  • What's next? A guitar that plays by itself? Cool technology but it wont last with real musicians.

Much like the crazy stacked racks from the late mid-late 80's, now most people are going back to a simple set up.

Once again great technology! just seems like a quick fad.

  • Long and mcquade salesman are the most annoying people in the world.

  • crap...theres is still one sitting here after 3 years in a local music store... this AINT rock and roll man....!!!!!!

  • Seems like it would be hard to get it to go into a drop tuning.

    CGCFAd ftw

  • wow interesting stuff man. im really glad you covered this interesting topic. boy oh boy.

  • I`d love to see the batteries die or a tuning peg break and the poor sap playing it has to tune by ear...

  • Hm, i think that's good shit.. I mean, I hate when you are in the studio and you have to tune the guitar like all the time just becouse you have new strings on it..!

  • thats fuckin sikkkk

  • As a guitarist tuning my guitar has trained my ear to be able to know when im on pitch and whether im in the right key and also if my guitar is intonated correctly this is just hampering to people who don't really care about the stuff that makes you a real musician they just wanna mimic other real musicians

  • ... if you think about it. This is a very good GIG guitar. You dont need backup guitars ;)

  • thats your opinion. but in my opinion for a musician that plays every day on stage its very annoying that he/she has to tune his/her guitar before every show or even during it. i agree with you that every guitarplayer must be able to tune his/her guitar normally. but for professionelle´s who play one or more shows a day this guitar is perfect because they only have to press buttons and the rest does the guitar

  • im a touring musician who learned the same things as you about intonation, being in the right key, ect. For someone like me this guitar is a godsend because I learned the right way but I dont have a tech with me everynight to tune my guitars before i make a switch onstage

  • @vanglo100 I agree - it took me some time to understand the difference between tuning and intonation when I first started playing guitar. Only by experimenting and learning from mistakes did I figure things out.

  • of course its german everything in germany is high tec

problem is is the nobody is ggoing to no how to tune a guitar anymore

  • What's happening to the world...when a musician is too damn lazy to tune his own guitar, you know immediately that he shouldn't even have a Les Paul. I agree with the previous comment: for that sort of money, you could get a bloody good guitar - even a handmade classical.

  • this is not about just having a guitar that you dont have to tune i think it is more about switching between multiple string tunings in seconds, on stage... without wasting time. If you dont play in multiple tunings this guitar would be a waste of money i would think... this could put 6 guitars down to one, tuning wise

  • If your going to spend thousands of dollars for a guitar with a "gimmick" buy a Fender VG Strat. The Robot is a bottom of the barrell les paul. At least with the VG Strat you get a Standard American Strat.

  • Wish the thing would change tunings quicker. Does anyone know if this thing keeps the guitar in tune all the time, or does it not "monitor" the string tension once you change tunings?

  • i saw kim mitchell in ontario at the hard rock cafe

  • 3,999 Dolars

  • how much are they worth?

  • this is freaken amazing, but it also makes me a bit sad that tech has come this far- now we got robot tuners? it takes away a bit from that rustic appeal that guitars are supposed to have. but hell...back when les paul first came out with the electric guitar people thought he was mad and it turned out to be some avant-garde shit that revolutionised the entire music world. so maybe this robot guitar thing will reinvent it again. who am i to question change...

  • my friend who works at a pawn show had the chance to get one of the limited edition ones... but his boss wouldnt spring for the money to get one.. hahaha.

  • cool guitar great video 5 stars for you thanks to dwgFcdGremln for sharing

  • I love tuning,,Robot Git,is for lazy-ass sissies!

  • This guitar tunes a you play to stay in tune also? But if it does? When Im holding a bended note up and steady will it try to re adjust the tuning in the middle of my song? Then after I release that note back to normal it would re tune again? If someone can tell me I would appreciate it.

  • You tell it when to tune. It doesn't tune as you play. You just press a button and it tunes.

  • Thank you!

  • a touring musician can buy three of these guitars and lay off his guitar tech

  • order one of the internet thats all you have to do

  • does anyone know any stores in toronto where i can buy a guitar(brand name)? thanks.

  • and its a les paul so it sounds sick

  • its nice for in studio's and stuff, but nothing more...

  • sounds like a nice concept

  • My dad is one of the Lucky 4000. Serial 1804. Its a blast to play around :-D. I go from standard, to flat, to drop D, then C, then Open G. My mom got it off ebay for $2400. It was his 50th B-day present. And of course everyone can tune. But having a bunch of different tunings, one guitar it just makes sense. Its annoying to having to constantly tune it because you play all sorts of different music. I love the Robot :-D

  • Everyone flaming say "ur stupid if u but dis its gay, anyone can tune"

Why using an electric can open then a manual???

    CAUSE ITS EASIER!

  • transperformance is way better and has been around much longer.

  • I could be wrong, but I feel like a guitar tuned my ear is more accurate, if you have decent ears. Sounds like he has chorus on the guitar to disguise the fact that it's not perfectly in tune!!!!! also, often guitars are not set up properly intonationwise, so you have to compensate with your tuning.

I think this whole thing is a massive gimmick aimed at the guitar hero generation:you should be able to tune by ear, although Keeley is right in some respects. most will just play smoke on the wa...

  • it also has a function to fix the intonation

  • man its sold out in guitarcenter !

    damn it

  • lol. Its still a gibson, it just tunes itself :P Btw you can also choose to be perfectly tuned and not sound robotic ^^

  • wow - that's pretty crazy.

  • Just so u ppl who say if u cnt tune a guitar ur a dumbass u can tune that by hand if you want to. So the function is basically for quick tuning for what key you want.

  • so true dude an its rlly helpful wen ur on stage jsut turn ur guitar down an just get it in the tune u need real helpful if u dont have 2 guitars for every tune u play in an dont have a roadcrew to do it for u

  • revolutionary. i think that if the price goes down, people will buy it.

  • the price is obviously high because this is the first run limited edition. the paint job on the one seen here will not be on any other gibson guitar ever made.

  • the price is not that high its only $2,000-$3,000 a affrdaable great guitar.

  • you're correct. its really not that bad.

  • its sold out. lmao

  • If you don't see a use for this, you must be pretty clueless. What if you're at a gig and want to play a couple of songs in dropped D? With this guitar you can use the preset to change in seconds, then change back again afterwards. Personally I would spend my money on a Standard or Classic but I can see a use for this guitar for some people.

  • Especially for new guitar idiots like me who can't quite get the idea of tuning or at least it takes me awhile to tune. I don't dare tune my PRS in any of the other tunings (Drop D for example) since I don't want to dick with the standard :) This would help me GREATLY!!

  • Thank you...at least someone gets it. Lots of people are flaming like "you must bee a dumbass if you cant tune a guitar"

  • dude i am in a small town and they are selling them here that says that there are more than 10

  • they made more than that lol

  • i only have 1 thing 2 say 2 u... ur a fuckin bitch!

  • at least kim mitchell is more famous than your ever going to be and has talent playing the guitar which i'm assuming you don't have you need to be respectful dick head

  • so they boost the price 2k just for an automatic tunner? which you can get a tunner for like 25$

  • how is it supposed to help u play better? u dont have to stop at a gig to tube it. u tune it b4. this is the stupidest guitar ever and is a waste of money.

  • Is fascinating but in commercials or reviws is written is embarassing to stop in the middle of a gig and tune a guitar; i don't see difference from stopping, turning the knob and waiting for the machine to tune...

Is a funny and technological instrument, but i don't see so astonishing only for the fact it tunes itself...

It'll be fantastic for those wh loves also the open tunings.Well is a shame it doesn't have Robert Fripp's modern standard tuning :-)...

  • But it does have Fripp's tuning in a sense, you can program in the tuning you want... As well as save weird creations like each string a flat 5th apart, a 6th apart for some strange steel sounds!?!??!

  • Nice...I didn't know this... this is a very interesting feature...

  • Q107? lawl

  • ahhh

  • THTS SO GEY 10 PER STORE

  • Allans Music down here in Aus got 10. Well, the store I went to anyway. Saw it first hand, the tuners are pretty noisy when they tune. I didn't have a play.. but they only had 2 left + the display model I think. Going for $4000 each!!

  • sweet first comment! Q107 4 LIFE! Kim you are my hero. I'm only 14!
