  • when brosnan is pointing the hand cannon at him, hoskins starts pulling faces and looks like alf ramsey..i can hear it now,,the bloody krauts?, ive shit em, 4-2 in 66..naah fuck off.

  • Is it me, or is that Pierce Brosnan pointing the gun at him?

  • @LDG10k It is.

  • makes me wana go outside and f*&% someone up

  • @knightscrusader007 Then you're a fucking idiot then, aren't you?

  • Where have I heard that song before?

  • don't fuck with the oirish!

  • It's not 'I've shit 'em'. It's the Mafia of Shittem, as in the Batman cities, ...

  • despite the mario bros movie... hoskins kicked and still kicks ass

    a bloody good actor!

  • Was this the awful irony? Going in with Europe?A bit more amdition? Irony? Fate? Brillianrt all the same.

  • You can take as many acting lessons as you like, but you simply can't be tought acting such as that which Bob Hoskins delivers in that final scene. You either have it or you don't.

  • @meldme Wee nutters are more fearsome and convincing than nutters that are any higher than five foot nine

  • KAULCHAH!!

  • bob hoskins - ahhhhhhhh if i ever met him id be prepared to go gay.....

  • Hoskin's finest hour.

  • I always thought the line was: "The Mafia...of Shitdom".

  • 2:50 Hubris brings forth 3:30 nemesis....

  • with pierce brosnan too

    "you're fucked buddy"

    "yeah I know...fuck it"

  • A sleeping partners one thing but your in a fucking coma.....................great line

  • Coool fucking music man.

  • @ExtremeBogom

And so's the rest of the album.

    Get it !

  • You can read Harolds mind when he's in the cab trying to think of anyway to get out of the situation! No way out ......(quality film!)

  • Was that the cab they phoned up ment to target and kill off the yanks instead of bob

  • Comment removed

  • Kulchaa!

  • Fucking amazing film!

  • It's OVER. I Pulled the plug on em! LOL

  • What a great performance from bob shame he done super mario and rodger rabbit though!!..

  • "Shut up you long streak o'paralysed piss!"

  • This definitely one of the best films of a genre… up there with ‘Goodfellas’ and ‘The Godfather’. Hoskin’s role as Shand was so successful that it has been said that the Krays sent him a message congratulating him on his performance as a British gangster! He also delivers one of my favourite insults in this scene: ‘Shut up, you long streak of paralysed piss!’ At ‘Stony03’, good one for uploading this, it’s a classic scene!

  • We're looking for people who can contribute to what England has given the world: culture, genius, sophistication. Bit more than an 'ot dog, know what I mean?

  • What happened to the British Film Industry? Why don't we make films about ourselves like the Yanks, Aussies and Frogs* do: about our history? Where are we, ffs?

    *Americans, Australians, French

  • My favourite film. No "Gangland" british film has matched it since. Bob Hoskins' tour-de-force. According to director John Mackenzie, Harold is a Capitalist Thug who gets what he deserves. However, it's great to see all these frightfully worthy socialist actors, writers, directors, etc.., doing so well out of the "nasty capitalist" film business.

  • @tonystower harold shand would have given money to the edl and fuck up the uaf

  • @chelseaboy123ful Jeez, Don't you wish they'd made a sequel? According to Director John Mackenzie; "In my mind, I'd killed him".... but I like to think that Harold would've survived, and totally f****d the system.

  • @tonystower yes i do i felt so sorry for harold every thing was going so well until that skinny little bastard went behind his back and dealt with the ira brave man at the end shock surprise accepts he,s dead.

  • @chelseaboy123ful ....Or perhaps he would now be in the House Of Lords, overseeing a dodgy deal for seats in the Olympic stadium.

  • LEGEND - Bob Rules

  • Comment removed

  • @tonystower Get your fucking politics out of these classic film clips, cunt.

  • @thebthatwasp Oh dear, you seem to be rather dim. Director John Mackenzie and writer Barrie Keeffe have both made it clear that the film is highly political, with a strong anti-capitalist message, intended to generate discussion. It's fair-game for political comment, from either Left or Right. So in one short statement, you managed to be ill-informed, and resorted to a "fucking" and a "cunt". You're really not doing very well, are you...? At least we agree it is a brilliant film, real classic.

  • @thebthatwasp Hmmm no reply. I suppose it's similar to giving a cow some grass over a farm gate; they look at you, like they want to say something, but you realise there will not be a response. Or maybe an inbred dog, chained to a stake in the middle of a yard; Lots of barking, lots of agression, but no actual intelligence...

  • Classic movie, a little dated as expected but still hugely watchable, great cast and a memorable performance from Bobby boy!!

  • is that pierce brosman?

  • @jhaul21 Yeah. The guy holding the gun.

  • bob looks a bit like Tie Domi there sitting in the car

  • best british film ever !!!

  • He sure looks a lot like Capne in this final scene, great acting.

  • I never trusted that pile of shit Brosnan. Disgrace that an Irishman played James Bond. Shit 'Em.

  • Five dislikes? To be honest, I though there were far more cretins than that out and about. One of the best endings to a film. You won't find this recommended in any screenwriting books, and you can't copy it. Awesome.

  • I love the way he said "vitality".

  • Only the British could make a hard hitting soundtrack like that, full of balls and grit

  • I know its not a gangster film, but for real gritty British movies, you have to see scum!

  • Bob hoskins what a legend! The last minute of this film is the best ending of any British gangster film ever! Guy Ritchie et al, I've shit em!

  • Bob: So I'm about to be taken for ride am I?

    Man with Gun: Yeah!

    Bob: & who are you?

    MwG: Bond, James Bond!

  • Superb film.

  • How has Bob Hoskins NOT won an oscar???

  • JUST GRAB 'IS BLOODY GUN BOB!!! WHERE'S YA VITALITY NOW EH?

  • he wouldn't say this shit to al pacino.

  • Classic gansta movie,Baby face Brosnan..!

  • Just saw this film for the first time the other day and had to go back to it. Simply amazing. When I need a bit of vitality, imagination, culture, sophistication, genius i go to the brits... can someone pls give me another uk title at random (any genre) that matches this in the above mentioned categories. In exchange I'll offer up one ours... Mean Streets, marty scorsese's (goodfellas, casino, gangs of new york) first feature.

  • @topshot2219 Try Let Him Have It, The Football Factory, The Business, Goodbye Charlie Bright (which I have posted on here), McVicar, Nil by Mouth, Love, Honour and Obey there's loads mate

  • @topshot2219 try Harry Brown, Dead mans shoes, Rise of the footsoldier theres loads more

  • @topshot2219 The Firm the original film which is better than the remake.

  • @TheBighairyfart Gary oldman is in the firm as well.

  • @topshot2219 "I'll sleep when im dead" (it is a bit boring that one. But it shows a cool looking clive owen walking around grimey london streets giving people a slap). Gangster number one (probably one of the most underated british gangster movies ever. An epic performance from paul bettany and andy Mcdowell. True essence of londons 60's gangland. But shows great imagination and vitality and culture with watching paul bettany go from zero to londons top crime lord

  • @wimblewomble21 It was Malcom McDowell. Andie is a woman! And Gangster No1 was gash! terrible acting from both ppl thaying the main guy, awful script. Only decent bit was when he was chopping the dude up in the hotel room.

  • @matthewtuckey lol fair enough. But most of britains gangster films are fucking gash. They are usually full of wee neds in baggy umbro tracksuits doing bad crip walks, and talking pish while smoking joints. I think guy richey has made the same film about 3 times, but just given them different titles, and changed the nationallities of the bad guys.

  • @wimblewomble21 Yeah Guy Ritchie obviously set out to make Pulp Fiction in London with a load of cockneys, thought of an end twist and just filled in all the gaps. Mona Lisa (also with Hoskins), however, is good. Get Carter makes the mark too. Can't really think of any others! Anyone?

  • @matthewtuckey i suppose the italian job, escape to victory and the great escape could be worthy contenders. Don't think we could class the escape films as gangster flicks. But the story lines are good

  • @topshot2219 Another good one is called "The big man". It is a bit of a depressing film. But it shows a classic Liam Neeson as a glasgow street fighter who has to fight for local crime lords in order to make ends meat. Neeson ends up getting into a little bit out of his depth ,& so he has to find ways of escaping the attention of the glasgow crime lords who have taken a shine to him. The film also stars Billy Connelly, & is one of Hugh Grants first ever films. excuse grants bad scots accent tho!

  • the best ever of all british gangster movies!!

  • My favorit ending of all times togheter with the end in the original planet of the apes movie.

  • "Shut up you long streak of paralysed piss"....So true. Top 3 Brit films at least?

  • brilliant!! thanks fo posting!!!!!!!

  • Someone please explain 2:06. "Touch of the _____ spirit." What's he saying and what's it mean?

  • @BadJamHistory3 The Dunkirk spirit refers to the evacuation of Allied soldiers from the beaches of France, June 1940, when thousands were carried back to Britain by a flotilla of around 700 merchant marine boats, fishing boats, pleasure craft and lifeboats whose civilian crews were called into service for the emergency.

  • @mattywest161 Well cut and pasted...what is he referring to when he says "Hold on where's Victoorrr...??

  • @melvert33 Yeah Wikepedia rocks. He is asking where's Victoria, the other character in the movie, she was supposed to be in the car but is kidnapped as well. Hold up where's victoorr = hold on wheres victoria?

  • @mattywest161 oh... well thanks :)

  • Being American, I didn't understand half the words said in this movie. Be that as it may, I think it was fantastic! Bob Hoskins is the only person who has ever made me wish I was British :)

  • @BadJamHistory3 I'm American and no problem whatsoever understanding the dialogue.

  • @Nigelxman Are you really American? Cos you spelt 'dialogue' the way I do!!!!!!

  • @Nigelxman lol Native American. Pardon me for my inability to understand ;)

  • @BadJamHistory3 There's no such thing mate - I think you mean Bob Hoskins is the only person who has ever made you wish you were English :-)

  • @BadJamHistory3 I'll let you know if anyone makes me wish I was American.

  • Brill stuff from Bob Hoskins. From Shock n surprise to reluctant resignation in 60 seconds. The whole grieving process in an instant!

    What a Diamond!

  • One of the greatest lead performances in british cinema history.

  • Just got a few snaps of Bob (will upload to my flickr soon). Bob will always be the NO.1 British gangster in my opinion,in this fantastic film. AAAAAA+++++

  • I smell a PAL copy, but it's a good clip none the less :]

  • If you wanna get political about it, in a way America actually repaid the complement, given the vast sums of money flooding in from influential Irish-American sympathisers to support the IRA cause. On Question Time, Michael Heseltine debunked the 'Special Relationship' by talking about how minister after minister begged them to stop.

  • Im scottish and he is one of my favourite actors!!! SHUT UP YOU LONG STREAK OF PARALISED PISS.........

Its all in his delvery! Brilliant

  • @hearts76100 Sorry mate but I see you start your sentence with 'I'm Scottish'. Does that mean normally you hate any English actor because they are English? If so thats bollocks mate

  • Brilliant!

  • this film is the bomb! it even predicted the docklands would be revamped. Bob Hoskins rules.

watching films like this and scenes like this is why i went into film making. i am trying to emulate the greats. no point in making movies for making movies sake.

it's a bout leaving legacies, breaking and reshaping moulds. in that final scene hoskins face is a picture that will live with me forever.

i'm doing my own films now. if you want to view my trailers press my link. please leave a comment.

  • BOB HOSKINS RULES!

  • Harold Shand doesn't say "The Mafia. I've shit 'em," it's "The Mafia. Of Shitdom."

  • You know, this might just be my favourite film ever.

  • "you long streak of paralysed piss..."

    I adore this film.

  • ''BIT MORE THAN AN HOT DOG, KNOW WOT I MEAN'' .classic.

  • Bob Hoskins' Robert De Nero Moment.

And Bob De Nero - brilliant as he is - never had to act with a tapeworm in his guts.

    Classic brilliance.

    Pure professionalism.

  • THE greatest British gangster movie ever! The last, wordless scene with Bob Hoskins is amazing -- no wonder this flick made his career, as well as that of Helen Mirren.

  • soundtrack is straight up gangsta

  • You'll never beat the Irish!

  • @wheelygood9 Maybe not in this fictional film but in reality the ira's 'campaing of terror' was as frightening as a episode of RentaGhost mate!!! England triumphs !!!

  • Comment removed

  • @Cardiff67235 Thats just your assumption that he's never seen again. Pity they can't mirror this supposed triumph in reality!!!!

  • Comment removed

  • @kamelion7 : I assumed allsorts until Mackenzie confirmed "Harold is dead" etc in the film commentry and still refuse to believe it. Hand-Made films didn't half make some top films: Nuns on the run, Mona Lisa, Lock-Stock etc Though always regarded this as a "What happens to Jack Burton" type film...Keeps guessing. As it's a film the only triumph's (imo) would be Colin, Jeff & Harris getting what they deserve & the whole soundtrack. Ps: IRA type films - The Crying Game was pretty decent.

  • @Cardiff67235 I agree totally. Hand Made Films did knock out some classics. Of the ones you mentioned Mona Lisa and Nuns on the Run are particular favourites of mine!!!

  • @kamelion7 : Can't fault it ;...Got 1st comment other way round tbh (sorry)

Been catching up 1-3 series of The Bill/Casualty & ftr shows what a great actor D.Thompson is + plenty of future film villains eg: Bricktop who's in this. All he says though is ***T.

  • Maybe he didnt like guiness.

  • Hmm that irishman with a pistol looks like he is Pirs Brosnan.

  • @Armabet correct it is Brosnan

  • Funny when hoskins starts to tell the yanks about having a sleeping partner not 1 Thats in a coma

  • Fekiramic. Brian de palma saw this and instantly asked hoskins to play al Capone in his film the untouchables if de Niro turned it down.recognition I think!!

  • Hoskins Face Speaks a thousand Words, That Last Shot Is almost Painful to Watch....He know's that he's going to Die but takes It like a Man. I Hope they Show this Scene In Drama lessons today Because some Of these So Called "Actors" around Nowadays are a Poor excuse.

  • @insaneclownbrian yep that was boom!!!!!!!!

  • what happens to vicktoria does the yanks to her or the ira aswell

  • littel more than a hotdog you no what I mean....

  • I think he said "Mafia, of Shittem!'

  • shut up u long streak of piss lol.

  • @laslow08 Long streak of "PARALYZED" piss =)

  • love that scene

  • NO one talks like this any more it all 2 bob street talk

  • @DAZV22 They do mate, All round my way (Bermondsey) none of that wigger bollocks

  • james bond pops up in the back seat and saves him lol

  • That last bit of acting says a thousand words with silence top notch what a film, nice to see a young Brosnan too

  • @50046ajax Hoskins's performance is titanic!

  • "im off to work with the germans, yeah the crowts" bloody amazing movie one of the best ever endings !

  • "Get yourself another prick" Denzil lol. The best.

  • "Shut up you long streak of paralysed piss".

Ha ha, if only he said that in the Super Mario Bros. movie.

  • Best ending ever, London's such a cold place unless you have a job to reduce the entitlled,

  • Anyone have any idea on what he's thinking in the last scene as the Pierce Brosnan character holds the gun on him?

  • anger, fear, acceptance

  • He's probably thinking "Brosnan? I fackin' shit 'im!"

  • Probably the most overlooked gangster film ever made.

  • @Alexisme1001 (

    Spot on there mate!

  • It is the Christian Easter story in reverse. Harold Shand rises from the underworld to the respectable business world on the Friday and then is crucified at the end of the film. The reverse of Jesus.

  • hoskins is brilliant in this, did he recieve any recognition

  • the dog's bollocks,thx

  • Forgot, what a brilliant score, jusr tops.

  • Bit more than Hotdogs, when this played in Canada I LOVED IT. I'm an ex-pat Scot./Briton.

  • I call upon everyone to send this video to everyone they know attaching save our cadbury! lets send kraft (those yanks) a message lets shit 'em. "y'know a touch of the dunkirk spirit!"

A king once had a dream

    Barrack thought he could

I have a dream... that we can... and will save OUR CADBURY a British institution from the abyss!!!!

  • One of the best endings ever! Wish they would have made a sequel for Harold, but I don't think it would have worked. Some things are best left alone.

"A sleeping partner's one thing but your in a fucking coma!"

    CLASSIC!

  • @daehllaw According to the director's commentary on the Special Edition DVD of the film, the director John Mackenzie mentions that the was toying with the idea of a sequel after the film's success, but he decided against it, as he considered the film's conclusion to be the end of the story, full stop.

  • Rod Hull and Emu would fuck the lot of 'em if they were still around.

  • yeh whatever but just remember wot flag and goverment run n ireland and its not a tricolour fact

  • Talk about famous last words!

  • ...culture ,sophistication a little bit more than a hot dog !

  • It would be fun to be a cab driver and pick people up playing the music from this.

  • haha! right on. That would be awesome

  • yeah, the KRAUTS!

  • The Krays Is A pile Of Shite

  • lol, that was one of the best movie rants EVER

  • This is such a good scene. He really is a stubborn little man. And the Americans do have a point - this isn't your average gangland fracas.

  • what does he mean'' they don't lose their bottle?

  • Its Cockney rhyming slang. Means that they don't lose their nerve, basically they don't shit themselves with fear when shit hits the fan.

  • I think it comes from the idea that people can get their confidence from drink. Danish courage. Sorry, Dutch courage. People accused Churchill of getting his nerve that way.

"A little bit more than a hot dog, know what I mean?" Great line.

  • They don't lose there bottle, is like saying they don't lose there nerve/courage.

Basically they stay calm when the shite hits the fan.

  • how does bottle and glass = arse? im noy saying your wrong, i just dont get it.

  • best ending ever...
