I just came by an offer where I could get a new 250 GB one for just over €40. Very tempting I have to say. But I would like to know how quiet is it? Are there any problems with resonance especially considering that it doesn't have rubber feet or anything?
I do not think the extra 3mm will bother you, I have seen both this device and the WD and they are both nice and compact. I cannot remember how long the cable was, but it is short, designed to use right next to your laptop. About £2 would allow you to extend it with an extension cable. Size after format was just under 150GB.
Many thanks for an awesome review, now there is the 500GB version of this HDD. I am thinking of getting it as I can get it for £80. The thing I have read is that this HDD 500GB is 3mm thicker than the western digital 500GB passport. Which would you think is better, does the extra 3mm bother you? Could you also tell me please how long is the retractable USB cable? Can I make it longer with a usb adapter? What is the HDD size after format? Many thanks in advance
dave i have a lacie and i transrerd music from it to my i tunes. the music stayed on the hard drive as well and when i wanted to listen to it i had to plug the lacie in. now for some reason when i plug lacie in the music files wont play in i tunes an exclamation mark pops up beside it. do u know wot is wrong????????
why is lacie so stupid and just call their whole line "little disk" without giving formfaktor credit. so there are 1,8" (or 1,3"), 2,5" and 3,5" versions of "little disk". i am only interested in the smallest one but even their own website doesnt say details.
unbeieveable ! please think about the few left who KNOW what they are doing and want technical details !!!!
ok i have one of these lacie 250 rugged.....i dont have a clue what it is?

how come when I set up my 320 gb, it told me to format it. when i did, it became 299 free gb space. where did the rest go?

to build up a file structure on a harddrive costs a few Gigabytes but it all differs depending on the size of the drive
the less gb you have the smaller the filesystem data becomes, microsof uses NTFS and mac uses HNS+

Why do you need a long cable?!?! It's a mobile drive, designed for use with a mobile computer - it's perfect. Thanks Dave, another great review.
