  • Hey man just found your vids, Sweet cars. Still enjoying the HOS disks. Hope you are doing well. Gonna be picking up another Fiero soon hopefully. Peace

    Pete

  • any mods you have to do to it to fit it in?

  • sounds kickass!

  • Why does the LQ1 always sound AWESOME in Fieros, and sound like crap in their original W-bodies?

  • @rwdplz1 Probably has something to do with emissions. ;) The video is with only the stock Fiero muffler in line, no cat or resonator. The car sounded great, but it wasn't ever really loud. There are some BAD ASS sounding Grand Prix's and Lumina's running around though.

  • @rwdplz1 less exhaust, its routed differently

  • Beautiful, great car, great drivetrain (no idea what tranny tho) but those tail lights, man they are just too big and long LOL, that would be my only complaint if I had a Fiero, do they make smaller aftermarket tail lights for it? LOL

  • @TacticalSuperRebel I actually really enjoy the taillight look. They made the car look older and somewhat out of a comic book. But different strokes for everyone, right? Lots of people have chopped up the original lenses to change the look - inserting round corvette lenses is popular. I converted to the newer body style before I ever got into anything like that. But a little time and a creative idea go a long way.

  • post some 0-60 times

  • thats such a bog motor for that lil car my god it must go lol

  • Believe it does.

  • @Emc209i

    0-60 aproximately?

I'm contemplating what motor to put in my 5 spd '87, and am still not even certain if I'll go the v8 or v6 route.

the 3.4 puts out about 210 hp right, and the 3800 sc about 250?

I'm not too sure about those Caddy v8's seems like a bitch to stuff in there.

350 TPI doesn't seem to hard.

    Thoughts?

    Nice car btw!

  • My thoughts....

I currently drive a 3800 powered car. The 4.9 is easssy to install, but slow as slow goes, and use a 80's style EFI. I've seen enough SBC's hacked together that I have a bad taste in my mouth. And of course, don't let Archie do anything with your car.... seen several of his installs.. not at all impressed. TPI is about as retarded as the 4.9, no offense. An LS4 swap would be very nice.

Entirely up to your tastes, but I recommend the 3800. Best fit, best power, best following.

  • 0-60 No idea man. Sorry. :)

  • Gawd I hate those engines. Have fun doing the timing. lol

  • timing was one of the easiest jobs Ive even done on the Z34s and Grand Prix GTPs (etc) ..

Unless your referring to this particular swap?

And BTW, for 1991s, this was a awesome lil V6 :)

  • It's the whole "timing chain-plus-belt-via-'dummy cam'-system-with-enough-idler-pullys-to-fill-a-skatepark-shoved-under-a-big-aluminum-timing cover" system. Someone got bored in GMs design department trying to use up old blocks and make a dohc out of it. lol Maybe the marketing department got their grubs in it.

  • It's one of the most complicated cam drive systems used in cars. -enjoy-

  • really i didnt thinkso 3 hours to do my belt was easy.

  • Two idlers, one tensioner pulley, one drive cog, four cam cogs! D: OMG RUN AWAY!!!111oneone

    Oh well. :)

  • Yea, it looks complicated and it is more complicated then say your average 3.1 or 3.8, but its worth it! and once you have worked on one, its not as bad as your imagination might lead you to believe..... every engine has its 'hard-to-reach' areas! I just wish they kept making these until like 2000 or so and maybe made a turbo Grand Prix with the DOHC instead of the plain 3.1, but oh well.....

  • @pontiac92gp After moving the battery up front, there was a REDICULOUS amount of room to get to the timing belt area.

    [Delete the quotations] "h"t"t"p":"/"/"tinyurl"."c"o"m"/"3"7"c"y"f"n"o"

  • I've already done the timing in the car 3 times.... :)

When people say things like this it makes me think that they must be lazy or something. No offense, but there are much harder motors to replace a timing belt on.

  • yea like VW timing belts they suck. the VR6 motors are crap.

  • i agree i changed my belt on my z34 its not that hard. 3 hours.

  • sounds great

  • How did you run your alternator belt? Did you use A/C? If not, please let me know from which car has that correct lenght.

  • At the time when I filmed this, the belt was not even on the car - we were fabricating a power steering bypass. There is an A/C compressor there, and the belt is routed normally now. I'm not sure what dimminsion belt you would need for an a/c delete.

  • stock exhaust? BTW is that a 5-speed?

  • You know where my build thread is...

  • that crossover looks less than Ideal

  • '95 Monte Carlo

  • what did you get the 3.4 out of?
