@goldman422 Trust me don't buy from petco. the rate of impaction from petco is high. your better off buying one at a exotic pet store, even if its a little bit more expensive. (Of course if the lizards at your petco aren't kept on sand disregard my comment) Hope you enjoy your entrance to Lizards! PS it basically depends on size. I have both in my household and the beardie is gonna set u back a little more mainly because it grows alot larger. But neither is by any means better.

From what i've read up, apparently you should put your hand flat in the tank and let him crawl over it. Maybe put a mealworm on your hand. I think thats supposed to get them used to you!

@geckosandreps1 it probably is not used to your food or is still adjusting to your cage, i know because i have 2 of my own and they didnt eat very well for a while but now they are fine. so your gecko will probably after a while. good luck!

they wont "feel lost" they'll probably love it, the only concern is if you're feeding with crickets because with one gecko in a tank that size you really need to monitor their consumption. A lot of leos like to wait for their prey to come to them and so you would need to look out for malnutrition. If you're feeding mealies then a 55 gal is not going to be a problem at all.

a great tank size to start off with would be a 20 gallon. Some can get a little bigger, some really dont but sooner or later you will have to go 55 gallon. They start panicking in small cages(that is a sign why he maybe isn't eating). When they keep growing they need more space to roam around.

yes i got my beardy 1 week ago and he didnt eat any crikets for about 2 days, lizards tend to get shy when they get into a new enviroment, or ur sand or fertalizer might be the same color as the crikets. thats wat happen to mine he can only see the crikets ontop of a white rock. :)

Compaired to the other expert village vids his are pretty informative. Calci-sand can be used in natural cages without any harm depending on the gecko. lets keep things cool and not get too agressive.
