  • If you watch C.R.A.Z.Y you would know what the title means

  • only gay people get top comment

  • The only thing I didn't like about Beautiful Thing was that the supposedly "plain" character was actually better looking than the popular "hot" character.

  • lol. a cat is just randomly licking itself in the background :) haha.

  • C.R.A.Z.Y stands for the boys names

  • everyone is talking about which movies you didnt mention. i just wanna say your eyes are stunning!

  • I love latter days ;***

  • You are cute!

  • I LOVE YOU I LOVE YOU I LOVE YOOOOOOOOOOOOOOU!!!!!! Why? Because for THE LIFE!!! of me i could not remember the titles to some of these movies (Get Real in particular) and you totally helped thank you thank you THANK YOOOOOOOOOU!!!

  • I love Joseph Gordon Levitt. He was the perfect actor for the role in Mysterious Skins.

  • I think the reason why so many people don`t give these types of movies a chance is because they think that theres going to be gay sex scenes everywhere, which I`m sure there is in some, but what straight movie doesn`t? I consider myself Bisexual, although I`m more attracted towards women.

  • My cousin makes me watch glbt movies (i make her watch b&w silent movies, so were even). And I have to disagree with you on a few of these movies, but most with latter days. The acting was stilted, the script was a cliche (the ending, seriously?) and the editing was torture. But I loved mysterious skin. Meaning JGL *can* act. Just not in latter days.

  • It's called C.R.A.Z.Y. because of the five boys; Christian, Raymond, Antoine, Zachary, and Yvan. I just saw the movie and at the end it showed the five boy's first letters spell out C.R.A.Z.Y. Get Real is an okay movie. I have Beautiful Thing on DVD and it is a beautiful movie. Latter Days is a great movie. I loved it.

  • Prayers For Bobby took my breath away, It makes a million good points about both sides of the arguments but ultimately shows how we are so quick to judge and degrade and hate on each other that we miss out on the most important thing in life; love.

  • epic cat in the backround

  • does anybody knows a strange film, where theres a scne with a bunch of boys jerkin to a cookie or somethin like that? lol i've been looking and searching and nuthin!

  • c.r.a.z.y ...very good movie..loved it. Latter Days was really good...I liked it. Mysterious Skin was very avant garde...well done in my opinion.

  • Seguiré tus sugerencias ;)

  • I LOOOOVE ROCK HAVEN!!!!!!!!!!!

  • there are a lot gay themed films, but not many (not to say any) that shows gay stuff as secondary

i mean, just an ordinary movie with some gay couple appearing on it, after all gay relationships should be seen as normal. if there are straight couples and families on movies, why not gay too?..

  • C.R.A.Z.Y.- I believe each letter stands for the names of the brothers.

  • @SubRosa999 that's right, im where the movie is from ann i can assure you that youre right :D

  • Velvet Goldmine Hands Down

  • cake boy

  • GAY LORD OF THE RINGS

  • btw, I think Get Real should be at the way top. Brilliant film, amazing actors. Sure the story has been told before, but it was beautifully done.

  • You should watch The Curiosity of Chance. The movie is about a gay guy being bullied for his sexuality. He and his friends try to stop the stop the bully. It is a comedy.

  • Latter Days :)

  • C.R.A.Z.Y stands for the names of each of the children. Z being for Zach, the main character. And yes indeed he was very hot!

  • C.R.A.Z.Y was the 1st initial for each of the children..*

  • i love mysterous skin its one of my favorte movies ever

  • edge of seventeen...dosen`t get better...

  • "from begining to end" and redwoods are other two great movies !!!!!

  • LATTER DAYS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! X]

  • sorry for all the comments haha, i think ur missing a very good movie, the fave ive ever watched and made me cry alot, very sad story line but still amazing film, 'Prayers For Bobby'

    Its an exceptional film

  • @kwallb44 Everyone keeps telling me to see "Prayers for Bobby!" Must be an amazing film. It's on my rental list for sure!

  • @JayBellBooks It's based on a true story! :)

  • @JayBellBooks yeah a very touching movie..A MUST SEE!!!

  • @JayBellBooks

Well in all fairness this video was made made in '09 of April. That movie wasn't released until Jan of '09. Put two and two together people! LOL!!!

  • @JayBellBooks

Oh yes it IS an amazing film!! I watched it and almost couldn't stop to cry :')

  • You're so cute...

  • Oh and I loved Mysterious Skin! :D

  • watched shelter ,it was great thanks !!!

  • my favorite my has to be ''from beginning to end''

  • thank you for accepting my video review as a response.. It was actually your recommendation that made me want to watch Mysterious Skin!

  • ur eyes are like shockingly blue ( in a good way)

  • You should include - Maurice, Another Country, My Own Private Idaho & Brokeback Mountain.

  • C.R.A.Z.Y. is the initials of the 5 brothers

  • I need to check all of them lol.

  • Straight woman, but I am quite active in LGBT matters and several of my friends are gay. This is a good list--I've been watching clips of Mysterious Skin on Youtube to get a feel for it. Half the time I can barely watch, and the other half I'm plastered to the screen because JOSEPH GORDON-LEVITT GAAAAAH.

The ending is beautiful, even if it makes me feel like my heart was stomped on. You don't get a lot of movies like that.

  • Personally think Latter Days and Get Real should be higher.

But everyone has different opinions :D

  • I just watched "Mysterious Skin" and It just kinda destroyed me. Its so sad and so true. Its also a bit a disturbing and graphic, but I loved it. And Jay is right, Joseph Gordon Levitt is so good looking, hes like really handsome!

  • ne ghiabbu e mancu maravigghia

  • You're cute! =)

  • This is really good. I think Mysterious Skin was one of the most honest films I've ever seen. Glad to see it on your list. :)

  • i would have wtahced crazy it but its french =[ o well thanks anyways some nice films there =]

  • crazy, get real, latterdays. out of your list here these are my favourites. for movies like mysterious skin, they make me sad cause there is no happy ending per se and you know we all want that happy ending. Anyway is am gonna check out your book now.

  • im a lesbian and im open to watch male gay movies one of my fav is rocky horror u gave me an idea i think ill do one but mine will be top 10 fav lesbian movies by the way your cat is cool i own 6 cats are awesome

  • c.r.a.z.y. is called that cuz it's the first letter of all of the sons names in the family

  • I LOVE Beautiful Thing!

  • pls marry me!!!!!!

  • The title letters stand for the initials of all the sons "C.R.A.Z.Y" i think C is christian i cant remember the names.

  • I'd put mysterious skin as number 1.

  • C.r.a.z.y is The name of a Song by patsy cline and The initials letters from The name of The five brothers in The film. Sorry for My english, I'm just an Italian teenager

  • just finished watching latter days and it was definitely a good movie. on a personal note you seem like a pretty intelligent guy plus you have pretty eyes. : blushes and goes away quietly: oh well had to say it. take care. hope you don't mind. :)

  • I disagree with him saying that get real is more realistic than beautiful thing because although get real was a good movie beautiful thing is quite realistic and has quite a bit of depth. not only does one boy have to dealwith an abusve brother and dad but also has to deal with the fact that he is gay and discovering his feelings for a neighbor. the neighbor automatically knows that he has feelings for this boy but everything is new for the other boy. quite a compelling movie.

  • Kitteh!!!!!!!!

  • Mysterious Skin is such a deep and disturbing film ... I love it, but I cover my face during parts of it every time tho

  • I have seen all of these film but I disagree with you about beautiful things...The movie is good and I kind of liked it better than the Get Real...but the play beautiful thing is awesome.,,,it has way more emotion in it than Get Real (to me this was very run of mill).

  • A recent personal favorite is Eyes Wide Open, a great take on jewish gay love. Was shown in Cannes and LLGFF is released on May 14th by peccadillo pictures check the film's blog for more info eyeswideopenmovie(dot)org

  • @TheMale8 never heard of eyes wide open.

  • crazy is the an acronym of the first letters of each sons name.

  • I love the movie Latter Days, it will probably be my favorite movie after the 10th time I watch it.

  • yo cat buggin

  • I dont understand why people are so homophobic! I mean gay people dont get grossed out or wierded out when they see a straight couple, and also if gays said that straights cant get married. Love is the same no matter what. PS: I am straight

  • @TheCheetahwings I don't know why they are homophobic either. Maybe it's just a matter of what they've been exposed to before. The more gay people are out, the more people will get used to seeing them. It'll just take time.

  • @TheCheetahwings well i think its the matter ov religon tht hv pple paranoid

  • @TheCheetahwings It's called arrogance, and presumed superiority in the name of the majority number of people. Hetero's need to get over it and just love and let love for a change.

  • shelter is nice...cute guys and very talented casts..though i didn't see much chemistry/passion between the couple, maybe because they are both straights in real life...Try to watch "Time to leave" and "Summerstorm" both foreign films but have subtitles.s

  • @jackass082 summerstorm was so good. the scene on the dock is so passionate and such a good scene. don't want to give too much away but the other boy that the boy is making love to is very gentle with him.

  • The movie makers for Mysterious Skin weren't brave. They were just following the book--which was a lot better than the movie and the movie is amazing lol =)

  • Latter Days and Mysterious Skin I enjoyed very much..!

Haven't heard of the others though!

  • Can anyone tell me the names of some class gay movies, which are sentimental like brokeback mountain and milk. ? i dont want any sex scenes in that but gay touch. specially movies which have intergenerational feelings like in A Single Man. Plz help ur gay community member in this ... Thanx

  • Mysterious Skin was amazingly intense i liked it but it was so hard to watch i felt so bad for neil.

  • Prayers for Bobby should be in top 10

  • I watched Mysterious Skin...

Now I'm afraid of watching the other movies on this list. It was just... so crushing!

  • Don't be scared. Mysterious Skin is really the only emotionally crushing film on the list. Uhhh... Except maybe Latter Days. It gets kind of intense toward the end.

  • @JayBellBooks mysterious skin was alright but I mainly watched for joseph gordon levitt's performance. it is very intense and such a raw film as well very gritty.

  • @JayBellBooks have you seen the french movie come undone and if so is it any good? I saw the trailer for it on youtube and it looks good but unfortunately the movie isn't uploaded on youtube.

  • mysterious skin is such a great film, the book is awesome, too, i love it!!

  • Se I never thought of Mysterious Skin as a gay film really. More just a film about some really terrible things happening to people. The main themes wouldnt have changed so much had the two main characters been female.

  • I love your cat, all chill just cleaning himself in the backround

  • @Glinter69 that is a pretty cat

  • here are some good gay movies you should watch

    Beautiful Thing

    Maurice (1987)

    Trick (1999)

just a queston of love (french get subtitles)

    Edge of Seventeen (1998)

  • @sheiladin i just watched beautiful thing, THE ENDING WAS SO CUTE, i cought myself smiling like crazy at the end :)

  • @Titanz91 I kept smiling at the adrable ending of beautiful thing as well.

  • @sheiladin didn't care for edge of seventeen

  • omgosh i cant belive you put latter days at 7 it is one of the most moving movies i have ever seen i have never cried more in a movie but maybe i should watch the rest of the movies on the list lol but that was an awesome movie

  • mysterious skin is...wow...it's acutally my favourite movie right now ;)

  • i was looking for a gay related film to watch tonight. i think ill watch mysterious skin

  • Everyone needs to watch Mysterious Skin.

I have the full movie favorited on my page.

It is so emotional but HOTT at the same time lol and Neil the main character is smoking hott

  • C.r.a.z.y. = the first letter of the brothers names.

  • yeah gays!

  • How can he not no what c.r.a.z.y stands for? He saw? The movie.

  • I totally agree, that's a key piece of the film, and it's impossible to have really seen it without getting that

  • what does it stand for?

  • Latter Days is my number one, its a movie about normal common day to day people... one thing i like about the movie is that they dont show a single gay bar with people taking drugs all the time.

  • Nice cat!

  • You're so right about dreaming the songs from Hedwig and the Angry Inch. I've heard Origin of Love in passing. I didn't love it at first, but I looked at the lyrics and it stuck in my head. It definitely haunts me a little, and makes me hopeful, and yet sad for some reason. Honestly, the last verse always leaves me feeling a little hurt. Rawr.

But, yeah, that song is definitely my go-to shower/I'm alone in this room, and I feel like singing song.

  • @KellyKeratin hedwig and the angry inch was just too odd for me.

  • I've seen clips of Mysterious Skin It looks like an amazing film, but I don't think I'd be able to watch the whole thing.

  • damn yeah! almost forgot about "bad education", it's brilliant too :D...

pd: i felt like watching misterious skin, the plot sounds quite good XD...

  • Just looked up Bad Education and added it to my rental list. Sounds really cool!

  • Bad Education (La mala educación) is a Pedro Almadóvar film. He is my favorite director. I recommend you to also check out another of his brilliant films: Todo sobre mi madre (All about my mother). BTW this latter one won an Oscar...

  • @JayBellBooks do you have any suggestions for gay short films? I have seen a few like lucky blue(good swedish short film), summer blues, flatmates(another good swedish short film) davy and stu(decent enough I guess except phony accents) and heartland(very good). I don't mind if they are foreign short films as long as they have english subtitles the main thing is for them to be interesting.

  • @ericnfan Haven't seen "Come Undone" yet. As for short films, I never really watch them. There's a great one on YouTube with Gaspard Ulliel (who is gorgeous) called "Paris Je T'aime - Le Marais" That one stuck with me.

  • @ericnfan i saw a collection of short films that was pretty good called "not|gay" you should check that out if you get a chance

  • Really? What didn't you like about it?

  • Well I just wasnt impressed with the whole drepressing side to the film and how long that went on in the film. I do like drama but I just think they could have balanced it out better.

I Think I'm going to love hedwig and the angry itch!

  • If you thought Latter Days was too depressing then you've probably never met any gay person that came out of a Mormon Family. In reality Latter Days glossed over how much crap they have to go through.

  • I thought it was amazing

  • Just watched Mysterious Skin and ADORED it. It was incredibly deep. I enjoyed Latter Days too and Get Real, though I think Beautiful Thing is still one of my faves.

I haven't seen C.R.A.Z.Y. yet (planning on it) or Hedwig and the Angry Inch, which I'm sure I love considering how much I like musicals :)

  • Shit you look AND talk just like my literature teacher! xD

  • Really? You should take some hidden camera footage of him so I can see. x_x

  • THESE R GREAT!!! Bad Education -Argentina Maurice - english The Bubble - Israel Formula 17 - Japan Clapham Junction*** -english Mambo Italiano - Canada Burnt Money - Argentina, Spain No Regret* - Korea Frozen Flowers (love it)* - Korea A Home at the End of the World* - USA Stage Beauty- USA, English Quinceanera- USA Summer Storm- German
  • @cuteislandchild

Some great movies you listed there. I just wanted to point out that Formula 17 is from Taiwan, not Japan. Taiwan has another great gay-themed movie called Eternal Summer, but it's quite serious, unlike Formula 17. I highly recommend it!

  • Thanks. U are right Formula 17 is from Taiwan. I have also seen Eternal Summer, very good movie. I am always looking for good movies in this genre. Too bad a lot of them kinda suck.

  • @cuteislandchild I liked home at the end of the world. I wouldn't consider stage beauty a full out gay movie because there was more to it than that that was just a small part of it. billycrudup had a very brief gay relationship in the movie. more of the plot of the movie was the fact that men had to play female parts on stage because women were not allowed to play female parts. such a shame but true.

  • i've only wathced mysterious skin and i totqally agree with ur review it was moving and powerful

  • seen everyone of the films except Hedwig and the angry inch...might just watch it, not fond of musical film though

  • I love Mysterious skin its my second favorite gay film. I want to see beautiful thing

  • the reason the movie is called C.R.A.Z.Y. is because the letters are initials of the brothers names - more like they stand for the first letter of each brothers name. Christian, Raymond, Antoine, Zac and forgot the little kids name. Zac realises the same in the end when he tries giving his dad the LP record of patsy cline (the one that he broke when he was a kid)

  • I love Get Real but the ending was a bit different then i thought was going to happen. i have not heard of the other ones? i will be sure to look them up

  • this guy looks like micheal alig...party monster.

  • look at that package...

arn't there little eyes on YT?

  • Truly innocent minds won't understand my "package" comment. ;)

  • well but it kinda zooms in you kno.... but good thinking ^^

  • I subscribed to you :) you so really cool and cute and I love your knowledge

  • Hedwig RULESSS.Thanx for making this video,i am looking for this kind of things

  • hey ur a gay puff lol

  • Tell me something I don't know!

  • Hey...You do not know the best movie...I think you missed the best gay movie so far..according to me..it is " Brokeback Mountain"

  • how many friggen cats do you have?!?!?!?!

  • Just two, but they move around a lot. Maybe that confused you. ;)

  • I love Mysterious Skin. It's based off a novel, you know. Haha. The book is also really wonderful, and I'd check it out if you really loved the movie.

  • I'm thinking that c.r.a.z.y. Is a acronym for all the main characters names.

  • Thanks for posting this. I just saw Mysterious Skin and it was just disturbingly bittersweet. Thanks for the recomendation. :) I'll need to watch the others soon.

  • Get Real I got mine at Barns and Noble of all places.. I just thought I say that..

  • You are Crazy? Crazy is ought to be number one in my list.

Now Mysterious Skin shouldn't be accounted for Gay film; but about childhood, teenage and young adulthood. I felt crushed when I watched it.

  • Me too i cryed so hard during Mysterious Skin TT^TT

  • sweet cat! so cute!

  • awesome great video!

  • Get REAL . . . love it . . . got my copy off the director! . . . soo gd . . . went to film school in london for an open day thing and he was doing a taster lecture . . . i shout i love u thn i ducked .. . at end he ask for questioned my hand went up and i simply said, where can i get a copy i can't get it . . . he said germany, thn said he give me a copy . . . its based in basingstoke where i go to college . . . sat in park on bench thn thought 'fuck this is where get real was filmed

  • check out the movie "WERE THE WORLD MINE"

i think its pretty good. not the best. but worth checking out.

  • one more thing: Your cat is sweet :-) you'r sweet :-) your vid is great and you'r film-taste is SO like mine :-P

you'r really cute, and a great speaker :-D

i have a litle question, u dont have to answer if u don't want to: r u gay? :-D lucky bf or gf ;-P

  • Yeah, I'm gay. =) Thanks for the compliments!

  • Okay, that sweet ;-) I think you'r cute :-P

  • U R SO COOL!! really, u r so so so cool!!

the first 8 seks.. it's so cool!

  • you should think about putting "The Broken Hearts Club:a romantic comedy" on your list it is a great movie i really love the ending

  • I agree, mem1077, "The Broken Hearts Club" is a favourite Sunday afternoon movie of mine. And talk about music that sticks in your head - all the Carpenters' covers - sung beautifully by a women I'd never heard of.

  • I love Get Real it is my favorite movie!

  • c.r.a.z.y. = an acronym standing for the first initial of each son. remember, the father's obsession with patsy cline?

  • Someone explained the acronyms to me since I made this video, but I STILL didn't get the connection to the Patsy Klein song. I'm a little slow sometimes! =P

  • I love a couple of these flicks. But, Mysterious Skin creeps me out a little bit though. But I loved Get Real and Latter Days. I'll check out Hedwig.

  • I've seen ...

    Hedwig and the Angry Inch

    Latter Days

    Mysterious Skin

Woo... now I gotta see the other two.

  • Hey I'm happy that a Canuck film made your list too :)

  • I'll be doing a review of "Lilies" on my blog soon, another great Canadian gay movie. =]

  • Hedwig has a killer soundtrack!! My favourite scene was the animation of "The Origin of Love" I just bawled the first time I saw it. This was before I met my soul mate nearly seven years ago.

I felt such yearning to find the person that I felt I'd always known, that person who perhaps I have a connection to that transcends time and space.

I met that person his name is Warren. He is the half of me that I had longed for all my life, it sounds corny but he completes me. He was the missing piece.

  • "The Origin of Love" is the song that really struck me the first time too and made me watch them film again and again.

I'm so glad you found your missing piece! Love is the best thing in the world.

  • Omg your really really reallyyy HOTT

  • Hi Jay, I often think of "Get Real" and "Beautiful Thing" in the same breath. I adore both of them and would hate to chose. Another along those lines is "Edge of Seventeen", set in the 80s. Its less serious than the other two, but also an excellent coming of age film. And can't say enough good about "Hedwig": a gay character who should never have gone to the surgeon, an incredible soundtrack and J.C.M. is an incredible director!

  • A lot of Edge of Seventeen mirrored my own story. A little too close to home at times. At least my mom was way cooler.

  • I love Edge of Seventeen. I saw yesterday Latter Days and didn't like it that much. Hedwig rocks!!

  • I like Latter Days Much more than Edge of 17.

  • get real and beautiful thing are amazing movies haven' seen the others
