playdo when he made this man...

  • Pretty hard to outshine Gene Kelly ... Donald O'Connor was a luminary talent!

  • how does he summon all that energy to do that????

  • It's just so brilliant. Who knows how many takes it required, how much editing and trick photography, but it's such an amazing sequence, who cares?

  • @bailinnumberguy I think it was one take because he smoked A LOT and he could have only done it once because of the amount of energy this took.

  • @bailinnumberguy it was actually all in one take! no trick photography. no editing. and certainly no stunt double! ;D you know that crash in the end? he was actually surprised and DIDN"T KNOW that it wasn't a wall! so he went and finished the scene really quick. but the editor and the director thought that that was so much better (and more hilarious!), they decided to keep it! ^v^ just thought you might want to know a fun little fact about the movie. :)

  • WIN!

  • That's commitment! Imagine the bruises after all that...

    Amazing talent!

  • 100 people cant laff!

  • this just makes you look at modern hollywood and wonder where all the talent went

  • rofl xD

  • This guy invented breakdancing!

  • Wonderful! :-)

  • How did that guy NOT get brain damage?

  • version glee bad original vercion good

  • Donald O' Connor had a fever of over 100F while filming this. Legend has it that he slept for 3 days straight after filming... what a man...

  • @GleaMichelphaba actually, he was a heavy smoker and after doing this, he needed a 3 day break. then the studio lost the tape somehow and he had to do it again! poor Donald :( but no, he didn't have a fever.

  • my teacher showed us this

  • Oh, and 100 people couldn't laugh

  • This song is called "Make Them Laugh". Yes, I am watching the movie in my chorus class, and I love it! :D

  • 3:30 Parkour! And breakdancing, and tap dancing, plus slapstick. This man had some mad skills.

  • Bester Film aller Zeiten...

  • Justin Timberlake, eat your heart out!

  • @hoz49 WHO...the fuck...is justin...timberlake

  • Classic!

  • 101 people can't laugh

  • 3:19 - 3:25 roflcoptering at its finest.

  • Hilarious Video I Thumbs Up Glee And Make em Laugh Song Are Good

  • okay... drugs are bad, i get it!

  • make um laugh.

    yes he makes me laugh

  • He's just about the only person i would be okay with walking across a piano....

    Love this song!!!!

  • great alan not seen this film in years, definately suits our weather all the rain xx

  • This makes my day!

  • What type of hat is Donald wearing?

  • best part of the whole movie

  • complete genius.

  • A girl at a regionals did this song and routine, and she did it in heels. D: But she didn't do the backflips, so Donald O'Connor is still the best. ;D

  • Haha, when I first watched this movie as a kid I wanted Donald's character to be with Debbie Reynold's x3 He's too adorable :D

  • @thelucidconspiracist You are so right!! Loads of us think he went much better with Debbie than Gene did - she also looks more at Donald - watch them on the sofa in the Good Morning number. He WAS the most ADORABLE man, as actresses said who worked with him - several said they fell in love with him whenever they worked with him - they said they couldn't help it - he was so wonderful - see my channel, and friends' channels, for great pictures, videos, clips , montages, and tributes - DONALD!

  • Comment removed

  • We are fat aren't we?

  • Holy shit, he's energetic as hell o___o He makes running up walls and doing backflips so easy, I wish I could do that stuff :[ I wonder if I could if I wasn't distracted by the internet haha.

  • there is only one word to describe Donald O'Connor in this clip from "Singin' In The Rain...........ANTI-GRAVITATIONAL !!!

  • Awesome! = ) That guy has energy... Love this.

  • give him a lotta credit please only Glee are getting credit for performing it to no where near this standard :L

  • .....How did he not break all his bones during this number?

  • MY FAVORITE ACTOR!

  • @ezsrocks Mine, too! No one like Donald!!!

  • people just aren't as talented anymore :(

  • @Samissoawsome so true. :(

  • Short people have long faces, and long people have short faces. Big people have little humor, and little people have no humor at all.

  • I love it!

  • Donald O'Connor is so legendary and this song... I just love this song!!! This whole movie i will watch anytime, any where. How can anyone dislike this video? I can quote the movie and sing all the songs... but this is my absolute favorite scene

  • @maddiep33 You're so right - Donald was the BEST - adorable and unbelievably talented - his other terrific movies have fabulous performances, as well...he could do this hysterically brilliant number and then dance sooooooo romantically and elegantly with Vera-Ellen in Call Me Madam and loads of others.

  • i love this song i could tell u all the movie

  • mori cuando lo pasaron en glee!!! por este tema quiero ver la pelicula!!!

  • Joseph Gordon-Levitt's version of this he did on SNL is amazing. He even does the backflips

  • Unbelievable >.> I like the glee version becuz i like will scheuster and stuff, but this is, like they say, a genuis >.>

  • Can you imagine how tired he would be after doing all that?

  • @AlienBeliever897 And he was a heavy smoker too. Apparently it took him quite a while to recover!

  • He ran 2 the walk and backfliped wtf!!!!!!!

  • best part of the movie

  • yep, awesome. i've always loved that scene - the bit at the end when he falls through the wall, that's the best.

  • A true masterpiece. I got to watch this movie in film studies.

  • It looks fun, being talented...

  • this guy is a living cartoon Character. he made me laugh

  • The only musical that actually entertain me, rather than annoy me!

  • Now this is true comedy! And tallent! Actors today can't hold a candel to this. I also think this was mans first atempt at brake dancing!

  • Don't do drugs, kids! XD

  • I'm going through a hard time right now, to cheer myself up I watched this.

I was smiling and laughing through the whole thing.

I'm a younger generation, yet I can look at this amazing man and find humor in it, even in a dark time.

    Thank you Donald O'Connor.

  • 100 people have no Talent.

  • I honestly don't understand why everyone feels the need to diss glee,.

  • When musicals were actually good
