  • Modded evo 9 on stock turbo means at the very most the evo has 330hp and 300 TQ @ wheels and that's if he has a good tune and the proper supporting mods. So the vette beating the evo is no surprise nothing for the v8 guys to be all giddy over. Go race an evo with same performance lvl and the giddy feeling will be gone.

  • You watched a 2011 Mustang GT beat a bad driver in an LS3 Corvette. Both driven equally and it is no contest because the 2011 Mustang GT is down on mph by almost 6 which is significant. I raced 4.6 Mustangs for years and I'm a fan of both, but the 2008+ LS3s stick or autos have no problem with stock 2011 Mustang GTs. These cars don't drive themselves and the human factor impacts all outcomes.

  • @3derip I have a freind with an EVO who hasnt put THAT much money into.. and he smoked the last Z06 he raced. He also beat a ZX10R and an R6 from a dead stop to 180. Stayed ahead the whole time. The EVOs are badass. You couldnt make a 1000bhp Vette cheaper than a 600bhp EVO. Im sorry. First look at the price difference in the cars. You could give me 10K to put in a honda and I'll be a vette. Your right tho. You shouldnt compare Modded to Stock. unless they are similar in performance.

  • @frankie73kgt 2011 Mustang GT was on a dyno rating around 455HP true output. running a 1/4 mile about the same as the LS3 Vette. 0-60 is actually faster... you cant just say a cars faster because the engine is bigger.. The mustang MAY lose. but i can guarentee it wont be very badly. "LOL"

    2011 Mustang 5.0L = 412 HP/ 390 TQ... 3,600 LBS (0.36 drag cd) 2008 Corvette 6.2L = 436 HP/ 428 TQ... 3,200 LBS (0.28 drag cd)... The lower number is more aerodynamic.

  • @IrishChris1979 Thats underrated though. 412 is what ford rates it at. because they had a big issue in the early 2000's when ford made a mustang with less HP than they said it had. Now they underrate them. Technically the best HP they got from the car was 457. Its ok though i seen a first hand look at a 2011 mustang GT beat a 08 vette at the drag strip. the tires werent stock and that was it. i just consider it equal competition :)

    I agree with you about it being underrated. My friend has an 03' Cobra which as you know was rated at 390 HP...His dyno'd 372 bone stock. I know the new 5.0 is probably between 440-450 HP. But the same thing with the LS3 corvette. It's rated at 430-436 HP and I've seen a bunch of them putting down over 380 RWHP which is about 450 HP going by 15%. I saw one LS3 dyno 389 bone stock. I know the 5.0 is a 12 sec car. The vette has the weight and aerodynamics in it's favor though.

    I hear ya :) That would be a monster, no doubt about it. Man, the tuners must be having a field day with this new 5.0 mustang. They're so easy to mod and I know they really respond to the mods they get. I really like what they did to the 2011 GT500 as well...Switching to an aluminum block taking 100+ pounds right off the front end and bumping the HP to 550. That is very impressive. Anyway, nice talking to you. -Chris

The vettes are bad and still faster but BARELY. all depends on the year. cuz there is a lot of vette owners out there who have gotten there ass wooped so far by a new GT. Nice I love foxbodys. Wish i had one.. I have 2000 Mustang GT.

  • I'd rather have a set of semi-slicks on an extra set of wheels for fun and a set of all wheather tires than have to lug around AWD components and have to mount the motor transversely etc, plus like in the vette you can shift the trans back to the rear axle.

    AWD makes a car slower around fast turns compared to RWD.

    As for snow, if you have a performance car no matter what it is its not going to be so great in the snow, so get a beater suby or light truck with 4WD.

  • i dont know what you drive, so it may very well may be the gayest car in america. the corvette is faster than the evo. it also handles better. but the evo is VERY fast for what it costs. it also handles amazingly well. the evo is a rally car and is not designed for straight line racing. but people choose to do it anyway because it happens to do a 13.2 1/4 mile stock. which is pretty insane when you consider it is not ment as a 1/4 mile car. i really dont like vettes or evos.

  • I paid $43K for my '08 (with options too). Are new stripped EVO's only $20K?

  • The lowest I could get the dealers to a 6 speed C6 was $50,000 here in florida. Evo 9s were $26,000 for the GSR ( mine ) and $32,000 MR. $22,000 for the stripped ones with no radio ect ect. Now the newer ones are a bit pricey. They are like $29,000 for gsr and close to 40k for the MR.

  • I took delivery of my '08 LS3 for $43K, A6 and Yellow options included. The trick is order from a Chevy dealer that doesn't regularly sell Vette's, only Chevy Trucks, etc. They are of course still authorized to sell Vette's and will close or just below Invoice just to show the Sale. I've done this twice now! The bad is the dealer won't have allocation, so you have to wait 3 months for Delivery. It's worth saving $8-10K though...

  • $42-$43k is out the door. They probably saw you coming. That GSR that you saw for 26 k must have a lot of miles. . . . . or maybe it just wasn't a GSR. I just saw an a silver '08 GSR for $31,990 ant thatt car had7,189 miles on it.

  • The 08s are evo 10s which I said are much more money. The gsr for 26k was brand new at the dealership was an evo 9. They are different cars. Oh and 43k for a C6 would put me in a base base base auto. I wanted a 6 speed and they only had 2 on the lot

  • I bought a brand new GSR for $26k in 06. Watched it sit in the showroom for months because it was white. The red/yellow/ and blues flew out of the dealer but that white one wouldnt budge. Went in and got a steal on it before the new year models came out .

  • My last car was an 06 Evo IX, and I sold it to buy an 08 c6 coupe. The Evo was fun as hell, but performance wise, it's not even close to the c6. The acceleration is ridiculously better in the vette. Handling feels close on the city streets, but I'm sure on a track the c6 has the edge, too. I just wish I still had the Evo when it rains!!!

  • Why not make it a little more fun and match hp to the vette. Stock vs. stock. the vette will win. Thats comparing a v8 to a inline 4. for some reason though, once you match hp, things turn around in favor of the evo. Anyone that knows will agree, itll still be a good race, but itll be more fun. Gotta say though, top end is what kills the evo. Damn 2.0L...lol

    Evo+30r=F***ing Quick

  • totally agree, when i was stock (400hp ls2) i ran a srt-4 that had a 20g we stayed even from 40-90 then i started to pull, i think evos and sti are cool cars, id buy one as a DD

  • Yea, they are nice DD, but might attract the wrong people..like cops. lol. A 20g srt-4 is ok, you need to find a 20g evo. AWD, and most likely around 24psi, where as the srt-4 might be around 17psi and is only fwd. Still think you would pull on the evo after 120-130mph. Evo gets out of breath fast, lol

  • a friend of a friend has one with 400rwhp, we're going to have a run this coming summer, he said hes running low 11s as 118, im doing high 11s at 120 so it should be a good race from a dig, i just have to have my launch perfect

  • i'll have to disagree. Stock Turbo Evo9s can beat a stock LS3 Corvette. I'm referring to the stock turbo w/mods. intake, exhaust, boost controller and Tune. Stock Turbo STIs, Srt-4s, EVO 8-10 can beat plenty of V8s out there.

  • yea, ls3's suck poopoo. I was to lazy to write all the mods you had to do to the evo to make it faster. A 16g can only go so fast though. but an evo 8 with basic bolt ons is alittle harder to beat a stock ls3. unless it has cams an meth.

  • The ls3 owns any engine that japan can produce, i am completely unbiased, you don't see people swapping jap engines into american cars but you sure can find many jap cars with lsX engines. Go ahead and search.
