  • Thanks Was wondering whether to pour the liquid on clothes!!

  • @SamiaB2009 - I'm guessing you were joking but I read a review that someone thought the top where you squirt the gel was just a top and squirted the gel directly on the clothes. LOL

  • @Steve10578 No seriously was standing wondering what to do with the cap cos I thought it would disintegrate in the wash and than what to do for the next wash??? Ok not really....

  • @SamiaB2009 You can pour the gel right on the clothes, just don't leave it on them too long.

  • @classic30612 Ja, eine Classic 39746.

  • I am surprised Alexander doesn't turn his jeans inside-out as I do, nor does he close his zippers! Both are "no-no's". I can easily wash 5 pairs of jeans and 5 rugby shirts in my Samsung, not overloaded either. I use about 45ml cap of Persil Color gel-that is all!

  • @JSneaker I sometimes turn jeans inside-out and close zippers - sometimes I don't. Either way, nothing has ever been damaged. As far as capacity is concerned, keep in mind that the drum on your Samsung is twice as large. For this load, I used 33 ml gel - as per instructions on the bottle. The final rinse water was totally clear.

  • When im older im never going to get a front loader i think the old washing machines clean better

  • @TheErrosennin You are absolutely correct! While I do LIKE my Samsung, I miss my old Kenmore top-loader so badly! The new machine takes more than one hour, to account for balancing the spinning!!! My undies don't come out nicely either! LOL Sadly though, newer regular agitator top-loaders are not the same any longer-they now SUCK!

  • Does anyone know if this product is available in the US or can I have this shipped to the US if I buy it online?

  • @vantilburg101 You can order it from britsuperstore . com

  • @Loreality: Oh great! Thanks so much!

  • @Loreality I use mexican ariel powder and its fantastic!!!!!

  • @Chris242tt OOH? Since when does Mexican Ariel have a "HE version"? That is easily obtainable here, in many stores(yes, Screw York!), but the stuff is ULTRA-HIGH SUDS!

  • @JSneaker it has PHOSPHATES!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • @Chris242tt OOOHHH CHRIS!!! How do you know I love phosphates??? Do we know each-other? You got me going here...

  • @JSneaker phosphates never should have been taken out of detergents, you can add your own with something called sttp.

  • @Chris242tt It is "STPP" Sodium Tripolyphosphate. It's in my Colgate toothpaste, too! I have phosphate detergents here still-a LOT of it-Ultra Fab from 1994 and Amway SA8 Plus from 1998. I have to add Spray-n-Wash enzyme booster to the Amway as it has none. Of course I agree that compound should never have been removed from laundry and dishwasher detergents. Oh, by the way, where can I buy STPP? We have soft water here, but phosphates help anyway as they always did!

  • @JSneaker Do phosphates make detergents rinse better? The modern detergents are a bugger to rinse. I still haven't found one that rinses clean yet not even the Amway SA8 liquid since they changed it.

  • @1pifco The Amway SA8 Legacy of Clean powder rinses out extremely easily! I just won't use it on colors as it has optical brighteners. The liquid is never as good as the powder has ever been! And, yes, phosphates do help detergent rinse better. They suspend the hardness minerals and dirt in the water, and don't let them sink to the bottom as carbonates do. This is called a "non-precipitating" water softener.

  • @Chris242tt And, Chris, how do you know the German Ariel still has phosphates? My Persil gels have "phosphonates".

  • umm... thats much too much gel for that tiny load!!!

  • @oniejj YES, it is too much!

  • I haven't seen gel detergents in the USA. I wonder how well they work. The closest we had to gels were double concentrated Wisk, All, & Surf (not available in liquid anymore in the USA) in the 90's. Lever Brothers stopped selling it due to people complaining it was too thick for pre-treating. Proctor & Gamble USA has yet to make gel detergents, but they haven't made a true low sudsing liquid detergent.

  • Well, our Germany consumers magazine didn't like it at all. They said it cleans no better than other liquid detergents - it's just more expensive. It was tested on a 68°F cycle and left most stains behind.

  • @davenwin1973 We have All & Hammer power gel detergent now.

  • @DudeDie222 I recently tried Arm & Hammer gel, and I find it doesn't dissolve as well. I find it thicker than the original double concetrated All & Wisk from the 90's. So once I use it up, that'll be the last time I use it. For now, I'll be dissolving it in hot water before I add it to my wash.

  • @davenwin1973 Hey Dave, Alexander has my Persil Color Gel(exact bottle). I have the Universal Gel also, and both are the BEST liquids/gel I ever used!!! It is rather expensive(19.99/1.5L bottles), but for my wash it's worth splashing-out on. I get mine either at Gracious Home in NYC or at Riverhead Vauumc & Sewing Center. Wisk 3X & all 3X "Small and Mighty" are still made-I have the Wisk. They make virtually no suds, as does the Persil. P&G HE Lliquids-too many! Try Seventh Gen Powder!!!

  • Is this gel worth getting then or shall i get daz or something else? what is the best anyways?

  • it smell's nice anyway

  • Agreed - but it didn't clean my clothes as promised :-/

  • ARIEL really messed up my jeans... i donno what you were thinking.. LOL

  • It got sudsy - quite sudsy as the gel dispersed with the water. Ariel Excel Gel gets sudsy in my washmaschine so it's doing the same in yours. How sudsy did the main wash get? Probably very sudsy indeed.

  • I think this was a sudsy as it got. Besides when washing curtains or pillows, we rarely ever get suds in our washer.

  • It looked like it was going to get very sudsy indeed but if it didn't get any sudsyer than it did then that's OK. Had it been on a hot wash then it would have got sudsyer.

  • Only time I use hot water and liquid detergent I when washing coloured bedding. Otherwise, I use powder for my 60°C washed - currently Ariel Professional Bio.

  • I love Ariel Professional - we get it in bulk from Makro :)

  • why the obsession with suds? Too many suds knacker up your washing machine

  • @sorcerer101567 Exactly! Suds aren't proof a detergent is working properly! I have Seventh Generation Natural Powder Detergent, and Miele Ultra Color Powder. Both make very few if any suds, and rinse-out easily. I also love my Persil Gels-Color(blue) and Universal(green) they make no suds. All but the "7thG"(barely a scent) smell great, too!

  • ariel products always get quite sudsy i think :)

  • Do they? That's good because my Ariel Excel Gel gets sudsy in my Hotpoint WD420 washmaschine.

  • Do Ariel products get sudsy in ur washmaschine? Different detergents get sudsy in different washmaschines - that is what I think anyway.

  • Is that an AEG btw, or a Zanussi? I have an AEG :)

  • You know, I'm not even sure! It says "privileg" on the panel and you can get the same machine from John Lewis in the UK - guess it's all Electrolux in the end. It's not an original AEG, though.

  • the drum is a zanussi drum i think :)

  • Another gimmick detergent it seems. Yes, it may clean at 15c. How many washing machines have a 15c temp selection. Mine only goes as low as 30c. I'll wash lightly soiled coloured laundry at 30c, but whites, towels and bedding still get a 60c wash to help remove dust mites and kill bacteria.

  • So this excel gel doesn't dispense very good then?

  • No, it may just be a little too thick. Have read other consumers made the same experience.
