  • Sounds exactly the same as our New Flyer buses we have here in Connecticut. But our ACs are in the rear.

  • @JamesLewis1000 Sounds like the ones here in Philly too.

  • @DeltaPhi79 Nice

  • My county's Transit system has retired all 1996 D40LFs and 1997 D30LFs and never replace them with new ones. Now we only use a few 1997 D35LFs and Gilligs. PSTA is really making me mad. ):

  • Please excuse my bad wording in that last comment.

  • I love way these buses sound. It's the coolest sound that a vehical can make.

  • I love how this bus sounds!

  • Is the Allison B400R is a Better transmission then the Voith D863 transmission? Bc transit's flyer buses all have the Voith D863 with the same engine in Victoria!

  • I lovee these buses... second to the old D40s :P Sometimes, i wonder if it's the design that makes some buses of this model have the weird whistling noise. All the newer buses in Vancouver (all the ones with the restyled ends) have reallly sucky brakes that squeak soo loud even though they are new.

  • i hate this bus so much...i take the 410 everyday to work and the sound just makes me sick! why douesnt richmond have the new buses? :/

  • yes i just love the sound of the new flyer buses it kinda sounds like a plane no other bus sounds the same

  • This seems to be the most popular bus in Victoria, BC. I seldomly see the Trident or Dennis double-deckers, but this D40LF is an okay bus, but not alot of room really.

  • Man this sounds just like the 1994 D40LF's from MARTA before they were retired in 2004. Luckily 6 of them were sold to Gwinnett County Transit which is in the northeastern suburbs from Atlanta. Also they were ZF's instead of B400R's

  • Seriously? MARTA dropped a 10 year old bus? Dayum! And here i thought Cleveland was bad with retire'in young buses. Does Gwinnett County Transit still rolls them?

  • I believe they still do, because I used see them on the GCT Route # 20 all the time last year, and they still run pretty good too

  • Sometime in early November I will check to see if they are still running to get you an update

  • You think MARTA will take possession of the New Flyer and Orion buses C-Tran has once they cease operation also, do you have pictures of the Gwinnett New Flyers. I only see the Orion or NABI buses when I'm up there.

  • Yes I believe that more than likely MARTA will be taking over C-Tran's C40LFs and VIIs. As for the Gwinnett Transit they ordered some MCI D4500CTs for the express routes and just the Orion VIIs and NABIs on the local routes. The GCT D40LFs I would have to buy a camera and then show you pictures of how they look

  • im guessing this was on the 410

  • Tight sounding bus.

  • Do you have more 1995 d40lf clips? Can you make more?

  • What camcorder did you use to film this? The quality is perfect all around!!!

  • It's not even a camcorder at all! I use a Canon G9 for all my videos, recorded at HD mode (1024x768 )!

  • 1:09 Love the start-up!

  • I sometimes ride on the R7109 on the route 403 going to work

  • sound like 1999 gillig phantoms

  • i love the older D40LFs manufactured in the 90s. Those have the best sounding planetary gears...especially when in 2nd gear. nice vid

  • the inside of this bus looks just like the ones here in philly

  • Here in Vegas we have those Newflyer D40LF's with the same exact Detroit Diesel Series 50 engine.Ours sound exactly like this one.We had the Newflyer D40HFs but they recently retired them and sold em off. They were horrible buses here.Good work budd.

  • Those D40HFs Started to mess up badly after they got repowered. They Retired May 19 2008. My last one was 480.

  • how did they mess up?

  • they were horrible especially when they were repowered; mounds of thick black smoke came out of the exhaust pipe on some of them.

  • I love this vid!

  • Sounds much better than the D40LFs we have in JFK!

  • nice looking bus

  • This is the best sound I ever heard from a D40LF.

  • same kind of buses down in Disney World FL, they have 3 different kinds down there, my favorite are the 2 newer ones

  • they got to have those bus in grand rapids michigan and replace the gillig phantans

  • These buses are cool and popular in the city of vancouver i loved riding these buses these buses mite be converted to cumins thats what Coast mountain bus company says but i'm sure its true nice video

  • um, what engine and tranny is that?

  • Same thing as on some of your own CAT videos: Series 50/Allison

  • oh...that one sounds a bit different from our buses...so thats why i asked..

  • When they turn on the A/C on the new flyers D40LF's here in Vegas, they sound different than the buses 619, 648 and 653.

  • 625, as well.

  • they sound more different on the NABIs..

  • Actually, they sound similar to the NABI's.

  • 619, 625, 648, and 653?

  • CORRECT!!!

  • ill hafta check those 4 out then

  • Listen hard for the A/C, same octave as the NABI's.

  • i can hear the NABIs easier than the NFs..

  • It is VERY loud in MTA C40s and D60s though...

  • avoid 628...

  • ditto

  • oh so you have been on it recently?

  • Yeah 628 was on route 204 too many times.

  • did you see its cleanliness? compared to 627?

  • Yeah, it was attrocious. So anyway, you think you can try to get 653 up here on youtube?

  • ill try me best :)

  • Yay^^

  • Or any one of my four golden buses.

  • D40LF's that's the same ones that SEPTA's using currently.

  • New Flyer LFs and MAN axles, hard to beat the sound of that combo.

  • I second that, although it would get another edge here, IMO, if it had the Voith transmission.
