Sarah Palin showed how mush she cared about her community when she left her job as Governor of Alaska to make more money writing books, attending speaking engagements and doing a reality show, all in the name of making her Alaskan community a better place to live. She is calling American’s attentions to the plight of the unlucky Alaskan not receiving enough money from their oil reserves. Wow, what an organizer. NOT!!!!
Yea I can't believe the GOP and what they said about community organizers. Even an unsuccessful community organizer has more moral fiber than John Mccain or Sarah Palin. They work hard long hours for little to no money or recognition, and from time to time one of them does something amazing and changes the shape of a city, nation, or the entire planet.
The Keating Five were five US Senators accused of corruption in 1989, igniting a major political scandal as part of the larger Savings and Loan crisis of the late 1980s and early 1990s. The five senators,John McCain (R-AZ) Alan Cranston (D-CA), Dennis DeConcini (D-AZ), John Glenn (D-OH), ), and Donald W. Riegle (D-MI), were accused of improperly aiding Charles H. Keating, Jr., chairman of the failed Lincoln S&L Assoc, which was the target of an investigation
Besides the fact that the historical account of Jesus is very debatable, I liked all of the other community organizers in this video. What bothers me is that community organization is solid political experience any way you slice it. Perhaps more legitimate than being a Senator today.

The one person shown, Jesus, did he approve of infanticide, not taking care of His own brother's, (Barrak's brother living on $1 a month.)
Why all of a sudden do the Democrats want to include religion into politics. What about seperation of church and state, or did you forget about that stand.
Prsumming that Jesus and Barrak are alike, that is even got to be hard for you too believe.
First, you're buying lies, not any more true than the bogus list of books Palin was rumored to have banned. Second, the point isn't to claim Obama is Jesus. It's just to say Giuliani and Palin were totally out of line and offended a lot of people who may not even be Obama supporters.
right. I'm sure Jesus was more in line with everything of, by, and for the rich. I'm sure Christ was also for oil wars that kill untold thousands of civilians, most of them women and children. I'm sure Jesus was also a racist, like the base of the Republican party. I could go on and on but I won't.
In any case, eat a shotgun. I'm sure Christ would approve of that, too.
1. Because our economy doesn't run on gatorade. We don't have the reserves to meet our consumption.
2. Your presumption is incorrect: That is, the idea that Cheney went to war to drive down oil prices; to benefit US consumers--they did not. In fact, the opposite is true. Crony capitalists don't sit around thinking what's best for the people, they do what's best for business. Always has, and will always be that way.
...and I bet Bono would totally agree with ya and be ok with your use of this song :) He is part of the One Campaign to end Poverty and so, also a community organizer.
Thank you so much. It appalls me how little people know about what community organizing really constitutes. I was shocked and insulted at the repeated smears against this kind of political involvement at the RNC. I don't think the republicans realized (or maybe they did) that comments like those effectually imply that the only way a person should be active in the betterment of their lives, country and community is to, well, participate in politics as usual. Ironic?
That was a beautiful video and should remind us all that John McCain & Sarah Palin & Republicans don't care about the community. Thousands laughed and cheered as she belittled us all in the community not just Obama, She laughed at all of us trying to do something for our communities. The Elite laughed at hard working people - That's not Change! Vote Obama-Biden '08 for change
I don't understand why people in this country think that Socialism = Anti-America. Socialism is a competing idea with capitalism. Capitalism isn't intrinsically American, and America isn't intrinsically capitalist. It's because our economy and our political philosophies share ideas on both sides of the Socialist-Capitalist spectrum that makes us strong. Pure capitalism would not be favorable for most people. So why is it ok to call yourself a capitalist, but unamerican to be socialist?
Republicans are people full of hate: hate to unions, hate to poor people, hate to minorities, hate to comunities, hate for those who don't think exactly like them. The RNC was a hatefest, not a single idea for the country, not a hand for hel just hate. Worst, they call themselves Christian when they are faresees
What the f*ck does socialism have to do with anything? This sort of thing is AMERICAN. It's because we have strong things outside government that our system works. That's why Russia, with no history of it, went straight into a style of capitalism that failed totally and led to default. If not for a US government bailout of a huge hedge fund, the whole world economy would have melted down.
american predatory capitalist criminals, along with domestic traitors feeding on the remains of the soviet union are largely to blame. are you denying the close historical relationship between unions and communist activists in this country? give me a break.
Meet Obama and the bills currently in congress sponsored by each member. In this tally, could you guess who has more bills sponsored - Obama or McSame? The count is 129 - 38. Obama wins AGAIN!
And for further review Obama's record:
152, is the most recent tally of the number of bills that Senator Obama has authored in the US Senate.
427 is the current count of the number of bills Obama has co-sponsored in the U.S. Senate.
820 is the number of laws Obama sponsored in the Illinois State Senate.
NO. But I consider the diss the equivalent of Biden saying in his convention speech:
"I guess being a fly boy pilot who's crahed a plane and broken under torture is a bit like being a hero, except for the heroic beating the enemy part." I still get red-the-face, want to punch-that-woman-in-the-face mad every time I think about it.
By the way, I'm saying it would have been out of line for Biden to do anything of the sort. But it is totally the equivalent for her to say what she did. Barack is just not as thin skinned and prickly as McCain so he laughs it off as pathetic trash talk.
thats how you know you dont have a brain and thoughts. No comparison there...just exmples of that stand for. It doesnt say that OBAMA IS THE NEXT JESUS OR THIS AND THAT. ITS CALLED EXMPLES. OPEN YOUR BRAIN PLEASE
The Republicans love America; it's just the 97% of the populace that aren't rich, that they hate. Did you know that making up to $5 million per year makes you middle class, according to the McCaininites. Did you ever notice that the Republicans never refer to poor people. It is much the same as the way we never talk about the texture of our feces, at the dinner table. Such distasteful subjects are offensive to our finer sensibilities. What should your country stand for, besides wealth?
I appreciate this video; it is an effective presentation of community organizers. However, I must point out a commonly-held misconception. Jesus did not say, "Do unto others..." He said, according to Matt. 22:39,
"Thou shalt love thy neighbor as thyself." There's a difference. And we don't want to give the GOP any reason to criticize our claims!
Just the hell up with these leaps of logic. You all know damn well the video is to point out that a Community Organizer isn't a "slur"! The GOP made it a "slur" during their convention.
Barack has worked as a senator for 11 years, a lawyer and a professor, but they zeroed in on his three years as a COmmunity Organizer for a REASON. WHY? Tell me that before you sprout such ignorance.
The GOP believes that if you can't pull yourself up by your own bootstraps, then you deserve to wallow in poverty and despair. Fortunately, the Democrats believe that government can help.

Wow! Barack Obama is the equivalent of Mohandas Gandhi or Jesus of Nazareth? Hilary Clinton is a community organizer? (By that standard, aren't all politicians community organizers?) Why don't you include other community organizers like Hitler, Mussolini or V.I. Lenin? They were community organizers too.
What a splendidly bitter and pessimistic view. Of course he isn't the equivalent; but they were community organizers and so is he, by Palin's own admission.
Not bitter, not pessimistic. Just because Obama was a community organizer means nothing, just because some community organizers have done great things. That doesn't mean Obama did, and the purpose of the video is to equate him - by association - with great people. If you want to see bitter, look at the hate-filled comments here from your fellow leftists.
No. The purpose of this video is to celebrate what people can do when they come together. And to celebrate people who have inspired them. It has nothing to do with bitterness. It has nothing to do with one person's deeds. It has everything to do with hope.
Of course it has to do with one person's - Obama's alleged deeds - unstated, btw. Did Obama do great things as a "community organizer" (aka rabble rouser)? I don't know. I hear he was one, but never what he did. That some "community organizers" have done great things is pointless; others have done mediocre things or bad things. The "hope" Obama offers is for socialism in our time. Thanks, but no thanks. I'll do as I did the last two times and vote for the less bad candidate.

Obama campaign really needs something like this for an national ad right the election.
This is a gentle, touching reminder of some of our most inspirational community organizers. These men and women didn't set out to change the world, just improve one little piece of it. They each reached a point where they had to say, "Enough!" "This is no longer working!" "If not me, who?"
Rather than dismissing community organizers as insignificant, they should be lauded as the selfless heroes they are!
This one is worthy of a TV ad... whoever's out there that could make this happen should seriously invest the $ on national and local TV air time. It says it all.
This is a great video that recognizes all those that worked to make their community a beter place and didn't have to run for election to do it but took on responsibility freely for the good of others.
"I guess a small-town mayor is sort of like a 'community organizer,' except that you have actual responsibilities."
Yeah, lets slam the regular folks that spend their time organizing things for their communities. Who get paid nothing for it, and only have other people's best interest at heart. Yeah community organizers don't do shit. But Palin as a mayor, getting paid way too much, having people working for her. Yeah she did a whole lot by herself.
Actually, it is this: ORGANIZER+COMMUNITY=CHANGE, and that is enough to make one HOPE and DREAM for the first time in nearly a decade. Thank you for this moving piece!
This is some good stuff. Thanks for both informing the general public about these inspiring individuals and reprimanding the GOP for their ignorant comments on how community organizers have "no responsibilities."
