A real simple answer for me is take a look at the game The Sims. If you've ever played that game you know why bad stuff happens because in said game you are essentially God.
@UJELLYBROTHER2 I'm sorry you feel that way. Sometimes I regret marrying the love of my life and say it out loud to him, but I always take it back/don't really mean it fully because I'm deeply, madly in love with him. I think it's possible for God to know before hand that we would reject him and be completely immoral and still have feelings of regret. Of course, He still loves us, though. And I'm not sure it's a real regret in that He wishes He could take back His creation.
according to this text, Those that drowned in the sea WERE DEAD, and those IN HELL are DEAD. so 1st point is ...
- everyone in HELL is DEAD, not alive
Next DEATH and HELL were cast into the lake fire. Why is HELL CAST INTO FIRE if it is fire ? death is NOT TANGIBLE, its not somthing that can be literally burned in fire. Hell is mentioned in the same aspect. It can not literally be burned.
By the sweat of your brow you will eat your food until you return to the ground, since from it you were taken; for dust you are and to dust you will return.”
If anybody SHOULD GO TO HELL it should have been Adam and EVE, they had NO SINFUL LEANINGS, like we do now. They rebelled against God, cursed all humanity to sin and death.
Hell is mentioned in the bible, but since it was never created, its only symbollic.
I think there are better answers in the book If God Is Good by Randy Alcorn. Seriously, that is the best book in existence on the problem of suffering. Also, Making Sense of Suffering by Peter Kreeft.
So, someone actually made a video to say that there is suffering in the world because the woman, who was made out of a rib from the man who was made out of dirt, listened to the snake and ate the wrong fruit. Hopefully someone else will get into a phone box, travel back through time, and warn her.
Even if there was free moral agency, why wouldn't God just create the universe where Adam and Eve, and everybody else always use their freewill for good, and then we would have freewill and no suffering either. There has to be a possible world where nobody sins, otherwise we wouldn't have freewill, God is all knowing so he knows which universe that is, and he's all powerful, so he's able to create it, so what stopped him?
You actually believe that the reason 9/11 happened, the reason millions die everyday of disease and starvation, the reason 230,000 people died in the tsunami, the reason there are earthquakes and volcanos which kill thousands. Famines, plagues, war etc, is all because someone ate a piece of fruit? So innocent children are paying the price for what Adam and Eve did? Adam and Eve merely got destroyed for doing it, but we get eternal hellfire. That is mentally sick and poisonous.
Jesus show us the way to defeat the devil, by faith hope and love in Jesus we will be able to defeat the work of devil through our obedience to the word of God
@2750valio God could have just gave us the power to one-hit punch the Devil. He is omnipotent, after all. The idea is that an omnipotent god is in most possible circumstances a god that wouldn't be a bit nice.
@11122233344455556, God is all perfect, and a perfect judge, he says, "Love your enemy and do not curse them." He also said, "vengeance is mine." So if you want to be like God, then you just like your father, the devil who want to rule over God, because God have set the limit to the life of DEvil. God said, " I am the Alpha and the Omega." The beginning and the ending of your life.
@2750valio God still curses the Devil, damning him to Hell and all that. And I am tired of ascribing perfection to God: If God really is perfect, then why SIN?
@11122233344455556, You can sin against God, because of your free will. God is not coerce or tyranny, he is a true love. He created you with a free will, because he respect your own dignity. Free will is a choice or a freedom. You can also make a choice without choosing. If you do good, you can be more freer, but you sin against your brother then you're not free, -- but a slave of sin.
@2750valio Fuck that, if we are slaves to sin then fuck free will, I'm going to Hell anyway no matter what the omnipotence of God and the combined efforts of all subatomic particles praying together can do. You will say that being a slave to sin is my choice, but remember, always, remember, that the slave to sin part was an invention of St. Paul: a man who NEVER MET JESUS, and perverted Christianity so that it became a "Either join us or you're with the terrorists" meme.
@11122233344455556, you can't understand what I'm saying because the word fuck has the power over your conscience because of your fear --that your life is limited by God, and you try blame God for your despair in your life. A freedom doesn't say you can do anything you want in this life? No, If an alcoholic who can't say no to his next drink, is he free? or is he in chains? And don't even mention anything from the Holy Bible, however you're completely don't understand what your talking about.
@11122233344455556, You have to understand also that LOVE is a risky business. If you want a “true love,” then it requires suffering and a lot of sacrifice.
@11122233344455556, YOU can't understand what I'm saying, because you still holding on to the word insanity and schizophrenia in your heart , mind, and body. You can't be free with your insanity and schizophrenia forever.
@2750valio bullshit to have love you have to reject your culture and follow the white man religion you have to to be exploited and half the african continent have to die of man made famine curtesy of the west. your ancesters who were slaves includeing your freedom fighters like (malcom x) had to sacrafise their life for your freedom so you can live in a western promise land hence britain and america only for white people to scream out nigger n maim u. you die, become an angel with white wings.
@ghanabanana , Brother, we are all sinners and our sins divide us from our God and from each other. But God send his only begotten Son to unite us - with one language. And that language is a language of LOVE. If we have different language, we still can speak the language of LOVE by our body by smiling or wavering hand to say hello to each other. Because of our economical and political structure of our world, we have exploited the poor and the needy.
@ghanabanana, Because of that bullshit in your heart you can't forgive your enemy and yourself. At the same time, your heart is like a heart of stone -- in trying to build a wall of division around yourself, which you will also holding on to your own burden for ever without a true freedom. If you want to be free, look for the LOVE of God -- and the truth will set you free.
Pain and suffering comes from the consequence of our sin against God through our pride and greedy. And because of our sins through Adam and Eve, God promise to the evil and to the woman. He said, " I will put the enmity between you and the woman . . ." So it is not between us and God, we can't challenge to go to the war against the almighty God, but it is our war against other creatures of God, that is the devil.
@2750valio "Pain and suffering comes from the consequence of our sin against God through our pride and greedy. " Pain and suffering exists the moment the nervous system came to existence. Sure, blame humanity for everything, that they are the cause of pain and suffering. But if God is omnipotent, then why did he allow these consequences? Answer: For the Lulz, of course.
@11122233344455556 , When the first man and woman, our forebear sinned against him, God didn't abandon the man and his family. And if God is all omnipotent, he can make good out of evil. God is love. By his love he gave his only begotten as human sacrifice for our sins. The hatred or the evilness of his people crucified him, but he rose again from the death. With his purity and humility Jesus endure all those pain and suffering became victorious over death - the hatred of Devil.
11122233344455556, If you could remember from the holy Gospel, when Jesus uttered his last breath, the earth was darkened, at the same time there was earth quakes. IN that moment when Jesus closed his eyes He did strike the Devil - the ruler of darkness on his head, and he was shaking as if he was hallucinating, in order to fulfill what God had said in the book of Genesis. That was just to let the devil knows that he can't completely destroy his own maker. In the book of Revelation, you ...
11122233344455556, can see the devil with his head wounded. God can create a good out from immorally evil doers. A good example is St. Paul - the preacher of the Holy Gospel to the gentiles. But without God's "Love" we can't go back to the creation of our origin -- in that holiness with God, when both man and woman were naked without shame.
@2750valio Don't even take Revelation of John, and St. Paul, as canon. Did they even ask the word of Jesus, making sure they did not hallucinate and collapse?
@2750valio For Humans only, that is. That still does not explain natural evils and disasters. And if God is al omnipotent, why the need to torture his own son?
@11122233344455556 , It isn't like a human personal love that we usually have, but a agape love or unconditional love. In God's love, "you are destine to share that eternal ecstasy - a divine life with God." But he wants you, by your free will to exercise that desire for him in return for his unconditional love. If God is perfect, does he desperately needs anything from you to him happy? I don't think so, he doesn't, because he is the beginning and the ending of every thing that he had created.
@JoelTheCalvinist For God's glory? For HIS glory? And he crucifies his own son just to get that? Maybe he allows suffering to fulfil his own glory, a.k.a. EGO.
i read in the bible that god was sad for ever making mankind..like he regreted it back in the old testiment. i know i saw it . i just can't remember where. he probably still does ,due to how we treat each other.
It's true.. It's in Genesis 6 that says God regretted making man because man was so evil and did such horrible things to each other. But I think that God has great compassion on us and forgives us for our evil. He offers grace and a second chance.
@000sundancer000 let me tell you the truth god does not allow suffering god causes the suffering simply because he is a( white being) hence that is why black people darkest human on the earth suffer the most and still continue to suffer the most today because of westen interference in africa whiech the media keeps quiet. Rember christianty is a white man made religion extracted from pagan belives and when they brought in slaves black people started believeing in it. musilms originated from jews
If you want a true Christian answer to the question, one that is better than any that I could give or any I've ever heard anyone else give, than search "Pain and suffering by John Piper" in the youtube search bar.
And the question they becomes, why? Why would God allow sin to occur? Indeed, why DOES God allow sin to occur today? Ho doesn't have to to give us free will, because one day I will have no more choice of good over evil and I will still have a will... so what's the reason? Why is the world filled with pain and suffering?
not permitted the possibility of their falling), and they fell according to his plan. I know this sounds like heresy to most Christians, but the Bible says that God gave us grace in Jesus Christ before the foundation of the world in Eph. 1:3-6... but you cannot have grace happening in the plan before the foundation of the world without sin happening in the plan before the foundation of the world. Grace is a response to sin. Therefore, God planned on sin happening before the foundation of the
"Genuine love cannot exist unless freely given through the act of the will."
What about when we get to heaven? There will be no tree there, as there was in the Garden of Eden, but we will still love God (more than ever before, I might add). It doesn't seem to me that God "had to" put the tree of the knowledge of good and evil in the garden to make our love genuine. He chose to put it there, he planned that Adam and Eve would fall (didn't make them fall, they freely chose... but God could've
problem #1 Death existed befor adam and eve ate the fruit. It was only if they ate from the tree of life that they would live forever. That's why god cast them out of eden. Problem #2: why is very generation after them cursed with the possibility of hell? Whatever the reason, why have children at all if there is a good chance they will go to hell? wtf?!
plus u are contradicting urself when aserting that they had free will to choose rigth and worng.. then so what was the tree magic fruit suposed to do.. o well u say that if they eat it the fruit wold give them knowledge of rigth and worng.. so did or did they not knew the diference betwen righ an worng ,, and why do we have to pay 4 THEIR mistake, is this an example of gods justice???? come on u can invent better exuces for god
you see you have chosen not to believe and contradict God...so it is your freewill given by God...to choose what you like to believe...at the end i promise you will regret about your choice...
i havent "CHOOSE to Not belive in god is just that i CANT belive in the god beliver propouse its a logical train werck plus there is no evidence of the existence of this trainwerck .. i almos promise o wont regret my "CHOISE" when i die i am dead
no we didnt have the intelect,,, adam and eve didnt even knew they were naked,, and as daredevill poitns it wasnt perfect cause the devil was living or etered the garden... and god didnt noticed??
wow. I don't have enough characters to pick apart this video. I will just focus on the statement that "in heaven everything will be perfect again as it was in the garden of eden". will heaven have satan in it like Eden did? If God knew that satan was in the garden, he also knew what we would choose. he then set us up to fail so that we would NEED him to rescue us from his own creation.
No rational person would come to the conclusion that your god exists. only those told as children would.
Nicely done! Jesus said, "The one who hears my message and believes the one who sent me has eternal life and will not be condemned, but has crossed over from death to life."
you know we must go through hell to reach peace. and slavery. without slavery we wouldnt have blacks in America and all the wonderful things that blacks invented
A word to you sundancer. Please think about this when you are on your own in a quiet moment and ask yourself - do you really believe every word you are saying? Would you have been preapred to have held the hand of a little four year old girl as she was marched to the gas chambers at Auschwitz in 1944 and explain to her at the same time that this was Gods will, because the first two people on earth disobeyed him? If you would then you are a disgrace to human nature and to humanity itself.
God dosent cause sufffering. Mankind does. we sin alot. why would we get rewarded for that. life isnt perfect. slavery manage to be free. holocaust, manage to be free, most Germans were killed so was Hitler and Japan bombed, Mussolini was hung and spit on.. aids caused by beastiality. (man having sex with monkey and yes it is sin to have sex with animals) homelessness they didnt take the effort they needed to do in school or life, its simple we created sin we made it bad on ourselves
aids started out as beastiality and spreaded out and homelessness yes its true its their parents or themselves. since their parents never put in the effort for themselves they had a child and raised in a homeless enviroment. but in my opinion this christians vs. atheist thing needs to stop. this war starts out the same way and ends the same way
your not listening to what im saying. yes it is true how else homelessness is to become true. You think
gos himself would actually kick out a man on the street? if so then i have something to say. God only helps people who help themselves throughout life. not the people who just sit on the couch and do nothing. if they actually made a commitment in their life then God will help you on your goals.
But it's God's fault we sin, because he made us imperfect from the start. It says in the Bible that God is perfect, and supposedly has freewill, and is UNABLE to sin! That's right UNABLE to sin. So, being perfect means that you can't sin nomatter how much freewill you have, so logically we can conclude that Adam and Eve were not perfect, because they sinned. So it's God's fault because he could have made them perfect, but chose not to.
they were until they ate the apple from the tree of knowledge. because the serpent fooled them into eating the apple to make them sin. they didnt know what sin was or naked was until they told God they were naked. its in Genesis (old testiment)
I must admit I've been thinking similiar thoughts...a 'tool' is only as good as the workman using it, so to me that says that God created Adam and Eve and (being all knowing) knew they would sin because they were imperfect!!?? and for creating us in an imperfect way he then PUNISHES us for being the way he created us....???? I believe there is a higher power, i believe there is possibly a Supreme Being....but it worries me these inconsistencies, hence I cant say i necessarily think him good.
When you understand weather systems, Tsunami are understood.
When you understand psychology, murders are understood.
When you understand causes of cancer, leukemia is understood.
Remove god and all the issues of why he did this, how did god let this happen all fall apart, its not that we don't need god to explain these things. God can not explain these things.
We choose to push Gods Love out of our world when we denied his authority in the begining. Thus existance is marred with pain, suffering, etc... It's easy to understand if you think about it.
Easy to understand? Why did God put the evil talking snake in the Garden to begin with, was not it supposed to be PERFECT?? Why did God punish Adam and Eve for the curiosity which he programmed into them? Why does God punish us for what someone else did? Why did God allow all of this, KNOWING it was going to happen beforehand?
So is life on Earth not just a waste of time? Surely if you have done much good in your life God should take you away early or you could commit suicide?
If Genesis is historical, why don't snakes talk today? Or why can't we understand them? Assuming spirit possession, the question still applies. pagan faiths used the serpent to denote wisdom and humility. Makes sense to bastardise that symbol to make the sheep 'spot the evil.' Conclusion: it must be a metaphor.
It's hard to prove that leprachauns don't exist. It's hard to prove there's no god. But it's easy to prove the Christian God doesn't exist. It is logically impossible that any being can have the following characteristics: 1- all-knowing 2- all-powerful 3- actively involved in human affairs 4- loving in nature. 1 and 2 and 3 are consistent. 1 and 3 and 4 can be consistent. But to see evil and choose not to stop it one cannot be loving. And when we add his eternal torture chamber... Nope.
There is no eternal torture chamber. Hell is invented by Western Christianity...not found in the teachings of the Holy Fathers. Check out Orthodoxy. God is always loving torwards us but we chose a state that cannot receive it. Therefore we live after death in God's presence receiving or not receiving.
Well obviously I would agree with you on your first statement but we can disagree and still be friends. :)
2. You are very right...hell is a place of heart for all of eternity that separates from God's love.
3. Actually there are MANY Christians who agree with me. Just not protestants who's theology 500 years old at best with no roots to Christ. Most of the Christian world is NOT protestant, but Catholic or Orthodox. :)
I would argue that they aren't "convinced the others are all wrong"... Just because you don't agree doesn't mean the others are wrong. God is more than just one piece of a puzzle. Its like the old argument is the ocean salty or wet? the answer is both. Is God loving or does he allow people to be hurt (or even die).. i believe the answer is both.
May God Bless You.
Question: why do you call it the book of myths? has nothing truthful has ever been proven from the bible?
would you mind pointing some out to me? If you are willing to debate or have questions i would really enjoy trying to answer them! i would also like to learn something, so i am eager to hear what you have to say and believe.
Besides, didn't Christ say that he had not come to replace the OT, but to fulfil it? I could read THAT as Jesus AGREEING with Lev. and that getting top shekel for your daughter is A-OK. See my point on Biblical justification? We have it so well today because we've defied god's 'word' repeatedly. Or, according to your thinking, 'read it differently.'
I'd appreciate you not addressing me as if MY headmeat was defective, Hope. So, I'm reading it wrong, is it? Then how SHOULD I read Lev. where it says to stone bad kids or sell the girls into slavery? If it's all up to how you read it, then ANYTHING is justified with it. Go peddle your batshit to someone with fried brainmeat. I ain't buying your feeble defense.
Thank you for such a wonderful video. God has allowed suffering in my life and there was always light at the end of the tunnel. When God went through it with me I became stronger because of it.
God allows pain and suffering in this world because it allows free will and choice. Free will and choice drives the world today and some dumb choices land us in our current crisis.
Adam and Eve (both creations of God) were tricked by a snake (also a creation of God) and God knew that, by creating the things He created, such a terrible thing would most definitely happen why feel the need to punish His own creation for acting in the manner for which He created them for?
I can't believe Christians still use this argument. Adam and Eve fucked up (even though they were tricked) So EVERYONE (including innocent animals and babies) suffers. The suffering is not equal or fair either. After a few thousand years he kills his son to fix problems of his own making. If one does not accept this, they are condemned to eternal hellfire, infinite punishment for a finite crime. God could take away sin without removing freewill such as in heaven, but he doesn't because he cant.
God doesn't need anything added to the sufferings of Christ because Jesus is the perfect Lamb. But God allows us a share in His Divine life because He loves us. His Divine Life suffered on the cross. Since Jesus suffered & He is the Head, it only stands right that the BODY has to suffer. WE are the Body of Christ, the Church.
There will be suffering until the end of time. There is hope however!
God allows suffering to bring out a greater good. Think of 9/11. After that happened many people drew closer to God. It didn't last for some of them.
When someone draws closer to God, chances are they will suffer. That's not a bad thing to suffer for the greater good of mankind. Offer up your sufferings to Jesus & He will use it for the greater good of someone else.
The Bible also says that it's permissible to sell your daughters into slavery, BEAT the slaves you do own, and that wearing clothing of two threads is punishable by stoning. Seriously, your apologetic crap is hardly impressive. The biblical god is a petty, narcissistic, selfish tyrant. Worthy not of our respect and devotion, but of our contempt. Course, there's probably nobody "up there" to be in contempt of. You're good enough as you are, imaginary friend not necessary.
ColAbernathy, you obviously know NOTHING about the bible if you believe that it is okay to do such things just because it says it in the bible. There is the Old and then there is the New Testament. But that does not mean to throw out the Old. You have to know how to read the bible both Old & New Testaments.
Mary Magdeline was going to be stoned because of her adultery. But Jesus stopped the stoning and told her to sin no more.
Ichtheras, You're only partly correct. I like the part where you say, "If it was obvious he existed, there wouldn't be faith!" You are right about that.
When everything settles and we are up in Heaven, God willing, then we would not need faith. We will not need HOPE either because we only HOPE for something we do not see.
The only thing left then would be LOVE. That is the great commandment, Love God with all your heart, soul & mind and love your neighbor as yourself. So let us love now!
But also, sometimes to see suffering can bring the best out of people. It allows them the oppatunity to show love and passion to the suffering. To give the suffering a second oppatunity within life.
Oh yes. Suffering allows us to show compassion and reach out to people as Christ would. It is unfortunate that suffering exists, but you're right: it does give an opportunity to serve people with humiliy and love.
To 234566tgvb, "... sometimes to see suffering can bring the best out of people. It allows them the oppatunity to show love and passion to the suffering..."
So, you wouldn't mind your child being tortured then murdered as long as it alowed someone to show you love and passion for your suffering?? What is wrong with you people? there is NO good to any kind of suffering, period! That is how you can justify worship of a sadistic god, that either created evil or allowed it to be created! Tempting man simply by placing the tree in the garden is sadestic especially when he knows what will happen(since god IS all-knowing) justify suffering? That's sick!
We are all born with the capability to sin. I think that this world is imperfect and there is too much going wrong in it. But then this life is very short. Probably in god's eyes, the smaller picture is not the main matter, but raver the bigger picture. What will a person be like for the rest of eternity. Without suffering we would not know peace, and with out wrong, we would not know right. Just a thought.
I'm glad there's a religion out there for people who aren't prepared to think for themselves.
And that doesn't answer the question of suffering really does it; what about things like AIDS? You don't need to have unprotected sex to get AIDS, it can be hereditary you realise.
Funnily enough, I don't quite think this justifies why little kids who are "without sin" can be born with leukaemia and die.
Very nice video. Thank you. There is a song by Maurice Ravel called "L'Énigme éternelle" (English Translation - The Eternal Question). This is one of those questions. It has many answers. Dorothea
Amazing how God created them "with the ability to choose between right and wrong", but makes it so magic fruit is what gives them the ability to KNOW it... and it's not until after they take it, (they would be unable to understand it as wrong, but free to choose it) and he makes it "forbidden" to them...? Why is it "forbidden" to know what is "good and evil"? Besides, God didn't "make man in his image" OR perfect if they didn't know and weren't allowed.
Good question. They understood that it was wrong to eat the fruit. "But God said NOT to eat from the tree," Eve said. She knew it was wrong because God said "no." But the knowledge of good and evil was all the other things that were wrong like murder and lying and stuff. She did not understand what those things were before she ate the fruit. :)
You can murder and lie without knowing what's good or evil.
Here's a good question: why is KNOWING what a murder and/or lying is, so wrong that everybody in the world must suffer for thousands of years because of it?
I don't think one can murder and lie without knowing what murder and lying is. Adam and Eve had no concept of murder. They could not fathom it.
We are offspring of Adam and Eve. They were made in God's image, we were made in the image of Adam. So everything about Adam was passed on to us. He knows what murder is and so do we. We have the choice to commit it or not.
Ok, so, if Adam stabbed Eve in the heart, would he know it was wrong? Could God punish him for that murder?
We have the concept of evil, but it is clearly a man-made concept, and we can see this. Also... God is kinda evil for punishing the billions of offspring for thousands of years. If everybody "knew murder was wrong" nobody would do it.
If Adam stabbed Eve in the heart, it would have been an accident, since he would not understand death. He did not know what death was. He had never seen it or experienced it. He would not have known that stabbing her was wrong, because he did not know what evil was, except for eating the fruit. That's the only evil he knew. God could not punish him for that, because he didn't know that stabbing her was wrong. Lots of people know murder is wrong, and still do it anyway.
Notice how, you have no problem with the fact that God told them "for you will surely die"... even though they "did not know what death was". Also, he could not know evil, "except for eating the fruit"... already he has knowledge of evil... you are showing some double think.
I realize that. He never experienced death but God must have explained it. He never witnessed it so he wouldn't clearly understand what it was. He had an idea. The fruit was the only thing he knew that was "wrong."
It doesn't say "God explained death" either. You also just said he wouldn't know what death was, which would be why he wouldn't know "murder"... so which is it?
It sounds like you have read Genesis. I can't say what isn't there. You have to decide for yourself what happened. Because I can't make up answers to questions which are not supported by the text.
It's not really my decision on "what happened" there, because, the story goes one way, the book can be re-written, or there can (and there are) be more books like it, and you can adjust your beliefs, but you cannot just simply say "this is what happened"...
What does it mean to be made in God's image? Man was not made entirely in God's image, or else man would be God. Man was like God in that he had the ability to think, feel, will, and love.
1) What kind of fair and moral God would punish ALL of man for the sins committed by 2 (adam and eve)?
2) If you were a teacher, do you think it fair to punish a whole class of children when it was only 1 student that stole from you?
3) What did Jesus dying on the cross for our sins do for us? There is still sin, pestilance, and a good chance we will go to hell. So what exactly did we gain again?
1) Humans "sin" only because God allowed Adam and Eve to sin and thought it fair that their choice represents all of Humankind (Is God not powerful enough to have stopped this?)
2) Why would God allow Adam and Eve to choose the path of sin and have that one choice affect all Mankind? Why not just punish Adam and Eve only and let the rest of us live in bliss?
3) Unfortunately, even with 90% people in America believing in God, there are crazy people I don't want having my email address.
A real simple answer for me is take a look at the game The Sims. If you've ever played that game you know why bad stuff happens because in said game you are essentially God.

(Rev 20 ) speaks of hell vs 13,14
according to this text, Those that drowned in the sea WERE DEAD, and those IN HELL are DEAD. so 1st point is ...
- so here hell is NOT symbollic of FIRE
TheLoner83 7 months ago
God DIDNOT send adam to hell.
Gen 2 says...

What?? He gave Adam and Eve free will to chose right from wrong??
If they already knew right and wrong, then what exactly did they gain from the tree of knowledge of good and evil?

Three question arise from this video
First - is there any evidence (other than it being in the Bible) that there was a time when everything was perfect and ther was no suffering?
Second - Why would a good and just God punish/curse future generations and rest of creation for the sins of two people?
Third - Why did God not deal with the problem there and then when it happened?

So, someone actually made a video to say that there is suffering in the world because the woman, who was made out of a rib from the man who was made out of dirt, listened to the snake and ate the wrong fruit. Hopefully someone else will get into a phone box, travel back through time, and warn her.
catimaeus 11 months ago
Even if there was free moral agency, why wouldn't God just create the universe where Adam and Eve, and everybody else always use their freewill for good, and then we would have freewill and no suffering either. There has to be a possible world where nobody sins, otherwise we wouldn't have freewill, God is all knowing so he knows which universe that is, and he's all powerful, so he's able to create it, so what stopped him?
Aphex217Twin 11 months ago
You actually believe that the reason 9/11 happened, the reason millions die everyday of disease and starvation, the reason 230,000 people died in the tsunami, the reason there are earthquakes and volcanos which kill thousands. Famines, plagues, war etc, is all because someone ate a piece of fruit? So innocent children are paying the price for what Adam and Eve did? Adam and Eve merely got destroyed for doing it, but we get eternal hellfire. That is mentally sick and poisonous.

2750valio 1 year ago
@2750valio God could have just gave us the power to one-hit punch the Devil. He is omnipotent, after all. The idea is that an omnipotent god is in most possible circumstances a god that wouldn't be a bit nice.
11122233344455556 10 months ago
@11122233344455556, God is all perfect, and a perfect judge, he says, "Love your enemy and do not curse them." He also said, "vengeance is mine." So if you want to be like God, then you just like your father, the devil who want to rule over God, because God have set the limit to the life of DEvil. God said, " I am the Alpha and the Omega." The beginning and the ending of your life.
2750valio 10 months ago
@2750valio God still curses the Devil, damning him to Hell and all that. And I am tired of ascribing perfection to God: If God really is perfect, then why SIN?
11122233344455556 10 months ago
@11122233344455556, You can sin against God, because of your free will. God is not coerce or tyranny, he is a true love. He created you with a free will, because he respect your own dignity. Free will is a choice or a freedom. You can also make a choice without choosing. If you do good, you can be more freer, but you sin against your brother then you're not free, -- but a slave of sin.
2750valio 10 months ago
@2750valio Fuck that, if we are slaves to sin then fuck free will, I'm going to Hell anyway no matter what the omnipotence of God and the combined efforts of all subatomic particles praying together can do. You will say that being a slave to sin is my choice, but remember, always, remember, that the slave to sin part was an invention of St. Paul: a man who NEVER MET JESUS, and perverted Christianity so that it became a "Either join us or you're with the terrorists" meme.
11122233344455556 10 months ago
@11122233344455556, you can't understand what I'm saying because the word fuck has the power over your conscience because of your fear --that your life is limited by God, and you try blame God for your despair in your life. A freedom doesn't say you can do anything you want in this life? No, If an alcoholic who can't say no to his next drink, is he free? or is he in chains? And don't even mention anything from the Holy Bible, however you're completely don't understand what your talking about.

2750valio 1 year ago

You are sadly misinformed.
I am a former medical researcher
and this is simply not true.
Nor do the homeless all come from poor parenting,
many are people with physical and mental illnesses
and many have been "downsized" out of their homes.
Let's have a bit of education and compassion,
then perhaps the religious vs free conflict can end.

gos himself would actually kick out a man on the street? if so then i have something to say. God only helps people who help themselves throughout life. not the people who just sit on the couch and do nothing. if they actually made a commitment in their life then God will help you on your goals.

shas1814 2 years ago
But it's God's fault we sin, because he made us imperfect from the start. It says in the Bible that God is perfect, and supposedly has freewill, and is UNABLE to sin! That's right UNABLE to sin. So, being perfect means that you can't sin nomatter how much freewill you have, so logically we can conclude that Adam and Eve were not perfect, because they sinned. So it's God's fault because he could have made them perfect, but chose not to.

Easy to understand? Why did God put the evil talking snake in the Garden to begin with, was not it supposed to be PERFECT?? If Genesis is historical, why don't snakes talk today? Or why can't we understand them? Assuming spirit possession, the question still applies. pagan faiths used the serpent to denote wisdom and humility. Makes sense to bastardise that symbol to make the sheep 'spot the evil.' Conclusion: it must be a metaphor.

There is no eternal torture chamber. Hell is invented by Western Christianity...not found in the teachings of the Holy Fathers. Check out Orthodoxy. God is always loving torwards us but we chose a state that cannot receive it. Therefore we live after death in God's presence receiving or not receiving.
hobo2spin 2 years ago
I have a couple of responses to this one.
1- There is no hell because there is no god.
I don't believe the christian myth OR the book of myths.
2- you are correct that there is no eternal hell in the Bible.
3- You won't find many christians who agree with you,;
the standard church teaching includes guilt and shame and hell.
It's the teaching of the church that I am most opposed to.
shas1814 2 years ago
Well obviously I would agree with you on your first statement but we can disagree and still be friends. :)
2. You are very right...hell is a place of heart for all of eternity that separates from God's love.
3. Actually there are MANY Christians who agree with me. Just not protestants who's theology 500 years old at best with no roots to Christ. Most of the Christian world is NOT protestant, but Catholic or Orthodox. :)
hobo2spin 2 years ago
"Actually there are MANY Christians who agree with me"
My apologies.
I was thinking of American Protestant christianity.
Isn't it rather thought provoking
that even though Jesus prayed that his followers would be
"one, even as you [Father] and I are one",
there are now nearly 40,000 denominations of Protestant xianity,
each of which is convinced the others are all wrong
and that they themselves have the only Truth?
shas1814 2 years ago
I would argue that they aren't "convinced the others are all wrong"... Just because you don't agree doesn't mean the others are wrong. God is more than just one piece of a puzzle. Its like the old argument is the ocean salty or wet? the answer is both. Is God loving or does he allow people to be hurt (or even die).. i believe the answer is both.
May God Bless You.
Question: why do you call it the book of myths? has nothing truthful has ever been proven from the bible?
emeraldrider1389 2 years ago
"why do you call it the book of myths? has nothing truthful has ever been proven from the bible?"
Myths are not necessarily lies.

ColAbernathy 3 years ago
I'd appreciate you not addressing me as if MY headmeat was defective, Hope. So, I'm reading it wrong, is it? Then how SHOULD I read Lev. where it says to stone bad kids or sell the girls into slavery? If it's all up to how you read it, then ANYTHING is justified with it. Go peddle your batshit to someone with fried brainmeat. I ain't buying your feeble defense.

Thank you for such a wonderful video. God has allowed suffering in my life and there was always light at the end of the tunnel. When God went through it with me I became stronger because of it.

I've found one real wise answer for the question 'why God allows suffer', and I share it now in one of my videos.
ZooropaDweller 3 years ago
God allows pain and suffering in this world because it allows free will and choice. Free will and choice drives the world today and some dumb choices land us in our current crisis.

Adam and Eve (both creations of God) were tricked by a snake (also a creation of God) and God knew that, by creating the things He created, such a terrible thing would most definitely happen why feel the need to punish His own creation for acting in the manner for which He created them for?
Cosmodot256 3 years ago
I can't believe Christians still use this argument. Adam and Eve fucked up (even though they were tricked) So EVERYONE (including innocent animals and babies) suffers. The suffering is not equal or fair either. After a few thousand years he kills his son to fix problems of his own making. If one does not accept this, they are condemned to eternal hellfire, infinite punishment for a finite crime. God could take away sin without removing freewill such as in heaven, but he doesn't because he cant.

Our suffering is redemptive.
Col 1:24
God doesn't need anything added to the sufferings of Christ because Jesus is the perfect Lamb. But God allows us a share in His Divine life because He loves us. His Divine Life suffered on the cross. Since Jesus suffered & He is the Head, it only stands right that the BODY has to suffer. WE are the Body of Christ, the Church.
There will be suffering until the end of time. There is hope however!

Jesus said "If anyone would come after me, let him deny himself & take up his cross & follow me."
Mt 16:24.
We all have to have our crosses in order to see eternal life.
See also Mt 10:38.

We can also suffer for doing good.

ColAbernathy 3 years ago
Extremely well said.
kev3d 3 years ago
ColAbernathy, you obviously know NOTHING about the bible if you believe that it is okay to do such things just because it says it in the bible. There is the Old and then there is the New Testament. But that does not mean to throw out the Old. You have to know how to read the bible both Old & New Testaments.
Mary Magdeline was going to be stoned because of her adultery. But Jesus stopped the stoning and told her to sin no more.

Here's how I see it...
God doesn't heal people or end starvation because then we would obviously know he existed.
If it was obvious he existed, there wouldn't be faith!
Ichtheras 3 years ago

234566tgvb 3 years ago

AMEN!
1Hope4All 3 years ago
So, you wouldn't mind your child being tortured then murdered as long as it alowed someone to show you love and passion for your suffering?? What is wrong with you people? there is NO good to any kind of suffering, period! That is how you can justify worship of a sadistic god, that either created evil or allowed it to be created! Tempting man simply by placing the tree in the garden is sadestic especially when he knows what will happen(since god IS all-knowing) justify suffering? That's sick!
raistlin072 3 years ago
We are all born with the capability to sin. I think that this world is imperfect and there is too much going wrong in it. But then this life is very short. Probably in god's eyes, the smaller picture is not the main matter, but raver the bigger picture. What will a person be like for the rest of eternity. Without suffering we would not know peace, and with out wrong, we would not know right. Just a thought.
234566tgvb 3 years ago
Apperently, this evil is caused by people's free will. Supposably God doesn't take part in forcing people to do right things.
Ex: Bruce Almighty couldn't control his wife's feelings when they fought.
I am Athiest.

I've found only one really judicious answer for the question 'why God allow us to suffer'.
I think that's so important, that I have a link for this great article in my account's info.

Besides, God didn't "make man in his image" OR perfect if they didn't know and weren't allowed.
sonic8005 4 years ago 3
Good question. They understood that it was wrong to eat the fruit. "But God said NOT to eat from the tree," Eve said. She knew it was wrong because God said "no." But the knowledge of good and evil was all the other things that were wrong like murder and lying and stuff. She did not understand what those things were before she ate the fruit. :)
000sundancer000 4 years ago
Great, so God cares more about fruit than murder and lying? This seems to be how your little rationalization works.
sonic8005 4 years ago
How could Adam and Eve murder or lie? They didn't know what it was. They were innocent. They had no concept of evil.
000sundancer000 4 years ago
You can murder and lie without knowing what's good or evil.
Here's a good question: why is KNOWING what a murder and/or lying is, so wrong that everybody in the world must suffer for thousands of years because of it?
sonic8005 4 years ago
I don't think one can murder and lie without knowing what murder and lying is. Adam and Eve had no concept of murder. They could not fathom it.
We are offspring of Adam and Eve. They were made in God's image, we were made in the image of Adam. So everything about Adam was passed on to us. He knows what murder is and so do we. We have the choice to commit it or not.
000sundancer000 4 years ago
Ok, so, if Adam stabbed Eve in the heart, would he know it was wrong? Could God punish him for that murder?
We have the concept of evil, but it is clearly a man-made concept, and we can see this. Also... God is kinda evil for punishing the billions of offspring for thousands of years. If everybody "knew murder was wrong" nobody would do it.
sonic8005 4 years ago
If Adam stabbed Eve in the heart, it would have been an accident, since he would not understand death. He did not know what death was. He had never seen it or experienced it. He would not have known that stabbing her was wrong, because he did not know what evil was, except for eating the fruit. That's the only evil he knew. God could not punish him for that, because he didn't know that stabbing her was wrong. Lots of people know murder is wrong, and still do it anyway.
000sundancer000 4 years ago
Not if he did it on purpose...
Notice how, you have no problem with the fact that God told them "for you will surely die"... even though they "did not know what death was". Also, he could not know evil, "except for eating the fruit"... already he has knowledge of evil... you are showing some double think.
sonic8005 4 years ago
I realize that. He never experienced death but God must have explained it. He never witnessed it so he wouldn't clearly understand what it was. He had an idea. The fruit was the only thing he knew that was "wrong."
000sundancer000 4 years ago
It doesn't say "God explained death" either. You also just said he wouldn't know what death was, which would be why he wouldn't know "murder"... so which is it?
sonic8005 4 years ago
It sounds like you have read Genesis. I can't say what isn't there. You have to decide for yourself what happened. Because I can't make up answers to questions which are not supported by the text.
000sundancer000 4 years ago
It's not really my decision on "what happened" there, because, the story goes one way, the book can be re-written, or there can (and there are) be more books like it, and you can adjust your beliefs, but you cannot just simply say "this is what happened"...
sonic8005 4 years ago
Ah. You are a smart one.
000sundancer000 4 years ago
Thank you.
sonic8005 4 years ago
What does it mean to be made in God's image? Man was not made entirely in God's image, or else man would be God. Man was like God in that he had the ability to think, feel, will, and love.
000sundancer000 4 years ago
Sundancer,
1) What kind of fair and moral God would punish ALL of man for the sins committed by 2 (adam and eve)?
2) If you were a teacher, do you think it fair to punish a whole class of children when it was only 1 student that stole from you?
3) What did Jesus dying on the cross for our sins do for us? There is still sin, pestilance, and a good chance we will go to hell. So what exactly did we gain again?
dcox12345 4 years ago
1) Have I sinned? Yes. Have you?
2) No.
3) Good question! I would love to send you a personal note on this one. What is your email?
000sundancer000 4 years ago
1) Humans "sin" only because God allowed Adam and Eve to sin and thought it fair that their choice represents all of Humankind (Is God not powerful enough to have stopped this?)
2) Why would God allow Adam and Eve to choose the path of sin and have that one choice affect all Mankind? Why not just punish Adam and Eve only and let the rest of us live in bliss?
3) Unfortunately, even with 90% people in America believing in God, there are crazy people I don't want having my email address.
dcox12345 4 years ago 2
1) He is powerful enough. He did stop it. That was Jesus.
2) We would just make the same mistakes.
3) I respect that. I just hate short contrived answers, and I wish I could elaborate. Youtube is not the place to do that.
