This puppeteer owns a puppet, the Kaspar or "Kaschperle", which has a great attraction on the protagonist. He visits every show and his only wish is to touch the puppet, the masterpiece of his true love's father. Unfortunately its nose breaks and the star of the shows is damaged and useless.

Do you know for a fact this is based on that novel or just saying there's the similarities you mentioned? Tony Kakko isn't German, he's Finnish, meaning he might not know it. Still, a lot of the songs he's written are based on literature so it's possible he's read it, if he speaks German or there's a Finnish translation.

It was just an idea of mine but I wonder if Tony ever thought of he was writing a song with some marked similarities, even though it was just my personal interpretation and, to be honest, nothing more than an interpretation.
