@TheHumanPath Great vid! Make some primitive strings! What was the draw weights? Survival bows are a waste in real situations, start with snare traps, and maybe an Atlatl.
@5tonyvvvv Yeah, I'll get to primitive strings as well, and arrows. Draw weights range from about 25 -40 lbs with these bows. Snares are always the first choice, but atlatls don't really do much good, esp in this heavy brush terrain. Survival bow much more practical, esp if you have some paracord anyway. Beargrass cordage is extremely fast to make and very strong. Blunt arrows for birds/small game very fast too. Would rather use throwing stick than atlatl here though.
@TheHumanPath Atlatls are very effective here in Tasmania there used for all kinds of game in dense brush. No one uses bows here, and there's no good bow wood here anyway. What is bear grass cordage? how strong is it?
@5tonyvvvv Maybe then... you're probably better at throwing in brush than I am. The radius of movement for an arm + atlatl is huge, compared to the draw length for a snap bow that doesn't even need to be a full draw length. Beargrass (Nolina bigelovii/texana) is the strongest cordage I have worked with in my 25 years of primitive skills. A little stronger than yucca, which also grows everywhere here and is fast to make also.
Excellent video. You have skills that modern people have totally forgotten about or lost after generations of dependence on technology. If techonology fails us in 2012, it's people like you that are going to survive....and the iPod generation will have a huge

Good video. You reach the depth of bows that I have been looking for.
