The version sang by Julio Jaramillo become very popular in Latin America and the one sang by Edith Piaf became popular in North America and Europe. Some Spanish and many Latin American singers and groups have made this song “theirs” too.

@lkannif1 Bueno, resulta que no es peruano, aunque fuimos los peruanos a hacerlo famoso. Fue escrito por el tanguero Cabral nacido en 1936. No quita el hecho que como peruanos tenemos vals hermosos y este es uno casi de considerarse peruano.
