  • I have done all these steps and i have the Tones category on the left, then i sync it (under Tones i choose to sync all tones) but it won't shown on the iPhone's ringtone list...what i need to do?

  • I got the ring ton in iTunes, now how do I get it on my phone as a ringtone?

  • i cant see show in folder what can i do

  • when i go to finder, it doesnt say 'hello by unameit'.m4a but it just says 'hello by unameit'

    what did i do wrong:(?

  • It works but the timeframe isn't correct. Its right in iTunes. its the exact part i want, but when i sync it to the phone its a different part of the song... am i doing something wrong?

  • THANK. YOU. <3

  • When I delete the song from iTunes, I don't get the choice of keeping the file. It just deletes it!

    What should I do?

  • TY TY TY TY TY TY TY TY TY this is awesome!!!

  • Doesn't seem to add the file to "tones". Just adds it to "music".

  • thnx dude

  • Thanks for uploading. Not only found it helpful but also loved the video.

  • I did all that and it worked, but the question is how do I put it in my iphone 4's ringtone? When I drag it I can't release it in the ringtone's section for iphone, it is just library's ringtones!.... Please help :) thanks

  • i can't get this to work.....

  • @Kazzerp when i go to remove the original file, it doesn't give me the option to "keep file" it just deletes it.

  • i dont have "ringtones" in my library y?

  • THERE IS A WAY AROUND ANY PROBLEMS!.......As long as you haven't upgraded past 10.4

Create the AAC version, change the length to 30 seconds, create an AAC version of the previous AAC version, this next one should be 30 seconds, drag the one that is 30 seconds onto your desktop, then delete both AAC versions in itunes. Change the name of the one on your desktop from ".m4a" to ".m4r" and drag into your itunes and abra kadabra! You have a new custom and free ringtone.

  • i don't have ringtones in my library...

  • Thanks man! This works!

  • I don't have ringtones in my library. What do i do , I'm geting mad !

  • after you add your own ringtones into itunes. click on DEVICES on itunes and click on Ringtones and check the "ringtones" that you want to sycn to your phone. wala! it will appear on your iphone too!

  • a 2nd copy doesnt apopear when i convert to aac

  • @soultrooper To everyone who can't see the "create AAC version" after right click:

    Go to Edit...Preferences...Import Settings...Import Using...AAC Encoder.

To everyone who is asking how to change the file to m4r

Find the fold the file is in. Go to Organize...Folder and Search Options...View...Uncheck the "Hide extensions for known file types". This should allow you to look at the file, right click, rename and change the file extension.

  • im using windows 7 and when i open it in windows explorer, i cant change the file from m4a to m4r because i dont have the option to do so.. when i click on 'rename', only the song title appears, not the file extention :( ??

  • i created the aac, on windows, and then i go to show in windows explorer, and i cant find out how to change it an .m4r instead of .m4a, can anyone help?

  • thnx man subscribed :)

  • i can't change from m4a to m4r..I think it's because of that fucking useless shit vista

  • what music did you use its cute :) and thanks for the vid

  • How the hell do i rename it when it to m4r when it has no options

  • same problem with me

  • If you don't get an "Create AAC" option and something like "Create MP3" you must change your convertion settings.

Edit --> Preferences --> Import Settings (on the first page) --> Select AAC encoder.

    Option should now be there.

Thumbs up so this helps others.

  • thank you :D

  • can someone tell why i dont have a ringtones icon on my itunes?

  • okay wtf.. am i the only one that doesnt have an aac option?

  • @TheHlynurskuli go in advanced on the top

  • @TheHlynurskuli do u still have this problem? if not then i found a way to get the aac option, im on the itunes 10.4 and heres how:

1.go click on edit it should start u off in general

2.scroll down and find inport settings it should prob be next to "when you insert a cd"

3.click on the import settings and something will pop up

4.in the first bar it should say ''import using" and next to it will be options

5.the selection will be in alphabetical order so aac is the first one

    6.click on it

  • Noobs.. do exactly as his video says.. Works to me!

  • moua ha ha ha ha it works!!!you are the best...thnx....

  • Make your own Ringtone now in iPhone is so difficult. Why? This is the first time that I see Apple make something simple and easy into very complicated steps. The reason I guess is to force a lot of layman to buy Ringtone online than make an easy Mp3 ringtone.

  • @moataz44 doable click on the song or the ringtones after you drag it to the ringtones folder !!

  • i don't get the ringtones tab in itunes, i tried a lot of times....

  • @courses4love my ituns doesnt have the ringtone button on the left. i have itunes 10 and a iphone 4

  • I have iTunes 10 and iphone 3GS running OS4.1 and this doesn't work. iTunes doesnt show a ringtone folder, even after renaming the file and playing it. Must be another way tho, surely :-/

  • my only problem is that i dont have the ringtones folder

  • @iamtoosexyformylife after you change the song form m4a to m4r, automatic will Creates it self

  • @courses4love I have itunes 3 and I followed the directions in the video but I still didn't get an ringtones folder. :(

  • @foxyladi23 thats probably because this is for iTunes 10...

  • @iamtoosexyformylife you can add the ringtones folder by going to your itunes folder in finder and adding a new folder 'Ringtones' and drag it to your itunes library it should appear

  • @iamtoosexyformylife go to edit preferences and then click ringtone

  • Won't work for the NEWEST update ><

    freaking apple.

  • @wolfdemon07 what do you mean i have the NEWEST update and it working with me!! do you have Mac or Win??

  • @wolfdemon07 it works, only if u have the latest quicktime update (more then 6.2) :) update and try again (convert to aac will apear version will appear)

  • @wolfdemon07 Yes it does

  • to show Ringtones Tab ... Open the iTunes > in the top u will see ( Edit ) after that choice Preferences ... tic in ringtones

  • @rsheew Are you using Windows ??!!

  • any way of knowing how to do this on windows? when you say "show in finder" i used the option "show in windows explorer" which is basicly the same thing but when i get there it doesnt allow me to change the file type. before itunes 10 i was able to change the file type. i knew there was a reason why i shouldnt have updated itunes

  • @bklynsbabyboy Ok mate, i do have windows? but i didn't update iTunes, however I'll do the update then I'll tell you what too do! :)

  • @courses4love well thats why i asked if you would know how to do it on windows. some people do some dont. but i figured out the problem. it was that in the folder options "hide all file types" was checked. so i couldnt change the file type to m4r

  • but apple removes Ringtones tab .... now what can we do ?

  • @rsheew What do you mean by Ringtones tab?? do you mean the one in iTunes i stall have it !!

  • bro i need some help i did everything you said and it dose not work i have the ring tone under ring tone in itunes i see the ring tone but then when i click sync it says its syncing and what ever but then when i go to sounds->ringtones my ringtone isint there ??

  • @boobies0makeme0smile mate i don't know exactly why!! but i can tell you this, Reboot your iPhone then give it another shot, by the way is it jailbroken??

  • @boobies0makeme0smile I had this same problem... discovered why it wasn't appearing on my phone after syncing. Have you set your itunes to sync all ringtones or selected ones? Mines was set to selected ringtones... so if you go into the ringtones tab in your iphone on itunes and check the box next to the ringtone it should add it during your next sync :)

  • @boobies0makeme0smile I had the same problem... do you have your ringtone tab set to 'selected ringtones' rather than all ringtones? That was what I had done but forgot to go into the ringtones tab on my iphone in itunes and check the box next to the new song... hope this solves your problem too! :D

  • thank man amazing video

  • Hello, almost everything worked. I put one song on, I synced it, and everything was dandy. I looked in my iPhone: Settings>Sounds>Ringtone>Custom! It was awesome. I decided to put another song on because this actually works. I went threw the whole ritual again; it worked, but my other song was gone. Is the "Custom Ringtone" limited to just one ringtone? (I followed the 30 second rule and everything)

  • @Lel0uche mate try again, because i did try the min i saw your comment and i have 5 ringtones in the Custom, give it another shot :)

  • mine doesnt say creat AAC Version. it only says create mp3 version

  • @kCR34M1N9kAz try another song :)

  • @kCR34M1N9kAz go to Edit - > Preferences -> General -> When you insert a CD: Import Settings... | and select the AAC Encoder there. The Create MP3 option should change to Create AAC Version now.

  • nice one!

  • I cant change it from .m4a because it doesnt say .m4a on the song.... dammit
