I really like her voice! (: But I prefer Lea Salonga as Fantine, her voice is not that pure, but stronger and she puts more actual acting in her songs. Better for a musical.

If you listen to nothing else, at least listen to 3:10-3:30. Her voice becomes a ghost somewhere in the duration of that last note. Her voice heart-breaks me.

@IDontshine423 In the novel, Fantine is specifically described as being a blonde. Although I hope she's brunette in the movie because Anne Hathaway does not look good as a blonde, in my opinion. LOL

Fantine's probably the most dynamic female lead is the musical and I find that Ruthie does her justice :). No hatin' on Lea Salonga, in my opinion she's a fantastic Eponine and her voice is more suited toward that role

Everyone kept on comparing Lea and Ruthie as Fantine. This is m first time hearing Ruthie singing this song. My opinion, both are equally great, but to their own degree. Lea's was really beautiful and realistic. Ruthie was beautiful to the fantasy level.

I am theater manager with a huge background in all theater. Les Mis was always by far my favorite and have seen it many times.....here and in England. I am a fortunate man. The only woman as Fantine who made me cry,,,like a baby was this woman, Ruthie Henshall. She is perfect in every way and makes each person in the audience fall madly in love with her character. So this was my first youtube video ever watch, I went right for Ruthie, love you!!
