Bobby was committed to Prince, and Prince respected that greatly. The thing is, Sheila E. was one of the people in Prince's circle since the mid-80s, and also a contemporary drum phenom. Bobby openly stated that she was undoubtedly in the top 5 of greatest drummers at that time. Bobby was dismissed from the band quite amicably, and as a matter of fact, he kept on receiving a paycheck from Prince well after his involvement with the group.
@bala4fa I read a recollection that Bobby left because Wendy & Lisa were dismissed from The Revolution. Brownmark was suppose to stay but he also just left in protest. Thats what I read I think in "Possessed".
W+L in a recent vid interview somewhere said that the mystique of two females in the band as an inner creative and sensual allure sort of ran its course for Prince. Suggesting that as soon as it was sort of "over" he let them go.
@wendileona The only constant member of any band that Prince has ever produced is Prince himself, however the way my cousin (who worked for Prince for many years) explained it was that Prince changes band members to give up and coming musicians and the ones who've been around for a while a chance to shine and show off their talents, so the reason was and is an unselfish one.
@kalimaganeshshivan I think that Wendy+Lisa's song "Chance To Grow" was about that, allowing other members to grow and explore their potential. On the other hand, Prince wanted "Prince" back so to speak as W+L were almost writing and recording a lot of the music back then.
Speculation here but Prince probably AVOIDS it because if he did collab w/W+L the results could outshine the work he's done since leaving WB Records.
In fact, I forgot most of the work since he left WB Records... anyway, also it would seem kind of like he also went back to them for rather them coming to him.
For the recent Revolution reunion he flaked on a promise to appear... to Bobby Z! So who knows whats going on. I have a few scenarios.
@wendileona I have to disagree with you on that about Wendy & Lisa outshining Prince because of Sign O The Times, Lovesexy, Graffiti Bridge (the album not the movie), Diamonds & Pearls etc... I can't name all of his albums that he's done right now because there's so many, but Prince is & always shall be the Mozart & Salvador Dali of Rock and Roll. I give some credit to Wendy & Lisa but they did not make Prince, he made himself & I've been to 20 of his concerts over the years; I'm a true fan.
I gotta admit, I use to watch the Fancy Ray show when I was younger. The show was pretty cool. And Ray had some really great interviewing skills. I mean really good questions from start to finish.
OMG thanks 4 posting this!!!! God Bless BOBBY Z! a true legend in pop music...this is a real treat for us Revolution fans and those whom appreciate true music!

I don't get it... Bobby was ultra committed to Prince, he was loyal, tight thing... then he got a gold watch and a see ya?
Still difficult to understand what really happened, I sat straight up in my chair thinking oh, he's going to explain it and nope.
Oh well.

@wendileona I often wonder if Prince misses the collaboration with Wendy and Lisa.
