He's letting the notes ring a lot to demonstrate the sustain, which is quite a good idea when demoing a pedal like this. Better than all the widdly shredding demoes on Youtube which tell you nothing about the gear being used.

@chatnoirband I know, it's a compressor; and the 'ringing' of notes is germane. I just wish he'd have played a couple of flourishes because in a real world scenario players do that too. Still, thanks for the post fatback2-
