Oh my God! I forgot that Victor and Hugo were in the same universe as Duckula! Cool. But little self references like Hugo being able to 'do his voice you know', as well as the obvious Princess Di anthropomorphic bird and the campy prison guard. no kid is going to get references like that. Thats what I love about the cartoons from back in my day, they always had one eye on the adult audiance meaning you can watch them again and still see something new you didnt see at the time.
@Granitoons Yeah...the cosgrove hall boys were really following in the classic british alternative comic tradition of Monty Python and the Goons (as evidenced by David Jasons Hugo/bluebottle voice) but they always added their own spin. Really its almost as criminal as one of Victors brilliant schemes that this series doesn't seem to get as much recognition as others, which is a shame because they have really got the humour down pat here, where as on Duckula it could be hit and miss at times.
Indeed, he does. No doubt Bluebottle provided a fiar bit of inspiration to Cosgrove-Hall with how to get Hugo, while they chose a more conniving personality for Victor.
On a side-note: David Jason does a pretty good impersonation of Bluebottle.
"You are pulling at the wine-do win-der".. HA HA HA... Victor and Hugo were the best. I'd love to see them repeated, just like Dangermouse is being repeated
I used to love this, my mum loved it too because it reminded her of The Goons. I'm guessing the characters were actually based on Moriarty and Bluebottle.
i have been looking for victor and hugo for ages....its so good to see it finally up. I havnt seen this for around 10 years....its the best show it was so funny
Yeah I knew that, Duckula was my favourite out of all Cosgrove shows
I remember there was an episode where Duckula appeared in Victor & Hugo, would love to see that episode and the one with Dangermouse when they get hired by Baron Greenback
Interpoll on this is the only one on this with any brains.

@BelatedCommiseration The campy gaurd and the softy convict idea is hilarious! Like the prison is more of a badly-run nursery for 'naughty boys' :)

David Jason sounds like he's impersonating Bluebottle from the Goon Show.

Funny seeing this now I am grown up. The funny thing about this clip is when Hugo says 'i can do he voice, you know' referring to Count Duckula.
David Jason actually did the voice for both.
Surprisingly he was the guy played Inspector Frost from A Touch of Frost.

In the very beginning, it looked and sounded like Hugo was doing something very nasty in the van...

"Aw why not, I can do his voice you know"
Good reference to another great Cosgrove Hall show with David Jason in.
