  • I agree mrrogue72. They were straight up haters. Rap artist today are doing videos, movies, reality shows, commercials, etc. and do we call this selling out today. Hell no. Niggs hustling hard, making that paper. And then they had the nerve to dis Hammer. There is a MC Hammer greatest hits album. They only had 3 fucking hits. Fuck 3rd Bass and Arsenio sellout azz too!

  • Damn....over a decade later, this interview is still relevant...if only they knew back then how real hip hop would take a backseat to this current day faggy pop hop bullshit

  • pete nice always had his head screwed on right

  • Check out Pete Nice Eye lol! Got popped by Chuck D yo!! LOL!

  • good look

  • had to pause at serch's dance break but how many rappers 2day rap over a clean beat w no pauses? almost nobody smh

  • Word! Yo that Cactus album killed it. Shit was goin hard in 89! The follow up album got me sleepn a little on these dudes.

  • @streetlegend856 derelicts of dialect was hot

  • WHAT ARE YOU DOING GILBERT????

  • What ever happen to Pete Nice ? I know MC Search had "The (White) Rapper Show", but I haven't heard anything from Pete Nice since he dropped that nice album back in '93. Dude had some good lyrics.

  • @BabyFaceAlTu Did some stuff as a baseball historian for a while, and opened McGeevey's sports bar in Boston with one of the dudes from Dropkick Murphy's. It's apparently been voted best sports bar in Boston for a few years running.

  • @PrimetimeD

  • We need this shit to come back!

  • I NEVER SAY THIS WORD IN MY LIFE BUT ARSENIO IS A NIGGER IGNORANT TOO AND A CUNT AND A BITCH

  • @patriotnation33 the word you mean was cunt right?

  • i was surprised arsenio didnt pull all his racist cards on 3rd bass when they went on there arsenio is a cunt

  • DADDY RICH KILLED IT

  • Plus, the sales argument is crap. Hip-pop is now about relaxing and calling anyone who questions you a 'hay-derrr' rather than sorting it out on record. 'You can't say anything to me because I've sold more records than you' doesn't make sense in a genre governed by credibility.

Although since Jay-Z has bizarrely now crossed over after "retiring", and continues to nick lyrics from other great rappers under the curious guise of "paying homage", current buyers of hip-hop are just dumb. Never mind.

  • Credibility is a massive thing in hip-hop. When Vanilla Ice had just appeared, it's understandable that they'd want to be the underground, credible alternative rather than it seeming as if hip-hop had been taken over by manufactured white rappers.

Serch probably appeared to be trying to hard, but the group were excellent. Plus, he made Nas, OC, and Non Phixion. MC Hammer sucks balls. An ok pop rapper trying to 'address' a forgotten beef long after his time.

  • hate comin 2 a site about 1 thing an sum asshole wanna bring up anther if its 2pac u see lil wayne gay comments if its ps3 u see xbox if is MJ (goat) u see kobe youtube need 2 band ALL COCK RIDING FAGS

  • LOL I LIKED 3RD BASS BUT LIKE HAMMER SAID NIGGAZ AINT NEVER GO WOOD SO HOW THEY GONNA DIS HIM LOL

  • I think this was hip hops peak of members knowing and seeing people sell out. Props to 3rd bass.

  • They took the concept of anti-commercialization way too far. Releasing music videos - commercialization, so is being on the Arsenio Hall show. I liked these guys because they seemed real, and had good tracks. Unfortunately they remind me of a faction from Entertainment-Wrestling, just a gimmick, picking on popular adversaries. Felt like a cult? After losing heat from bashing V-Ice, MC Hammer, NWA, etc, they vanished. Its a shame, these guys were really something, a breakthrough for white MCs.

  • Serch made Nas.

  • Certain "types" of people all cry racism because Blacks don't give Eminem the props they think he deserves. That's not racism or hate it's just that some of us have seen MC's come and go long before he stepped into the game. IMO one of the most underrated , quality MCs was Pete Nice. He's obviously white and I have no problem saying the guy was talented, smart and witty with his lyrics. Eminem couldn't hold his jock when it comes to rhyming. Everlast is another white MC that I give props too.

  • I can guarantee you Eminem didn't study literature in college. That's why Pete is the master.

  • 3rd bass, bro.

  • I don't think there's anything wrong with doing commercials. What's wrong with a person wanting to make money for themselves? I agree with MC Serch that Vanilla Ice was drowning out the true artists in the game, and he was exploiting, but let the individual decide what's best for them.

  • third bass was jewish and acted black

  • Haven't seen this video in years! Richie Rich was nice.

  • @Techspert Rich was a BEAST on the 12's

  • These hippocrites only gained success by mocking the success of another person.

In the end, who made the bigger impact in hip-hop and rap history-- 3rd Bass or Vanilla?

Love him or hate him, 30 years from now people will still remember ice ice baby.. and it will still find its way onto dance floors.

3rd Bass on the other hand... no impact. Their only "impact" was riding the coat-tails of Vanilla ice.

3rd Bass is to Vanilla Ice,

    as ICP is to eminem.

  • @RemoteMemory remember him cuz of how wack he is.

  • ITS WHAT THE PEOPLE LIKE!!!! MAN!!! IF THEY NOT FEELING TOU STOP CRYING!!! MUSIC IS A BIZZNESSS

  • Vanilla Ice and MC Hammer didn't make rap to become rich. They just became popular. How come they aren't allow to do commercials? Johnny Cash did a commercial for Taco Bell. Does that mean that rock is too mainstream?

  • @morbidchid Johhny cash was a country music singer

  • WAAAAAAAAHHHH

  • Liars Liars Liars Liars Liars Liars Liars Liars Liars Liars Liars Liars Liars Liars Liars Liars Liars Liars Liars Liars Liars Liars Liars Liars Liars Liars Liars Liars Liars Liars Liars Liars Liars Liars Liars Liars Liars Liars Liars Liars Liars Liars Liars Liars Liars Liars Liars Liars Liars Liars Liars Liars Liars Liars Liars Liars Liars Liars Liars Liars Liars Liars Liars Liars Liars Liars Liars Liars Liars Liars Liars Liars Liars Liars Liars

  • Pete Nice is the man!

  • @noochterror

would you teabag Pete Nice ???

  • You're right about everything but Miami. Rob (V. Ice) was from Texas and made his audience there not Miami.

  • 3rd base didn't let Arsenio punk him like he did Vanilla Ice. Hall knew better, that punk lol

  • i miss arsenio hall ...he always had that real hip hop. *sigh* but on the bright side dj richie rich was killin it son! -ħuмди

  • 3rd Base....they get props'. LOVED their flow!!

  • MC Search Is a Legend, Fuck anyone Who Disagrees!

  • vanilla ice is the best!

  • Fuck yeah 3rd Bass!

  • DJ Richie Rich's performance was epic!

  • I never noticed they sampled "big time" by Peter Gabriel for this song?

  • @fmbighair It was Sledgehammer.

  • @fmbighair It waas Sledgehammer by Peter Gabriel. :-)

  • You see they are saying the same thing we say about todays rap & the kids today will be saying the same thing in 15-20 years.

  • See these artists didn't compromise the art for Loot!!!!

  • This group was not established so we as people who listen to Hip Hop and Rap Music make this into a Black or white thing.... These guys are Hip Hop Artists that happen to be White. Who gives a Flying Fat Fuck what color they are... I would like them if they were fucking Purple.... Who cares I get sick and tired of little punk ass mother fuckers coming on YouTube and talking shit .. These guys were ahead of their time.... Believe that... These guys are Dope.. Respect Hip Hop so Recognize.......

  • @geriatricgoonsquad Skillz is skillz. period!!!!!! If a martians could flow I'll be bobbin my head to them too

  • @loujencece Amen Brother......

  • really? carrying around a cane and in the videos too? not sure there is any room to mock fun of Ice if you are sooo hard trying to look a certain way.

  • MC Serch is a small mind. Met him at the New York Music festival in NYC around this time.

3rd base was so juvenile. Gas Face? Give me a fucking break! Pop goes the weasel cuz the weasel goes pop? Nursery rhymes?? Yeah,....ok.

HORRIBLE - no talent - and gone for a reason.

  • These wiggers make me sick, really. In the early 90's wiggers would actually try to glean "street cred", it's fucking pathetic. Now the young black kids aren't angry anymore, and they suck whitey's dick, and everyone is just happy, homosexual, and that's that. Fuck this generation of pussies.

  • @LarsIsAKidToucher Wigger? You actually still use that term? Wow...

  • @coachmbs Yes I do. To me it is timeless. If you are aware of a term for these ebonics spewing fakes that is more appropriate, or perhaps more modern please share, and i will gladly incorporate it into all future criticisms of these phonies.

  • Comment removed

  • @LarsIsAKidToucher Enlighten me on why you consider 3rd Bass fake? Would you consider The Beastie Boys fake? They know more about hip hop that most people think. How about El-P or DJ Shadow for that matter? Are you basing this on how they talk and act? There is the concept of being a product of your environment..

  • I'd love to know how much money MC Serch made for that stupid White Rapper reality show on VH1. If that isn't being a hypocrite then I don't know what is. It's also funny that they go after Vanilla Ice yet they don't go after any of the other Hip-Pop guys such as MC Hammer or to a lesser pop extent in Digital Underground and Humpty Hump.

  • @daverandalstrailers They didn't go after them because they couldn't afford to risk offending any black guys who at some point in time could potentially be referred to as "homies". In the early 90's black friends to white guys = "street cred", and these fraudulent dick smokers wouldn't dare risk losing that (even if nonexistent) for any price. If MC Hammer was like "yo these guys is ill" they would have been allover his dick and parading him around the BET talk circuit as one of their homeboys.

  • @daverandalstrailers They did go after MC Hammer...listen to Gas Face and watch the video.

  • @daverandalstrailers

    Probably not much

  • this is the first time ive seen or heard these guys.. when i saw their picture, white rappers from the vanilla ice era i wasnt impressed at all- i harsh judged the book by its cover. These guys Putting down mad knowledge! damn, putting it down for real white rappers since the 80s! Im so happy right now lol

  • They were upset that Vanilla Ice was a more popular wigger then they were. They kiss all the black rappers asses, just like that pussy Eminem did when he was going after Christina Aguilera, and N'Sync... wow that's hardcore.

  • @LarsIsAKidToucher

    bitch ass!!!

  • @LarsIsAKidToucher It's not ass kissing, it's RESPECT.

  • serch, no! at 8:30, did you tell rich to pick cotton?

aw, snap! i'm kiddin', no gas face for the 3rd!

  • Search is wearing jordan 5's fuckin tight

  • it's a shame this group broke up. 3rd Bass has something special and got in the game to be true, not fake. If you were fake they called you on it. End of story. What they say in this interview has become the standard in ALL music today. Lame, fake, boring, uninspired. This is when music was hot and hip hop was hip hop. Not the joke it is now.

  • Serch is toooooo fucking DOPE, his skills, his charisma, and the personality he brings is the ultimate blend of flavor!

You can tell he had strong beliefs when writing these lyrics, NO DOUBT and he KILSL it.

  • man arsenio's show was revolutionary and there is nothing out there like it today....mad props to arsenio too bad he got whiteballed for having minister Farrakhan on

  • Great live vocals!

  • DAmn!! you are right...LIVE.....FOR SURE!!

  • holy fuck wicked wicked post!

  • so sad that music in general has become the

very plague that they're talking about these days,

mediocrity is completely acceptable these days.

  • Where do you see a rap performance this good nowadays ? All these fuckers can't perform for shit live anymore, out of breath, yelling over each other like a bunch of fuckin' idiots. Listen to Pete Nice here, he sounds EXACTLY as on the record. Very nice performance.

  • he really does...and i agree

  • well to be fair....dude isn't exactly exerting hisself physically..much respect to pete nice though.

  • Awesome show and how funny was Gilbert Gottfried just showing up and inviting himself into 3rd Bass's act?

  • richie is underrated

  • scottvska...Shut yo bitch ass up..

  • whats the first record Daddy Rich is cutting up in his routine, the one where his name is being mentioned?

  • No Static At All off of Derelicts Of Dialect, followed by Jack The Ripper by LL Cool J.

  • Comment removed

  • Daddy Rich is the only DJ who did this on many tv shows(Arsenio, Showtime at Apollo) I notice how Kid Capri tried to copy it on Comedy Def Jam.

  • @pdheartbreak I know...but Kid was mad sloppy, on the other hand Rich is a BEAST on the 1210's

  • I was a big 3rd Bass fan in high school. I never really knew the history of them though. I've done alot of catching up here on youtube!!! Loved how they threw it to Daddy Rich at the end. Rappers don't do that anymore.

  • daillmeskin, in todays rap dj's are osolete, its all about the super producer. what happened to the 4 elements?

  • Yes we are....it's sad. But it was good that the DJ was showed some love on the Def Jam awards. The 4 elements have mutated into something totally different. What used to be DJing,MCing,B-Boying and Grafitti has turned into Cash,Cars,Clothes & Hoes.

  • @tony7tisdale There's a DJ renaissance on the way. This 26-year-old guy from the U.S. recently invented a new mixer, that allows DJs to play different notes as they scratch, allowing the DJ to become a valid musician. Type in "Fretless fader" and click on the video at the top of the page, to see what I'm talking about.

  • @bugstrut Peace King, that's one of the illest things I've seen in a long time.

  • They're talking about a select few artists then, but look at the industry now.

  • Wow it seems we've come full circle w/ the commercialism. I dunno 2 much about 3rd Bass but I do know Serch has been down since Scott La Rock was still around so they definately have Hip-Hop credentials

  • And I didn't know he put Nas on.I found that out watching VH1 last week.

  • Exactly, he was very instrumental in that mans career at one point. That is why those that knock MC Serch do not know what they are talking about .

  • at least most people knew vanilla wafer was hip pop, most people these days accept hip pop as pure hiphop, sad times for music.

  • @Wordisbonds word

  • Ahhh the Gilbert Gottfried incident! Arsenio was even audible screaming at him, "WHAT ARE YOU DOING?"

Simply epic DJ job by Daddy Rich at the end despite Gottfried getting in the way.

  • 3rd bass killed it. hip hop back then was awesome. what happen to it? Pete Nice was on point and so was mc serch. daddy rich killed it at the end. damn those were the days. when hip hop was cool

  • Foreclov, Prime Minister Sinister Pete Nice! You couldn't tell Pete Nice he wasn't the coolest thing rappin'!

  • i use to like this song..they ever have any other good songs?

  • Yeah they did."gas face"

  • i wish they didnt have background dancers

  • I went to school with those dancers Ahmed n Otis back in the mid 80's. Serch used to come to LB all the time. LB N.Y.

  • DJ is blowing up the decks with his amazing scratching skills. Dope!
