I like G4's roots. It's full of crap now though. It's hard to banter everyday. Eventually you have to script things. Just give your information and shut the fuck up. Smile, inform, go home. Blair Butler and Adam Sessler should host every show until they develop some better programming. I'm not watching anyway though.
When what's-her-name from Cheat got to guest-host Attack of the Show and do some stuff that wasn't so heavily scripted, I thought she was pretty good too... (much better than that plastic LA chick they've got on AOTS now) ... but I miss Sarah Lane. ~~
Summer 2006: "Attack of the Show" R.I.P. The replacement show, with Kevin P and Olivia Munn, though retaining the same name, would more accurately be titled "Attack of the Suck". Tagline: "The show that recycles it after it gets out."
Just incase u didn't know back in 2002 Immersion filed lawsuits against both Sony and Microsoft for using its patented vibration technology in the PS2 and Xbox controllers without paying the license fee. while Microsoft settled out of court, Sony appealed against the $82 million damages it was required to pay. The rejected the appeal and upped the damages to $90.7 million. Sony has taken its case to the US cort of Appeals.
But Sony have now paid Immersion so get ready for the vibration back in the controllers. I'm not sure when the SIX-AXES/DUALSHOCK2 well be coming out but be happy that we've got the vibration Back.
|Nintendo has always been the guys coming up with great game ideas. Take the shoulder buttons for instance. You will never again see a controller made without them. Should everyone stop putting them on their controllers because nintendo came up with it first? It's simply evolution of controllers. What about analog sticks and rumble etc. sony is not going to ignore a good idea when they see an opportunity. They want to make the best system that they can. Even to coincide with the Wii.
ys but u do know the PS3 was in devlopment longer and even before teh XBOX360 came out so i think nitendo tuk the ideo for the PS3 controller and useed it for the Wii remote
The Wii controllers detect change in position, even if the controller does not change orientation. That is the difference between the Microsoft Sidewinder's ballast-based "tilt" system (aka- PS2 & PS3 controller), as opposed to Nintendo's "where am I?" system (which uses a ballast system and a radio beacon to figure out how close the two items are to each other, and in what direction).
I've read that the Wii controllers are pure motion sensing, where as the PS3 ones are really just tilt sensing, although people are calling that motion sensing.
haha.. anywayz.. Its Nintendo who first introduce this as a NEW technology, and sony just followed them using, and Sony NEVER say that they invent it...
nintendo introduce their controller as NEW technology becuz it's MOTION SENSING, not TILT sensing. and sony introduced theirs as NEW technology also becuz they used a DIFFERENT method to achieve the same motion sensing capabilities as the Wii. but Wii requires a thing u put in front of tv to detect motion. and plus, sony and nintendo both developed their controllers at almost the same time, that's why sony was able to show a working motion sensing controller just 2 months after nintendo.
2. Sorry the audio and video is out of sync. My video/audio capture technology wasn't that good 7 or 8 years ago, and I didn't spend a lot of time editing this before posting it.
So will tilt-sensing be nice to have on the PS3? Maybe.
But is it some new, revolutionary technology? Obviously not. (That's what "in context" means.)
stupid. the Pelican controller is TILT-SENSING!!! not MOTION-SENSING like the PS3 and Wii. learn some stuff before you post up stuff, and tell that to Gamespot TV too!! the pelican controller can only sense tilting from any directions. the motion sensing controllers like PS3 and Wii can detect MOTION from any direction, whether it be tilting motion, moving motion, accelerating motion, ANY motion.
I'm getting a lot of comments on this video again (note it was posted in May). Did some web site or blog just feature this again, or all you all coming from some comment board? Here are some points, again, if you missed the description and earlier comments:
1. The only point is that Sony was hyping the tilt-sensing for the ps3 like it was some new wonderful technology. Seeing the "first look" from Sony in May made me think: "hey, I remember seeing that technology before... back in the 90s."
OMG ive seen another video more recent showing this controller. its true thats been 4 time, it motion senses and it has vibration which ps3 doesnt have.
Nintendo introduced tilt sensitivity with Kirby Tilt-n-Tumble for the Game Boy Color...long before the Game Boy Advance and possibly before this accessory was made.
It's called being out of synchronization. One of my screen capture programs does it badly. Watch them talk, the audio falls behind and stays that way. Sometimes encoding just sucks.
jesus ROCKLEEX u get every where more thn yea mum hahahaha well calm down peps ITS ONLI A GAME!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Tilt and wii motion controller are absolutely different from each other, the wii controller can't control an airplane like in warhawk and the ps3 cant hit a tennis racket with itz tilting controller, thy're both unique and i know the technology was found by microsoft but im glad sony took it because i never even knew this controller existed til sony showed, lol microsoft made it and sony's gna make millions of dollars wif it sukkkaaaa, they even copy better than microsoft LOL...........
are u sure? cuz sony said their controller is tilt AND motion sensing. and Resistance is also using the motion sensing capabilities. but in their case, wen youre being grabbed by an enemy, u can shake the controller to shake loose ur character. which must mean the controller can detect motion sensing and warhawk has already shown us the tilting sensing.
As SklarWilcox says below, first there was "Gamespot TV" on ZDTV; later it evolved to Extended Play (TechTV), then to X-Play on G4/TechTv. As for "no life": Adam Sessler has created for himself a successful career reviewing video games. What have you done lately? ;-)
nice! I wish there was a place I could download old techTV photos as well..I just lost fucking EVERYTHING in my photobucket account for some stupid reason and I had irreplaceable photos from those days too!
and note, that controller doesnt sense it in a complete 3-D space, it tilts. kirby tilt and tumble for the gameboy did that too."tilt pack released for the n64 shortly after they released the rumble pack. face it. sony ripped them off
its nota rip off...sony has every right to use the tech. if they felt if will imrpove gaming...nitendo isn't bitching like this, but actually are flattered that Sony is using motion in their controller
also nintendo doesnt even pay any attention to anyone else for example, everyone is so pumped about the game okami, and when they asked the nintendo guys about what they thought of it seeing as how it had a wolf in it like the new zelda their reply was. "okami what?"
its a 3rd party controller...and it obviously didnt do well at all seeing as how no one remembers it. i highly doubt nintendo even new about it. it could not have been that innovative if it bombed so bad.
lol...now that is jsut bad logic. thinhgs can be innovative and still fail...like hooking up the gameboy to a gamecube...that was a total bust, but was innovative
i haven't really heard any praise for it...I'm pretty sure ppl wanted online play, not GBA/GC connections...that is y Xbox Live has been so successful and the gamecube all together was not...that is y it was a bust
ok it's obvious you're a microsoft fanboy. I know the power of xbox live as well, it's great, however, you're jumping to conclusions as I doubt you've actually tried to use a GBA connected to the GameCube. Try it first, then get back to me on that. There are some interesting uses for it.
LMAO...wow you couldn't be more wrong. I am no MS fanboy. I don't even own an Xbox. If you must call me a fanboy then call me a Sony fanboy. But yes you are right I have never played with GB on a GC b/c I do not own a GC and that is where my point lies. the GBA/GC connection was not attractive enough to gamers or otherwise it would have sold a lot better. but yes and i do see what ur saying.
good, but NOW you're just making a generalization (gamers). Have you TALKED to anybody who used it? I'm sure ther are folkds out there who found specific games to enjoy, using the connection.
oh wait let me just reword what i said originally: the GBA/GC connection was innovative, but due to the shortcomings of the GC it never was given its proper worth.
eh, the only short coming of the Cube was it didn't have online play sure, also other big bugdet, succesful multiplatform games that didn't have online play left the Cube in the dust, those are the few shortcomings of the Cube. otherwise, I got a real kick out of it, same as a lot folks I talked to as well. It's fun to go online with my Xbox, it just would've been fun to play other games like "STAR WARS Rogue Squadron III: Rebel Strike" online, considering the FANTASTIC multiplayer.
Third party, and never sold well, your point?. If Nintendo would have come up with a normal Gamepad, I can bet you $100 that they wouldn't have added the tilt sensors, but nice try of a damage control, fanboy.
Even though the controller does support 4 way (up/down, left/right) AND rumble unlike the PS3 controller, it is bulky and not very 'sleek'. To get it the way they wanted it, Sony had to ditch the rumble apparently. I won't be getting a PS3 anyway so I guess it doesn't matter...
That quick image you see of a game at the end is like the in-game graphics in games nowadays. Man, we're coming along nicely. We should have 'reality' in games by 2012.
