  • Fucking WOW!!! This songs pumps me up Vai is a Beast!!

  • Pretty Jazzy eh?

  • zappa knew... monster this guy is... felt kind of repulsive to this artist, but when i saw him playing with zappa, i knew he wasn't just some overrated virtuoso guitarist.. he has style for composing and zappa had great influence on him.. i'm so glad for that... BRAVO VAI...

  • La forma en que interpreta es extraordinaria.

  • That "old guy" directing the astonishing Metropole orchestra is the incredibly gifted composer / arranger Dick Bakker.

  • You'd this after all these he'd have the music of this tattooed on the inside of his eye lids... I guess I'm lucky enough to have this painted on my brain. No better use for paint. :-D

  • i have watched this video 139086 times ... why am i the one? XD

    VAI FUCKIN' RULES!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Most definitely, this is his tribute song to Frank Zappa. 2:38 to 3:15 were right out of Joe's Garage (think instrumental break in "Wet T-Shirt Night").

  • So amazing...

  • 1:26 Hey!

  • It's crazy to think that he wrote this song when he was like 16 or some age close to that

  • TONGUARMONICS

  • GREAT!!!

  • He makes the most audacious techniques look like the easiest things in the world. Incredible musician.

  • i believe frank would approve

  • I LOVE the horn accents

  • I've heard of biting through a g-string with your teeth... but that takes the biscuit.

  • @72david72lp

    lol..that would be impossible.

  • ORGASMO... acabei de ter um.

  • I have jacked off to this so many times!!

  • What kind of people you have to be to dislike this, I wonder.

  • IT WOULD NOT BE STEVE WITHOUT THE FACHAEL MOVES

  • Is Mike Mangini on drums?

  • Mmmmmm Yummy!

  • If this guitar was auctioned i would pay extra $50,000 because of his drool on the strings.

  • Steve Vai please go fuck yourself. I mean, seriously, YOU DID HARMONICS WITH YOUR TONGUE!? I BARELY CAN DO IT WITH MY HANDS!!! That's some... i can't explain... It's THE SONG.

  • please somebody tell me how to do at 1:49 ??

  • @ugie88 ok I think I know what hes doing but this is a wild guess. I think he is just pulling that string all the way down off of the fretboard.

  • @ugie88 i think he's bending the strings

  • @ugie88 be steve vai

  • this is Fucking awesome

  • That descending lick at 2 58 is the shit!

  • Is he shaking his hand out at 4:41 because of cramps???

  • @johnay3ch probably the reason why

  • When was this recorded?

  • that is a true master

  • he really does has some strange looking expressions on 0:46 too

  • the electric guitar seems so easy to play on his hands.. o.O I feel that i can do what I want !!!!!

  • 3:32 Nom Nom Nom...

  • Sight-read this, bitch

  • jajaja digo maestro de maestros¡¡¡ XDD

  • mestro¡¡¡

  • I LOVE that conductor rocking on this tune in the beginning. He's headbanging a little while swinging his stick! hahaha

  • @DrummerRF He's got the attitude :D!

  • Thats steve. makin the whole orchestra grove in 7/16

  • @stratguy123456 hahah 7/16 reggae

  • THAT WAS INSAAAAANE!!!!! O_o ...I'm gonna throw my guitars in the trash bin right away!! :-s

  • I love how hes playing this intricate intro, and he has the talent to quickly shove his tie like thing away from his guitar and keep playing without messing up. and its like it never happened.

  • new religion... vai-ism

  • Hey men, Do you know who is the drummer?

  • hot damn son!!

  • goof the one leading the orchestra didn't. cuz i think he's not used to that kind of music :D

  • thumbs up for vai's facial expressions :)

  • @nappmeister i laugh everytime!

  • i ment G 3

  • are kitara cu maner

  • One of the best performances ever...no need to say more.

  • he's a great guitar player and knows therory and everything,,,,but the stuff he puts out at least to me,,,,,is mostly stuff i dontt want to listen to,,,,,,anybody on here talking shit about steve vail,,,,,,,was either dropped on there head,,,or knows nothing about guitar playing,,,i mean he went to Berkley,,,,,its te top music school there is,,,my first 4 years of playing i took lessons from a berkley Grad,,,,,,,and,,,i am so lucky to ave done so and to me i still count him as the best

  • the best of all

  • Finally something form Flex-Able live!

  • I just shit myself

  • @blackswanxxx - yep. it was the brown note.

  • can't watch steve vai videos without getting my guitar and playing along =D he makes me even more addicted to guitar playing than i allready am ^^

  • i love the sound he uses its so awesome!

  • I heard what you were talking about at the 1:50 mark. The sound is a combination of him stretching his striings to pull a quick high note, and the trumpets match him precisely on the same note. Briilliant exicution!

  • Mr Vai is not of this earth...and btw i know thats the name of a satriani song but it applies to steve..The things he can do with the guitar are astonishing

  • 3:34, Steve's like, Om nom nom STRINGS :D

  • i love this song, especially the tasty ass pentatonic/ bluesy lick that i never hear Vai at 2:18 - 2:26.

  • Comment removed

  • Not trying to hate, but most of Vai's stuff isn't something I'd like to listen to. It's great for show and to see in concert, but I am a much bigger fan of Marty Friedman and my man Jason Becker.

  • haha i like the guy that directs the orchestra. and old man jammin out to some amazing licks!

  • At 1:50 what is that high pitch thing he does? Ive listened to it over and over, and now ive watched it but ive never seen anything like it.

  • @musician445 He pulls the string off the fretboard so its lying on the pickup when he hits the note ... makes a highpitch almost harmonic sound ..

  • I think this version with the orchestra is even better than the original! I love how the orchestra just follows right along with Vai's guitar parts.

  • 3:35 HOLY FUKIN SHIT!!

  • Holy crap.

    He licked the Guitar.

    That turned me on.

  • Can someone help me scrape my brain off the back of my computer chair please?

  • anyone know who is the drummer? in my opinion is better than jeremy colson

  • This song is like 30 years old and still holds up. It blew my mind as a kid.

  • Was he just... Eliciting pinch harmonics... With his TOUNGE??? Thats not fair...

  • did he rly use his toung on the solo *uniral mouth*

  • Guitar player of the century ...

  • @beeblebronx he been around for two centuries

  • Best guitarist on Earth

  • This song is SO rightfully named, that first riff has some ballsy attitude.

  • 3:20 crazy and good

  • H0ly $hit F#ck.........jaw to the ground

  • Steve vai Simplismento o melhor

  • Hahahaha like O.o

  • ...and that was the half time marching band version of Mr. Vai's Attitude Song respectively...and it is a beautiful day for a football game today, isn't Dan?

  • what scale does he predominantly use?

  • Lydian

  • @Dmacattack93 REALLY HE USE LIYDIAN MODE ALOT?

  • @AmadeusStatisitician SORRY DONT KNOW MUCH ABOUT THIS STUFF. MOSTLY LISTEN TO CLASSICAL MUSIC., BUT I LIKE THE SPEED GUITAR STUFF ALOT FOR SOME REASON. ITS AWESOME AND COLORFUL.

  • @sonofabitchybitch The awesome scale.

  • @sonofabitchybitch he uses mixolydian quite a bit sometimes to. ie. juice and i think answers is to. he uses lots of scales :)

  • That was F...in' CRAZY!!! WOW!

  • So cool to see him do it live!

One thing: if you liked this get the CD which is live as well, because the sound is crystal clear (this here is mono if I mistake not). And the interplay between orchestra and soloist is very imaginative, you can hear it much more clearly there.

  • Frank would probably say, "hmmm....you passed the audition" lol.

  • incredible!

  • HOLY... I think he just redefined the term "guitar lick" haha... WOW!

  • actually zappa was against rock acts playing with symphony orchestras. though he may make an exception in this case

  • that was intense!

  • Was Licking the pickup?

such if he is mad hahahah

    five stars

  • I love the riff at 2:39.

  • very well done steve. very zappa-like. I agree with ognibandyrrah : frank would be smiling. XD

  • Frank will be smiling at this... the boy done good...

  • bad ass. that was really cool

  • AMAZING PERFORMANCE!

  • So. Fucking. Awesome.....

  • Don't know about anyone else but this performance really reminds me of what Frank Zappa used to get up to. Guess all those years playing with him weren't wasted on Mr Vai :-)

  • crazy piece of music, if thats what you call it

  • Haha even the orchestra's leaderis headbanging XD

  • Just amazing the way Vai rocks but just as impressive how the orchestra is going. The Metropole is just the best pop orchestra there is, they played with so many great names and they are always spot on.

  • greatest guitarist going... not many musicians let alone guitarists can blend shredding with an orchestra

  • vai is always wearing these epic sexy shirts :O

  • i remember gettin Flex-Able around 84 or so, and to this day The Attitude song is just as bad ass now as it was then... can hear the Zappa in his playing, his best work imo

  • Who would've thought a track like this would work with a full orchestra? Steve's a bit of a genius!!

  • Comment removed

  • @ewhguitarist Just a bit? He's a genius to the power of rock.

  • @ewhguitarist I guess it kinda rubs off on you when you played with Zappa. Look at mike Keneally as well.

  • the part where he switches hands is awesome!

    lmao, and toungue-picking, that's a new one!

  • crazy mutherfucker, holy

  • this is great,,,this shows you how good he is up there and sounding perfect and nailing the solos

  • Now this was pretty cool! Who'da thunk an orchestra would cound cool behind this. Imagine the tuba player saying, "Yeah, tonight I'm gonna play The Attitude Song with Steve Vai"

    Ha Ha Ha

  • Vai rocks! but this? like a bunch of dogs on a meatball..

  • Those solos smoke. Nailing shit like this live is genius.

  • I love how even the meastro can't stand completely still and is jiggling a little :D

  • NICE...one of my favs from mr.vai

  • Yeah!

  • haha. . holy Vai. .

  • holy hell

  • lol the conductor knows how to rock!

  • the HEY!!! at 1:27 is fantastic :DD

  • I have NEVER heard of this guy until now. I only stumbled across him simply because of an English paper about attitude and OMG I AM SO GLAD I DID. This has to be the most intense, original and awesome song I've heard. I really like how pulls together rock instruments with winds and strings simply amazing!

  • sounds like you need some zappa and captain beefheart too

  • this song sounds like it was made for an orchestra any way

  • what jem is that?

  • JEM7DBK

  • At about 4:45 it turns into something magical that made the hair on my legs stand up and blood shoot out my eyes.

    Badass.

  • Thank you Steve.

  • ya it is! its like a mini terry bozzios.

  • Awesome! Steve Vai can express what he wants to mean of what he's feeling with he's guitar without problem ;D

One of the best after hendrix, clapton, SRV,van halen, jimmy page, etc...

  • Why do so many people dis on all these great musicians? Where's the respect? Zappa, Vai, Satch, DiMeola, Clapton, Timmons and on and on. They're all great musicians!! Some of you guys leaving lame comments about who's better are probably really good, too. Who cares who's better? You and the other knuckle head arguing with you. That's about it. Drop it, and show some love. DANG!!!!

  • What the hell? Go fuck yourself!

  • @rhythmakr well said!

  • @rhythmakr finnaly someone gets it evryone on youtube should follow youre example
