To me, horror is all about invoking a sense of vulnerability in the player. The more you are without an arsenal, the better. This game does survival horror so well, that even with the vast amount of ammo the maker of these videos has accumulated, (plus three-four different weapons) I still feel terrified.

The weapons don't make me feel safe. That's when you know the developers have mastered player immersion.

The guard is called a thrall of Cthulhu. No, I'm none the wiser either.

Actually being an H.P Lovecraft expert the creature is called a Cthulhu Spawn, and basicly they were created by cthulhuto drive the old one of the surface into the earth's ocean. They also built the city of Re'yel whitch is currently sunken :)

So..it's a war against innsmouth? This part really confuses me, it's a big jump of the story.

What's happened is basically the FBI (or whoever that dude was in the Marsh Refinery before) have notified the Defence Forces of a security threat in Innsmouth after evidence was found of occult activity throughout the whole town. So in other words, the Government has basically declared Innsmouth 'expendable' and is now sending in the Marines (accompanied by our hero) to destroy everything and everyone in the town.

That monster, the one that looked like Cthulhu, is known as one of Cthulhu Beloved. They are formed from those Deep Ones by his mental influence and reduce mental inteligence. That's why they looked like him.

In some of the walkthroughs I've found, they call the squid-man a Deep-one mutant, but I'm pretty sure its a Star-Spawn of Cthulhu, because it looks alot like his statues, minus the wings. What do you guys think?
