  • Yes, for example Eb is the same as D#. In tabs the use "Gb" rather than "F#", don't know why

  • My band plays in F# look up Ghost Town - Adiaphora

  • @deadloque Uses the tuning way better than this shit. Hahaha we use 74 gauge strings so don't worry

  • is it possible to get that tuning on 25.5 scale 6 string..with a 65 gauge??

    sorry for my english

  • @LoBoExtreme yes it is get a set of 'Cleartone's 13-65'

  • G# is Ab and F# is Gb!

  • Considering that Nile use a .070 for their A string, you may want to put a 090 or 095 on for the F#/Gb string.

  • pft.. I've had my six string in double drop B. It plays in drop G with no problems.

  • You should have just responded "Your band should break up."

  • You're wearing a Disturbed shirt. Your argument is invalid.

  • Deftones uses this tuning on a 7 string, just saying. And they use Marshall amps. And they use this guitar...

  • Uhh.. yeah, just tell him not to get that guitar. lol

For that tuning, he needs an 8 string. Schecter makes one for $350 that he could try out for kicks.

  • i clame bullshit if this "STEW" guy plays drop g flat, thats ment for 8-9 string partydrugcore bands like dr acula and emmure.

  • your wearing a disturbed so i already knew this videon was going to blow

  • He's playing in Gb everybody! fuck man why is everyone debating about this??

  • Gb is the same as F#, based on sound. They are written differently, however.

  • Isn't Gb = F#??? Hehe:D

  • Use fatter strings, use an other amp, adjust your guitar, .. Come again.

  • whats the guitar model?

  • @mattwildchild esp ltd sc 607 b

  • ohhh i just realized thats ltd....prob not the extended neck....yeah i dunno now haha you need 26.5-30 inch scale for that low of a tuning imo

  • i could be wrong but isnt that the tuning that deftones uses on there self titled album? and thats his signature guitar lol so in theory it should work fine. deff thicker strings tho.

  • it'll sound a lot less shitty if you get a bigger low string. i rock a .68 on my low string and play mainly in drop g# and it works out perfectly. just a suggestion.

  • ok so that band sucks in advance ... dude drop c or b isnt heavy enough ?? cmon i dont get the shit out of all that .. my band plays in c# and we play like parkway drive shit and stuff i don't miss any shit i can understand drop c and b also maybe a for some people but cmon g flat ?? why man ... just trying to be special ?

  • @LittlePupp3t nothing is wrong with g flat? it can depend on style as well. i play in drop e....

  • @swiggar97 Exactly. People don't understand that just because you play in a low tuning doesn't mean the music you make isn't awesome or passionate.

  • YES, d'adarrio strings are the best

  • you really need a bigger amp and surely no marshall fo low tunings like that you need about a 150 watt amp to reach the frequence

  • ha .065 is ok for a low G#... floppy strings=epic fail

  • Use elixer lol

  • Isnt gb basically f#????

  • @musicguitarlessons It is but there's different names etc

  • @musicguitarlessons It's the same thing

  • @musicguitarlessons yep. that's what's called an enharmonic.

  • @BaronGhede so is drop Bb the same like a# ?

  • @stringslayer97 yes.

  • @musicguitarlessons You can say either lol

  • @musicguitarlessons Well yeah but calling it G flat is allowed

  • @musicguitarlessons It's not basically, it is. They are enharmonic equivalents

  • @musicguitarlessons whats your point?

  • @musicguitarlessons

Guess it just depends how you wanna say it. Some people call E flat "D sharp". D flat is also known as C sharp. I know the symbols, I'm just spelling them out.

  • @musicguitarlessons gb is f#

  • @musicguitarlessons you say something is sharp if youve raised that note by a semitone, so if you drop something by a semitone you call it a flat. but yes theyre the same

  • @musicguitarlessons Correct :) but saying that it's Gb makes it sound like it's tuned lower :P

  • @musicguitarlessons No. It is the same note. But, it will vary depending on the key you play in. Check your Circle of Fourths/Fifths tattoo.

  • @musicguitarlessons Somebody with your username should really know the answer to that.

  • @musicguitarlessons Naw dude, they're different

  • @musicguitarlessons while using tempered tuning your statement is true (eg guitar or piano), in fact there is a difference between gb and f# - for instance, the f# in a d major chord is slightly higher than the gb in a gbm major, because the major third of the d major "pulls" it "upwards" - and also all the notes depend on musical environment too. a good violinist or cello player (or even a singer) can hear and play the difference.

  • @musicguitarlessons They're enharmonic.

  • I have tuned my .56's down to G#

  • @bloodfang100 that has to be looser then vagina

  • Metal sucks. And Gb sucks even worse.

  • @RFGTP cool go back to listening to beiber, troll

  • @RFGTP fucking fail troll, go watch some Disney channel bitch

  • Do I see Coal Chamber in the bg!? FUCK YES \m/

  • Hahahaha. Gb is F#..... just get an 8-string... but chances are, that dude will not use the top 6 strings.... so get a 2 string with and F# and a B......

  • sounds like shit.

  • 7's are perfect for standard (B) or drop A... anything lower and it starts suckin... I have an 8-string and its beast. (Its made to a larger scale so lower notes are audible..... ) Too much gain will crush your spirits for extended range guitars.... the trick is a High Gain amp but with the Gain up only about 20-25%, an Ibanez Tube Screamer in front and an EQ giving you a mid boost.... No Boss Metal Zones neither... if you have one... give it to some high school kid who wants to chug...

  • Sounds awful, marshalls are horrendous for low tunings, go get an ENGL or something.

  • @Ozterkvlt

Just out of curiosity, how would Line 6 hold up? Im just in drop A but I was just wondering.

  • @blacklegionairsoft1

Line 6? LOL. I hope you're joking, unless you mean the toneport (POD farm). Don't tell me it's a spider. If you want a tight sound for low tunings, just get a toneport ux1 or something and POD farm. And bareknuckle cold sweats.

  • @Ozterkvlt

Haha. Good thing I checked first before I blew all that money on nothing.

  • @Ozterkvlt ffs...

  • @Ozterkvlt its not the marshall its the fact that any guitar would sound terrible any lower than a i refuse to go lower than a# cuz than any guitar sounds shitty

  • @Ozterkvlt That belongs on string gauge and guitar and at least the pickups and the speakers.

  • @Ozterkvlt 5150 or 6505, they're the same thing, but either is perfect.

  • @DrewA1195 more like the Dual Rectifier...

  • @Itachifan186 Either or is amazing. I own a 5150 head and it sounds perfect with low tunings. It's all in the tubes you put in it, mayne.

  • @DrewA1195 I just find that the 5150/6505 is too bland on the clean channel and sometimes can sound fizzy on the distortion channel when getting into lower tuning. I've always found it the Dual Recto to give a good full tone. But, I'd be interested in hearing a 5150 with some EL34s...

  • @Ozterkvlt Yeah sure... And that's why Stef Carpenter plays only Marshalls...

  • horrid tone x.x

  • Your kinda not good

  • What do you think your trying to do here?!?!?, you can't help people when you, yourself have minimal guitar experience....obviously

  • it depends on the scale lenght. if its a 25.5 use without fear 0.70 gauge strings. i use that in B standard. but if you use like a 26.5 or 27 scale you can use lighter strings.

  • Here's an idea: if you want to play something that "low" just play bass.

  • @xxfrozen correction I'm using a .070 not a .060 for the G Flat perhaps that's why I get no slopp in the string at all,lol.

  • @xxfrozen I love lower tunings F# (G flat same thing) is brutal. I had the same guitar as you but could never get used to the obnoxious setup to where the pickups are right next to each other so I just removed the neck pickup. I'm now using the sane tuning through a Schecter Loomis but still I do love your guitar. Moved up to a 0.064 for the G Flat string sounds brutal. Cool vid.;)

  • I've got the same guitar in g# standard. I run it through a pod and it sounds great. The guitar can go lower but I can't tell the difference between notes on a bass below g# and I think the whole guitar and bass in the same octave defeats the purpose of low tunings unless you want to be a straight up Meshuggah rip off

  • Demonstrated in drop-fuckyourguitarup

  • Demostrated in drop-fuckyourguitarup

  • U play this guitar like a basic rocker. Fast chugg gallops and tremelo picking are more to it's liking related to the tuning of F#. Meshuggah wants to kill you, for bringing them into your video.

  • u guys are crazy using heavy ass strings. 56 to 59 are perfect for g. dino from fear factory uses 52s for A and his tone owns. your rig needs more mids. badass guitar though.

  • Hey man!! Thank you for the video... Can you tell me, i wan't to buy this guitar, to play in G-D-G-C-F-A-G tuning! Dropped G i think (Also i want Dropped F). 15-70 strings would be nice? Or 16-72?

  • @giannisnx5 i use 70-15 for g# and depending on how you play i would most likely say at least 72 for the bottom

  • @joshmerklin Mother of god 15?!?!

  • @giannisnx5 holy shit dude, dont go that thick on the high end. go to like 13, but if you like heavy strings, 70 is good. i like my strings fat and im running a 70-13 on my Dean thats in drop A.

  • im using the same tunning but on a 6 string guitar, using the .56 -11 string package, but changed the .56 to a .58, this setting is perfect if you like having strings a litle loose for the bendings and all that stuff without loosing to much tone in the lowest string specially.

  • ... or alternatively, leave notes below A to the bass player...

  • @prog2djent Gb is F#. When you go down in scale you are to use flats, and when you go up in scales you are to use sharps. C# Standard is Db Standard, D# Standard is Eb Standard and so forth. Also the only an Fb can never exist, because there is no such thing as it's E. Just like you'll never see E# in music, because that is F. The only confusing thing most people will see are double flats and double sharps i.e. F## really sounds a G; another example is Ebb really sounds a D. :) Ah music theory!

  • why dont you just buy an 8 string?

  • Comment removed

  • @prog2djent it's a marshall jcm2000 and yea i guess you'd be right =P i wish I had more time to play

  • @prog2djent F flat does exist, it's called E :D

  • @prog2djent F flat exists. It's a note. It's just normally called E. It's something called an enharmonic.

If you're reading music off a score, then you can only have one note of each letter in the scale at once. So if you're playing in a key that has an Eb AND an E, then that E would be called an Fb.

  • you looke just like steve -O

anyway i hear that staind uses a tuning similar

[ Ab Db ] Ab Db Gb Bb and [ Eb ] if you use a 7 string

i think you should demo that tuning

  • dude id destroy you on the fret board man, seriously,,just being able to tune properly is being better than you,,,lol

  • isnt Gb the same as F# (or a standard tuned 8 strings lowest string)? because i was tought that theres no flats, only regular notes and sharps

  • @deathcore1239 There are flats and sharps. Yes, an F# and a Gb are the same thing, but the names are used in different context. When tuning down a half step from E, for example, you would probably refer to it as Eb, not D#, even though they are the same note.

  • @Justice4AllOne ooooooooo thanks, that actually helped a lot :)

  • are u sure you can play,,lmfao,,like pretty amaturish,

  • @corybiro

id like to see how u play

  • wow,,thats hurting man,

  • good vid man. but i honestly think that guitars shouldnt be tuned lower than drop A. like you said man. it just doesnt sound right when the open notes are hit. and i dont think its the string. thats probably the way it really sounds. in my opinion its just not meant to be tuned that low

  • Hey do u know how far u can drop a 6string

as I normally play in C just wondering? :)

  • @James57433 well it depends on the gauge of strings you use. the lowest ive seen a 6 string guitar go is drop G but the strings are masssivveee

  • @James57433 I would say anything beyond drop A and you should probably look at a seven or eight string guitar

  • get 70 gauges it stays in tune MUCH better than 65's

  • That is WWAAAYYY too low for a guitar. Might as well be playing a bass. Drop A is what i play in and that is low enough/

  • @VonHendrixTV dude you gotta play an 8 string. standard f tuning plus 2 low strings

  • @VonHendrixTV haha, talking about too low... some bands are using double drop E now :0

  • asshat

  • Thats an amazing guitar man, you know I've always used really really low tunnings and I just don't like this one just because of the fact that once you play it open It goes out of wack. I think drop A is the lowest you can go without sounding like crap.

But pretty badass vids bro :)

  • I have the original sc-607 and its better then the sc-607b. My opinion.

  • Hey man I've got a cool tune called "New Rise of The Footsoldier" and I do a 5 finger tapped riff, which uses a wah and pitch shifter and a 7 string guitar (Ibanez Universe) Check it out on my youtube page. Thank you, Chris

  • Listenin` to this .. I have miss my G drop very much; :>

  • i use 13-56 on b and c tunings, so maybe just add a 60-62 for low Gb?

  • i had this guitar at one time before it was stolen from me. and i cause i use it just for fun to play deftones covers at home i tuned to a g/drop f tuning for there deftones albume. i wouldnt say you need a .65 that is a lil beefy, but i used a pack of 12's with a 62. seemed to work out fine for me. i did have to set it up tho. i got a lil buz from the string being to close to the frets tuning that low. but stephen carpenter does use .59 for his 7's so what ever hes doing works.

  • ugh ....... Gb,F# is stupid.....come on its sounds like rubber band

  • At that point, just play with a bass :) lol.jkjk

  • The guitar looks HUGE..haha. Sweet tone.

  • a Gb tuning is in F#

an 8 string guitar is in F#, get an 8 string stew...

  • u def need a .65 for F tunings but with my 7 string ibanez it didn't sound too bad

  • sounds like an intonation and string gauge problem

  • here is a cool tuning that i play my ibanez rg7321 in A#D#BEACF

    BEADGBE

  • The guy plays in gb for his band... What kinda freaking queero band would play that. I would see them just to heckle them the whole show.

  • hey dude i was wonderin if theres a way u can tune a 7 string to drop B tuning? if it possible could u tell me how?

  • @metal576 drop B is the standard tuning for a 7 string.

    EBGDAEB. there you go

  • actually you are wrong, 7 string standard is B standard, not drop B

  • @EazyBdestroys dude...i think you have written the string names in the wrong order! >_> it sould be BEADGBE.....you name them from the lowest to high-est not high-low [like you did! XD >_>] and the tuning's called B STANDART!

  • dont listen to easybdestroys, they dont know what they are talking about, if you want a 7 string in drop B then you take a standard tuned 7 string which is BEADGBE low to high. and you tune all except the low B up a whole step.

  • @metal576 are you fucking retarded?

  • @metal576

    It is possible...

    B,F#,B,E,A,C#,F#

But why would you want to tune a 7 string to Drop B anyways? Just curious

  • @MachineGunMessiah

for my band i jus wanted to kno cuz

i jus got one and i dont really wanna use

    power chords lolz

  • you need WAY thicker strings for Gb... I play in drop A and use 10-70

  • the steven carpenter guitar has a longer scale length, so its able to handle the tuning a lot better. and plus dude i think your using size tahts too big

  • I use exactly the same size strings as Whitechapel's guitarists. Any lighter and I get mad fret buzz. The SC is only a half inch longer than the scale of my C7 Hellraiser so it could use a little smaller strings.

  • maybe you need to adjust your action a bit. cuz it sounds like you have really high string tension or something

  • Yeah but I like low action and I think the sound of a .70 A string sounds beefy and fat as fuck. When I used a .60, it just seemed weak... I love it now, as long as it doesn't warp my neck lol

  • Also your best bet is to use the amps natrual distortion and fucking with the gain, turning the low dial all the way down as well as using a lot of treble and messing with your mids to your standards.. I usually keep mid to 8, bass on 10 and the same with treble. This guitar sounds amazing out of jsx, krank, mesa and marshall all with natrual amp distortion. Again NEVER USE METAL ZONE.

  • You turn your bass all the way to 10?

Damn, wouldn't that be too much?

Yeah, amp distortion is usually best & the Metal Zone is indeed horrid lol. Oh, check out the jekyll & hyde dist pedal. That's 1 dist pedal I've tried that is pretty good surprisingly.

  • Nah its not too much bass at all. Especially for a 7 string, it can definitely handle all the bass if your playing real heavy shit. As far as pedals, like I said I refuse to use any external device to pump distortion through my amp. Its all about amp distortion and dialing it in the right way. The clarity is much better and you can still get that heavy tone straight from the amp.

  • I have the sc-607. Got the guitar when stef first put it out and i've been absolutely crazy over it ever sicne. No offense to this dude but I wouldn't go by this to judge the guitar. It all depends on how YOU play and your fingers tone as well as your amp and strings. Xl strings are good but again depending on your tone there not the best strings to use for lower tunings. And ya please don't ever use a metal zone for distortion. Thats just ridiculous and your tone will be sucked of its life.

  • are those the stock pickups? i tryin to find a good sounding 7 string with a trem, and under $600, help me out?

  • Ibanez S7320, pretty good.

  • when ever you have the time, i was wondering if you could do drop a. the band im in is switching our style to heavier slower breakdown music like oceano and emmure, but as of now im the only one in the progress of getting a new 5 string bass for drop a and our guitar player still only has a 6 but he might be buying this model when he switches. but to get to the point, if you could i would appreciate it if you could do a drop a review. thank you

  • good sound!!

  • im really thinking on buying this guitar... i dont know if i should go with this.. a SC-607B or a STEF B-7... the only difference between the two is the fretboard and the tuners... but the price is 2000 dollars difference... just for Sperzel Tuners and an Ebony Fretboard.... what should i do? also i play in drop a and i have a 13-70 set on my 6 string! it doesnt make sense so thats why i need a good guitar for heavy stuff... thanks!

  • I play in drop A and have 14-74 set. I think it's good with standard scale. But I use 11-74 set with baritone scales. But the bad thing about really thick strings are that the low tunes don't really sound that low when they sound so tight. If u know what I mean.

  • hey dude can u tell me if u would be able to drop d tune a 7 string. If u can How?

  • just tune the E string down to D like you normal would and dont use the low b?

  • @xxfrozen

    just tune the B to A :D

  • @xxfrozen haha ive seen this...the band trapt did this. he used a 7 string and he had it tuned adadbge....weird.but it worked

  • @xxfrozen yeah you could do that but the tuning should be from the 7th A D A D G B E

  • Comment removed

  • Comment removed

  • ya just tune the strings like this - B, D, A, D, G, B, E, and don't use the low B string.

  • @metal576 There's a lot of ways to do it. Tosin Abasi from Animals as Leaders has been known to play in Drop D with a low B. Some people use Drop D with a low A, and others use Drop D with a low G. Any of them work, just try what works best for you.

  • @metal576 You could also drop the low B down to an A, cause its still the 5th. Brandon Jacobs from Mutiny Within does that, except he tunes to Drop C with a low G.

  • @metal576 on a 7 string you could probably do drop-d on the 2nd through 7th string (D-A-D-G-B-E) then add a high A for the 1st string

  • @metal576 yeah man just tune everything down a full step or 2flat and.... tune the 7th to f or a hopefully it helps

  • @metal576 Drop D tuning on a 7 string is Drop G. Low to high GDCGFAD

  • @metal576 When I do that i drop the E to a D and the B to an A or a G

  • Go with an Agile with a 27" scale... they're dirt cheap and super cool... Ty...

  • I am looking into this guitar but like everyone says you cant find them in a store and yada yada. I know it is a 27 inch baritone scale. I know that means you can tune it down. I was wondering if you can tune it to Drop A standard?

  • Yea A is fine. i suggest a 65 gauge string set.

  • Thanks Bro. A lot of video's turned me off of this guitar until I cam across yours. I started to notice everyone has High dollar guitars and shit amps. I hear this guitar through a nice amp and its a whole new world of tone. Thanks again bro. One more thing if you don't mind. Idk if you have played a 7 string schecter but is the ESP neck thinner or around the same than a Schecter if you have played one to know, Thanks again Bro. Greats coverts btw.

  • I'd say about the same, however the wood on this guitar feels alot smoother and silky than the schecter
