  • good video

i think they also need to genuinely look at reports of people being mean and rude and take appropriate action (trust me, i've reported users for very mean and offensive video and comments and google doesn't do shit) and they need to more actively fight the spammers

  • With the annotations and the pause you can now censor your vids, just pause video at start and describe what is on the video, then choice 1.play or 2.link to vid they would like.

I have done this to a few videos.

  • This is a really good set of rules.

You tube needs a new design too

Goto ARMOROID5000 and see YOU TUBE-Upgrade for 2009.

  • Not only is this going to be in my favorites, it's going to be in my playlist reserved for the extremely awesome. These suggestions should be implemented immediately by YouTube. Not only would it appease almost everyone (except flag/rate bots), it might bring back some lost traffic.

  • sounds reasonable to me so far. off to part two

  • Google already has a safe-search algorithm, and they already use it on Google Video. It works great, filters out 99.8% of the nasty content, and you can easily turn it off. What's wrong with that? Why don't they just use that?

  • That's an idea. And I did say that, if you have any idea better than mine, make a video about THAT.

  • I like your ideas. I think I'm mostly just shocked that they aren't doing what they already know works for Google.

  • i.e., the question wasn't really to you... it's just what I'm thinking... what I want to ask YouTube.

  • I should make a video.

  • I've got to say. The warning thing is a great idea.

  • I completely agree with the point about being able to turn the adult check on and would love to make it so that I can type my own warning such as "Warning: This vid will offend the religious" or "Warning: PETA members will be offended by this".

  • #5, youtube cant just not follow the DMCA, if they do then they will have major copyright liabilities. Even if its abused to a ridiculous degree, the solution is changing the law not the policies of some website.

  • There are times when the flag button IS necessary, and not just being used as a campaign against the user. I'm not for completely disabling the feature, but it does need to be addressed.

  • There is a TON of technical improvements to youtube, starting with the fact that the end of your video got cut off, a recent effect!

I have written to youtube many times and gotten a poor response most of the time. [I did suggest character counting, and they implemented it, though I don't know if it was from my suggestion or not - it would be nice to know but their feedback is poor.] So the biggest change needed better feedback response.

  • At first i thought the last one about not being able to flag or file a DMCA was too much. But, as long as YouTube included it in their contract it would be perfectly fine. For people you made an account prior to that policy wouldn't have agreed to that in their contract with YouTube. Is that correct, or would it not matter when they made their account?

  • Nevermind what i said. I just re-read the terms of use.

  • I don't think I would block spammers. I like #3 a lot.
